"I'm on my way back," Luka says on the phone as I walk down the steps toward the main floor of the club. "Ivan handled it really well. We talked about setting up a place for the girls to recover. Maybe a devoted center to it, but all of those details will have to be worked out. He won't be in charge of it."
"Yeah, there are professionals for that," I sigh, trying to process the fact that Ivan is really going through with this. It's great, it's just… shocking. And who knows what's going to happen from here? "So where is he now?"
"He's heading to the next safe house. None of the guys he has in charge of these places will believe if he just calls to let them know, so he wants to show up in person."
"In this weather? With that car?"
I stare outside the front door at the snow falling in the parking lot. A few inches have accumulated already, and that means the mountain roads are going to be hell without four wheel drive.
