Chapter 4 Random Amplification

As Ru Chan opened the pills, his brows creased tightly as a frown appeared on his face.

"Why are the quality of these pills so low?" He asked himself inwardly as he skeptically looked at the pills. After a few moments, his face lit up with an enlightened expression.

After assimilating the memories of a Martial lord and also a Supreme grade alchemist, Ru Chan despite not being an alchemist himself had fused with his knowledge.

In terms of theoretical knowledge, after completely assimilating with Ren Lao's memories, he could be considered a pseudo supreme grade alchemist.

In the Dao Martial Lands, the ranks of Alchemists are divided into several grades, starting from Grade 9 all the way to Grade 1.

Pills like the body tempering pill were Mid-level Grade 9 pills and could be refined by a Grade 9 alchemist. Not just alchemists, also Weapons Craftsman had the same grading system starting from grade 9 to grade 1.

The Affinity Martial Lord Ren Lao, on the other Acthad long since transcended the Grade 1 rank when he was alive and had stepped past the Semi-Supreme alchemists level to become the one and only Supreme Level Alchemist and War Crafter in all the Dao Martial Lands.

Not many people knew of this fact, as Ren Lao had not made it known publicly. However, it was without saying that his knowledge on pills and concoctions were superior to the extent of becoming almost Godlike.

When it came down to theoretical knowledge, there was no one that could stand on equal footing with him, so detecting the quality of pills from a single sniff was nothing more than child's play for him.

This was the reason he had frowned so suddenly and expressed a slight disgust in his eyes. Because for Ren Lao, pills with low purity were nothing more than an eyesore and an insult to the work of alchemy.

One could say that he had inherited most of his characteristics. In other words, he disdained such low-quality pills, as Ren Lao was an existence capable of creating a pill of flawless quality.

"Is something the matter?" Seeing the slight frown on his face, Tang Ning was puzzled as she couldn't understand the sudden change in his expression.

"Oh! It's nothing, I'm fine!" Ru Chan said, with his smile reappearing on his face. Tang Ning nodded. She didn't stay any further and walked out of the room, shutting the door behind her.

Sighing, he walked to his bed and sat down in a lotus position with both his legs crossed. After taking a deep breath, he took one of the pills out of the bottle, letting it fall into his right hand.

A stunned expression appeared on his face. Since when was he able to see such things? The inexplicable message in front of him that was showing the information on the pill in his palm was too shocking.

"Wait, I just remembered! My status screen changed!" Ru Chan's eyes lit up. He remembered that his status screen had a new line of words when he woke up from fainting earlier.

He didn't have the chance to check it properly, as he was sucked into that black space by the old man before he could. Now, however, what was stopping him?

He didn't know why, but he was getting excited just thinking about it.

Ru Chan studied the character screen with enthusiasm. However, after seeing his information, Ru Chan felt like a bucket of cold water had been doused on his earlier enthusiasm.

He was not a fool and could recognize and understand what the information on his stats represented. When he glanced at his cultivation talent, it was clearly stated there. Just like he had feared, he truly had no talent for cultivation.

His talent core didn't have a score on it, and the sight crushed whatever hopes he had of being a powerful cultivator. This caused him to be a little indignant.

"Forget it, it seems like I truly don't have any fate with being a cultivator. I should just focus on strengthening my body". He comforted himself as he continued to evaluate the system screen.

"Purple demon flame affinity! High-level Affinity core talent!" Ru Chan was pleasantly surprised. Only after his mind went back to the time when Ren Lao had tried to kill him that he remembered the system had given him his fire affinity as the spoils from taking him out.

Aside from that, he had also received a large amount of spiritual power. His spiritual power had shot up from zero straight to the Nascent Soul level.

Spiritual power were divided into several stages, just like alchemists and Weapons craftsmen, except for their grading being different.

The first stage in spiritual power was the Mortal Level. At this stage, the spiritual power within the cultivator wouldn't be large and could only be regarded as a pitiful amount.

Spiritual power, had various uses for both alchemists and cultivators alike. Alchemists used a large amount of spiritual power during the refinement process of herbs and elixirs, as spiritual power is needed to guide the flames during concoction.

The lower the grade of an alchemist, the more spiritual power needed to refine pills. This statement also applied towards array masters, formation masters and other professions that required the use of spiritual energy.

The only difference was that Alchemists required a larger amount of spiritual energy.

Meanwhile, cultivators mainly developed spiritual power to protect themselves from soul attacks formed through the use of spiritual power mainly aimed at shattering their opponent's soul.

However, spiritual power could only be accumulated after cultivators increased their cultivation realms, the same thing goes for alchemists and other professions.

Unless, of course, one had a lucky encounter which enabled them to obtain either a spiritual power enhancement technique or a spiritual fruit with the main function of increasing spiritual power.

However, both methods were extremely rare to come by and could only be chanced upon and not sought after.

In the entire world, Ru Chan's method of obtaining his spiritual power was unheard of.

After the Mortal level was the spirit level, followed by the Imperial Level, Emperor level and Nascent Soul Level.

It could be said that Ru Chan had benefited greatly from his encounter.

After getting a rough grasp of the system's qualities, Ru Chan put away the screen and took out the Body tempering pill. The rest of the system's functions could wait.

Presently, what he needed to do was to refine his physical body so that his life would no longer be in imminent danger.

Taking a deep breath, he looked at the stats of the pill once again.

"It really is too low in quality". He sighed inwardly as the quality of the pill was too low. Meaning that he would only be able to absorb 31% of the pill's medicinal qualities. The remaining 69% would be wasted as dregs and later expelled from his body.

Ru Chan was stunned at the new line of words before remembering that he had indeed got such an ability. It was part of his skills list and was one of the two skills that came along with the system. However, he didn't think it could be used like this.

The introduction of the skill was rather simple. However, its effect was unbelievable

Trying to contain his excitement, Ru Chan stared with burning eyes and said. "Amplify".

BOOM. The Pill in his hand shook slightly as it was quickly covered by multiple white lights. This was the enhancement mechanism of the system.
