X-Force #9
Opening scene Peter is sleeping in his room at the X-Mansion. The blinds are cracked slightly and the morning sun is pouring in on his face making him stir in his sleep. I see the sun come up and think "Might as well get up to I have work later today". I stand up and stretch and notice I feel different from usual. I feel full of energy and completely refreshed like I could run a marathon and beat up the Rhino at the same time. I walk out of my room still in my pajamas and knock on Kitty's door. Just as she opens it before she even has a chance to respond I grab and plant a deep kiss on her lips. Kitty at first surprised resisted but eventually leaned into it. After three minutes of making out, Kitty finally broke the kiss.
"Whoah slow down Peter what's gotten into you," Kitty asked gaining her senses.
"Sorry I just couldn't resist," I say apologetically. I pull her close and just look down at her face moving strands of hair from her face. She looked up at me and gave a curious expression.
"Peter are you taller," she says pulling away to look me over again.
"I don't know," I say noticing that I had to look down more than normal to see Kitty's face "Maybe" I continue.
"Not maybe you are taller you were what 5'6 before now you look about 5'10 how did you grow so much in one night," Kitty says confused and slightly worried.
"You know you're really cute from this angle," I say dismissing her question.
"Peter you're acting weird today," Kitty says looking up at me.
"Yeah you're weird, I'm weird, everyone in this house is weird, but that doesn't matter right now are you free today Ghost," I ask only thinking about how good I feel and how happy I am to be with Kitty.
"Yeah, why?" Kitty asks.
"We're going on a date today and not just any date a date to end all dates, you're gonna feel so much romance shoved down your throat by the end of the day you'll be asking me to marry you"
Kitty blushes for a moment and then asks "Did you just ask me to marry you!"
"Did I that doesn't sound like me?" I say with a coy smile.
"That's not funny Peter," Kitty says clearly still embarrassed and imagining wedding bells.
"You know what is fun making out upside-down," I say grabbing her and flipping into the air sticking to the ceiling. Kitty clings to me for dear life and just looks at the floor confused and scared.
"Don't worry I won't drop you," I say pulling her in and drawing her attention towards me our faces just centimeters away from each other.
"Put us down Peter some of us like the ground," Kitty says slightly annoyed with my behavior. I sigh and unstick from the ceiling and land on Kitty's bed stomach up with Kitty on top of me.
"Oh no here I am helplessly lured into the cruel vixen's bed for her to have her way with me, please don't take my innocence from, me how will I ever get, married," I say with faux drama in my voice. Before she could respond Kitty's door opened and Bobby reared his head.
"Hey, Kitty you and Peter are late to-" before Bobby could finish the sentence he saw us both on Kitty's bed with her on top of me. "Nevermind have fun," Bobby says with a small laugh and leaves.
"Oh my god, Bobby saw us now everyone will know," Kitty says getting up with her hands in her face.
"Ghost relax we'll be fine if anyone asks I'll deny the rumors Bobby will spread and tell them you only copped a feel," I said the last part with the biggest grin on my face.
"You're not helping," Kitty said angrily. "This whole situation was all your fault anyway" Kitty continues.
"You look amazing when you're angry, Ghost," I say ignoring everything she just said.
"Get out I can't even look at you right now," She says pushing me out the door.
"See you at martial arts training lover," I say the last word loud enough for people in their rooms to hear only for Kitty to growl in anger and slam her door shut. I just walked back to my room and got dressed for lessons with Logan. I noticed my clothes didn't fit like they used to because of my increase in height I looked in the mirror and noticed that my body looked slightly different more muscular especially around the arms and shoulders and since all my clothes are a tight fit now everything I wore looked like I was showing it off. I pushed my insecurities of being stared at away for now and just told myself I'd buy new clothes as soon as I got the chance. I walked out of my room and went to the danger room on the way down the stairs I saw Storm walking up.
"Peter I heard you and Kitty were getting freaky is that why you have that big smile on your face" Storm said like a teasing older sister.
"I can neither confirm nor deny these accusations," I say happy as can be.
