StarDuster - Glory of the Umbral Avenger

My Father always told me to stand tall, this is my opportunity to do just that. [ This novel has been discontinued, a redux version of this series is currently in production. ] A glorious reign over the realm only to be hunted, a glorious return only to be haunted. Avery Hall had a fair share of experience when it came to the many layers of humanity. With the death of our real world in the future, everyone gets digitized and becomes... well, Immortal. To a degree. But how to do you spend immortality? Video Games... of course, with everything being digital... and with Hyper Advanced A.I... it's possible to create games that simulate what reality used to be like. Our story takes place in Starduster MMO, a fantasy based MMO game where the game's story is run mainly by player choice, with any choice being an important factor into anything. Our main point of view is Avery Hall, who specializes in the Sniper Class, a long range damage class that uses a Rifle. He is quite efficient at making use of all he has available, and is kind of a jerk. Avery also has been preventing the Progress of the game by holding on to a Key Artifact, other players find out about this and after a while decide they don't want him around anymore. While normally death lowers levels... his reputation is too low within the game and he gets banned, luckily he has a second account, as most V.I.P. users in the world do... Avery, swears to return the status quo, but maybe he'll be good this time... hopefully, habits take a long time to stop. So we join Avery's journey to get back to the top, just make sure he doesn't forget to properly transfer accounts.

Four Ravens

The peaceful and cool breeze of the night was only disturbed by the bright and piercing light of the System's console displaying the war's end.

Laid against a cool wall of dirt, was Cobalt and Jotun... they had no desire to bother with such things, it would only matter in the morning... the tower that propped ip this scenario unfolded into a small hill that bloomed with the flowers of the night.

The flowers softly glow, purple and red danced amongst the darker reaches of the moonlit world... a blue drizzle of light reflected against Cobalt's clothing, eliminated from Jotun's crystalline and glowing body.

Up against the hill came Dice and Anise... they came with cases of drinks and a celebration in their hearts... to them, they had won a war. To Cobalt, he had conquered himself... he overcame the Brazen Bull that burned his mind... what awaited him was far more troublesome, but it mattered not... now he could relax... sip a drink with the people he cared about. ✫

Dice sat immediately besides Cobalt, her head resting upon his shoulder as they stared to the moonlight in a liquored silence. Anise laid before them, sitting simply on the dirt mound while enjoying her drink... Jotun fell asleep, her arms reclined and her body fell from tension.

They let her rest, they talked of nothing and spoke more than a mute... it was the moment when the moon arched in the middle of the sky that undone came Cobalt's bindings... the large metallic fibers that held his eyes down were released, his vision was blurred as they fell... despite all he would question anything, he didn't question that... it was simply time for it to come off.

Cobalt's purple eyes greyed as the stated longingly into the night sky, the bright moon resounded as the only thing he could make out... the faces of those around him faded, ✫ soon Dice and Anise fell to a slumber... each cloaked from the Cold in their own ways, none saw Cobalt's eyes or the bindings fall away... nor did they see, that Cobalt could see... for the last time.

His Vision dulled to a fuzzy grey, he couldn't see even his hand in front of him. ✫

He couldn't mind less as he drifted into a deep slumber.

...✫

No dreadful dreams plagued Cobalt.

No one interfered with his sleep. ✫

✫He dreamed of meadows and neon lights, silky cloth that warmed the hand to touch... A warm embrace, it didn't drift or lift away.

End of Volume 1, Brazen Bull of the Mind.

Star Duster

Hello. It's me. Author.

The series doesn't end here, don't worry... there is still plenty left for Cobalt to do, just as with ' Return of Winter ' this is an absolute definitive turning point of the story... and to be honest, I don't think a part 3 is very clean in terms of organization.

Next Wednesday is when Volume two starts, it will be free as always, until then I will be making 1-2 Chapters daily for said release, as in when Volume 2 goes up there will be at least 7 chapters ready to be read.

I'll also do uploads every other day as mentioned in a past author's thought, they will be mostly... you know, intermission stuff.

...

...

...

So. Thank you for reading, I'll also attempt to go over and spell check older chapters during this time period for other viewers.

I... can not stress this enough, I did not think that a re-interperation of a friend's tale in a video game would catch on, nor did I think it would survive past that horrible ' Morin Arc '... but sure enough it did. Thank you.

Seriously... thank you, writing this novel helped put my life in schedule... and it made me feel like I can be openly creative, it helped me flesh out my writing capability... and most of all... it allowed me to create something for others to enjoy.

Thank you.

Sincerely, Rivkin.

P.S. - If you are reading this, Arch, wowzas... you are fast.

^ I'm not explaining that.
