Chapter 54

With his choice made, Jial was able to receive all of his rewards instantly but he did not immediately use any of them. From what Kaldor said, psychic powers were very dangerous if used without proper preparation. And from what he knew, Beta Plus was the 3rd strongest class of Psykers.

This couldn't be underestimated, however.

One such person of the Beta level, one level lower than Beta Plus, had the ability to bring an entire moon into another dimension to hide it and all those who inhabited it. Even Kaldor, who Jial could see was an incredibly powerful figure, was only a Gamma Psyker which was ranked 5th in strength.

Jial knew that there was a major difference between trying to tell if he had any psychic potential and instantly becoming a Beta Plus Psyker. If he did not control his powers, he could end up destroying Yautja Prime and all who inhabited it.

The Geneseed Implants were another dangerous addition but also something incredibly powerful. Geneseeds were what made the Grey Knights, in part, so formidable. The Geneseeds were a series of organs that were implanted into them which made them superhuman and capable of slaying Jedi or Sith with their bare hands. These organs were prone to mutation though with each of the original owners of the Geneseeds taking on different physical and psychological traits.

'System. How long is the recovery period after the Gene-Seed Implants?'

[Host will need 3 days to integrate the Gene-Seeds into the Host's body. Another week is needed for the body to recover from the process.]

'So 10 days without me being able to do anything. And if I use my health shards, I should be able to recover even faster,' Jial thought the time he would be out of commission would be much longer. He didn't expect to be up in only 10 days. He was also hoping that the Yautja Health Shards would be able to speed up the process but the results couldn't be known until after it was done.

"Nott."

"Yes, Master?" Nott was by his side and ready for any order that he had

"I need to go into isolation for 10 days. I have a way of making my body like that of Kaldor and his knights," Jial told her why he was going to be isolated. He knew he could trust her as her Trust level had reached 99. "I'm putting you in charge. You can do as you like as I trust your judgment."

"Understood, Master," Nott bowed while accepting the role that her Master had given her.

'I'll be sure to give Master a nice surprise when he emerges from his isolation.'

"Good."

Jial walked out of the room and began making his way down to the secret lab under the base. He entered one of the private rooms that was guarded by several Bad Bloods.

'System. I want to use one of the Gene-Seed Implants,' Jial sat on the bed while speaking to the System

[Understood, Host. Please select the Gene-Seed Origin]

The System showed Jial a list of the various Gene-Seed origins as well as the mutations that came with them. These all came from the 1st and 2nd generation Astartes. Jial threw away the 2nd Generation Gene-Seeds as they had the most flaws. He also got rid of any 1st generation Gene-Seeds that had too many terrible mutations to them.

After going through the various selections, he was stuck between 4 different Gene-Seeds. The Ultramarines, the Death Guard, the Salamanders, and the Alpha Legion.

The Ultramarines implants were pretty standard and pure. They came with no mutations which meant no disadvantages or advantages over other Gene-Seeds.

The Death Guard implants were useful for it not only helped one maintain a stoic attitude even in the direst of circumstances but also provided even more toxin resistance and physical defense than Gene-Seeds already did.

The Salamander implants were very impressive as well. They provided not only increased resistance to high temperatures but improved regenerative abilities. The only downside of the Gene-Seed was that it would cause those who got the implants to have an unnatural dark skin tone, even becoming pure obsidian-like.

The Alpha Legion implants made those who got them stronger and taller than those of other Gene-Seeds. It also altered their minds to be experts in misdirection and personal initiative. The only flaw that could really be gained from this is that those who received these implants were more secretive, even amongst their allies. Only others with Alpha Legion implants were truly trusted by them.

After thinking it over, Jila decided to go with the Death Guard implants. He chose it mainly for the change that it would bring to his mentality. Since he wanted to go down the path of a Psyker, having a stoic and calm personality would help him resist any possible corruption.

After he made his choice, Jial was suddenly struck with intense pain all over his body. He could feel himself going through several changes all at once with the new organs being implanted and connected to other parts. The pain was so unbearable that even though Jial wanted to pass out, he simply couldn't. He was stuck in a state of limbo not being able to do anything but lay there and endure the pain. He couldn't even use the Force the lessen the amount of pain he was in like he did with the twins.

For 3 days, Jial lay there in constant pain while the new organs grew in his body. Even when those 3 days were over, Jial could not move his body at all. He wanted to try and call upon the Force or use a health shard to help him recover but his body just wouldn't obey any of his commands.

It was when the 10 days were finally up that Jial could finally move his body, even if only a little.

[Congratulations, Host. You have successfully integrated Primarch Grade Gene-Seed Implants.]

'Fuck you, System,' Jial complained to the System

Jial stood up from the ground, surprised by how tall he was when he actually stood up. Jial was nearly touching the ceiling with his new massive height. He then looked down and saw that his body had grown more muscular and defined, to almost unrealistic levels.

'Whoever invented Gene-Seeds are monsters,' Jial couldn't help but think to himself. Now that he was no longer in pain, he could feel just how powerful his body, mind, and senses had become.

Even through the soundproof door, he could hear the sound of the machines operating and building more of his secret fleet. He could smell different types of oils used in the machines. He could even feel a connection with some of the droids that were guarding his room.

Jial reached for his bio-mask and put it over his face, glad that he was able to still wear it. However, when he reached for his clothes and armor, none of them fit anymore so Jial could only grab the blanket under him and wrap it around his lower body.

Jial walked out the doors to the hidden room, ready to test his new abilities on the battlefield.