"Remember always use protection we don't want any spider babies running around climbing the walls," Storm says with a playful tone.
"I know," I say as I continue walking. I enter the danger room with Bobby, Logan, and Doug already there. Logan had a playful smirk on his face Doug looked embarrassed and Bobby excited to talk about the newest piece of gossip.
"Hi everybody anyone else excited for class," I say knowing full well Bobby told them what he saw in Kitty's room.
"Having a good morning?" Bobby asked.
"Course he is, only one thing could put a smile that big on a man's face," Logan says with confidence. Just then Kitty walks in and notices everyone is staring at us.
"Whatever Bobby told you it isn't true," Kitty said annoyed.
"Yeah, the truth is we just fell on the bed and Bobby just happened to walk in on us," I say backing her up.
"Sure and that smile is just because you're in a good mood," Logan said.
"Yeah I'm in a good mood," I said honestly.
"Right since you two are so clearly not banging for this lesson you two will be split up Kitty will train with Doug and Peter will train with me Bobby sit to the side for now after I'm done with Peter I'll train with you," Logan said getting back whatever semblance of professionalism that he once had. I rolled my shoulders and stretched as I squared off to fight Logan. I felt good since I woke up "Maybe I can beat him today" I thought. I started the fight by launching a series of punches and kicks at the man in front of me. Logan managed to dodge by the skin of his teeth he had a surprised look on his face that told me "Since when were you this good". I distract Logan with a feint and get past his defense and land a punch square on his jaw. Logan hit the floor with a loud thud that drew everyone in the room's attention.
"Peter just put Logan on his ass" Bobby shouted.
"Logans going to kill you for that" Kitty said with the most wide-eyed expression. I didn't care I just couldn't stop smiling that I managed to knock down the almighty Wolverine in hand to hand combat. Logan growled like an animal and quickly got on his feet popping his claws.
"Kid what the hell did you just do," he said with rage in his voice.
"I think I just kicked your ass," I say almost not believing it.
"Want to try that again," Logan said raising his claws threateningly. I held up my hands defensively and I felt a coldness spread through my body and a tingling on my skin and everyone including Logan looked at me with shock and awe.
"Peter what- are you ok" Kitty stammered and said.
"Yeah I'm fine why are you all looking at like I grew a second head," I ask.
"Dude look at your self" Bobby said. I look at my hands and they are completely black some cold feeling fabric is covering them and not just my hands I look down and my entire body is covered in the same material.
"What the hell" I scream looking at the substance covering my body I start to think what it could be when I remembered the goo that was being made in the North Korean base we raided yesterday. "Oh my God is this-" I say as I'm interpreted.
"A secondary mutation," Xavier says over me rolling int the danger room. (Peter I know you know what that is, but I need you to keep this secret for me while we figure this out. I know I'm asking a lot of you and you have to lie to the ones you care about most because of it but please) Xavier tole me telepathically.
(I understand) I respond in my mind still a little surprised by my sudden transformation.
"Secondary mutation like what Dr. McCoy went through," Kitty said walking closer to me. Still looking myself over I asked, "Dr. McCoy went through a secondary mutation?"
"Yes he did and it appears you're going through one as well," Xavier said rolling forward examining me. "How do you feel Peter"
"Fine I guess a little cold but other than that I think I'm ok," I say not sure how to respond. Kitty reached out to touch me but backed away at the last second.
"Don't be scared I'm fine Ghost," I say extending my hand for her to touch. She reaches out with her at first just touching my now black skin with her fingers before putting her hand fully in mine.
"Told you I'm fine," I say confidently.
"Is this permeate?" she asks slightly scared.
"I-I-I don't know" I respond just then the suit or the black goo recedes from my body exposing my skin underneath and the clothes I was wearing before.
"Look at that problem solved," I say light-hearted.
"How do you feel does Dr. McCoy need to examine you," Kitty asked?
"It would do well to get examined Peter," Xavier said agreeing with Kitty.
"Before that, I owe that punk a beating" Logan said.
"Logan I don't think that's best," Xavier said trying to calm down Logan.
"It's all right I want to test out these new powers plus I can't give up the chance to beat the snot out of Logan," I said arrogantly.
"You develop new powers that are potentially dangerous and the first thing you do is get into a fistfight your'e such a man," Kitty said with a judgmental tone.
"You know it, babe," I say kissing her on the cheek.
"All right everybody clear the floor I'm gonna need some room to whoop the spider's ass," Logan says glaring at Doug and Bobby. Bobby and Doug get up and run out the room as they leave Doug says, "Good luck man". Kitty gives me a look and leaves wheeling the professor out the danger room.
"Why don't we make this interesting," I say to Logan?
"What do you have in mind," Logan says with a smile?
"We both can use all of our powers and we change the environment of the danger room to the forest I first trained in. The first one to fall unconscious or surrender loses, and the loser has to wear a tutu for the rest of the day and pictures will be taken" I say confidently in my new abilities. Logan just laughs and says "I'm gonna enjoy embarrassing you in front of everyone kid," Logan says as he cracks his joints to intimidate me. I walk over to the computer and turn on the forest program and walk up to Logan.
"All right Xavier care to start the countdown for us" I yell out knowing Xavier and the rest are behind the glass watching the fight.
"Alright, the match between Wolverine and Spider-Man will begin in 5…4….3….2….1 begin," Xavier says with a little excitement in his voice. Logan immediately dashed forward with his claws out if I didn't know any better I would say he was trying to kill me. My new powers activated almost instantly and covered me with that same black suit and I blocked Logan's before he connected his claws with my person.
"Damn Wolvey you really trying to kill me," I said casually.
"Not kill just hurt badly," Logan said stretching his opposite hand forward slashing again. Logan kept slashing again and again trying and failing to connect to my body. My new powers had not only improved my speed and agility but also made my Spider-sense more accurate instead of just a feeling of the danger of being in a fight I felt it only flare up right before any of his strikes. In the middle of Logan's furry, I say an opening and saw my chance to go on the offensive. I kicked Logan with his guard down and sent him flying backward.
"Wow, I'm stronger too nice to know," I say looking down at my black covered clenched fists. I feel my spider-sense go off again as I see Logan get up and by instinct, I go to web him not realizing I left my web-shooters in my room as I usually don't bring them for training. Though surprisingly webs came out of my wrists and they looked different from before the were completely black instead of my usual white and had a strange texture to them that my previous webs didn't have. The webs quickly wrapped around Logan and tied him up he went to cut the webbing with his claws and I quickly weed his face distracting him and pissing him off further than before. I took this opportunity of Logan's blindness to hide in the trees. Logan took a minute put finally managed to free himself and see I was gone.
"Kid do you really think you can hide you know I can smell you up there," Logan says annoyed. "Well if you're not gonna come down I'll have to make you," Logan says as he starts slashing his claws through the trunks of trees hoping to knock me down. While he's doing that I jump from tree to tree hoping to mask my presence a bit or maybe stop him from knowing exactly where I was. I manage to get behind Logan and web-line his feet and pull him into the air and as he's ascending being pulled up by my web I'm defending with my leg out to kick him in the face using gravity to do all the hard work of putting extra force into my attack. A painful smack sound reverberated through the danger room as Logan hung limply and I stuck my landing it was clear he was unconscious and I had won. The rainforest area started to disappear and Logan was let down as the rest of the X-Men walked into the danger room.
"Daaaaamn dude" Bobby cried with all the excitement of a kid on Christmas morning.
"I can't believe I just saw that," Scott says surprised and a little happy.
"While I need to give a physical and see how your new powers are affecting your natural biology your fight with Logan was very impressive," Dr. McCoy said.
"Hey, Hank could you send me the danger room footage for me I need to see Logan getting knocked out in HD" Storm says.
"Same here," Jean says. The only ones who were silent were Doug, Kitty, and Professor Xavier. Doug and Kitty being too surprised to even speak and Xavier just silently observing. I think I like my new powers.
