Throughout the next week, the group would remain in the cave witnessing as Monica trained and challenged Moltres over and over again like a broken record.

At the top of the mountain, clouds converged like cotton candy swirling in its machine. The soft light from the morning sun embraced the silhouette sitting on the tallest ledge overlooking everything within several hundred kilometres.

A handsome smile hung on his face, and a glint of unconcealed expectation flashes across his eyes as he glanced at the distant stadium standing erect and imposing.

He pulled out his phone and lightly chucked it into the air where it floated slightly before enlarging into a large screen.

"This year's league information," he said gently.

Beep!

With a flash of light, the screen came to life and a website similar to YouTube came into view. On the top left a big blue and red 'Poketube' could be seen.

"Not very original" he stated with a chuckle before focusing on the changing screen that filtered through millions of different categories and videos before arriving upon the latest videos pertaining to information from this year's league.

[Welcome everyone to this year's league overview. In today's video, we will be going over all the recent content and information pertaining to the league including some of the participants who have been in the spotlight through their social media posts revealing their exploits.] A female voice said in a soothing tone that made one want to sit confortably and listen in. Rex was naturally no exception.

[So, starting off, we will be going over any new information concerning the league itself. Through the sharing of technology from various regions, mainly Kalos and Unova, the stadium has gone through a massive remodelling for this year's tournament. This includes several specialised battlefields, better security, and a never before seen size increase with the ability to hold hundreds of thousands of people in the main stadium where the top 16 matches will be held.

The rules have not changed and will therefore not be covered in this video. If you are interested in said information, please refer to the link that is now on the screen. Moving on, we have details on some promising individuals that will be participating in this year's league.

Usually, it would be rather hard to find any people who have definitive chances of reaching the top 8 so we usually abstain from creating these spotlights. But we simply cannot ignore these challengers that bring forth a whole new level of competition this year.

We have Karlo, a former Kalos League runner up who even had the opportunity to spar with Kalos's current champion Diantha. His fans have been paying close attention to his movements after his loss last year. And it seems that he wants to try his luck in the Kanto league. His ace Pokémon is the incredibly strong shiny Noivern that decimated all the competition last year. We can only imagine how strong it would be after a whole year of training.] The woman said with a slight trace of excitement.

Rex arched a brow in surprise. This was different from the anime. It seemed that it wasn't going to be as simple as just Kanto and Johto trainers. But that was all it was, surprise, even lance wouldn't stand a chance before the bugged existence that is his Machamp and the rest.

But at least he wouldn't be too bored when he witnesses some of the other fights.

[Next, we have Simon from the Alola region who is known for challenging several leagues already. He was the winner in Sinnoh but got defeated against the first elite four. He reached the top 2 in Hoenn and the top 8 in Unova. His Ace is an alolan ninetails with incredible potential.

Next is Fiona with her ace alakazam from Kanto. She's a massive pop idol and a talented trainer facing her first league.

Then there is Alex from Jhoto with his typhlosion. He won the johto league 2 years ago but stayed quiet since then due to his disastrous loss against the 4th elite four.]

The lady continued to name people who had some promise, but Rex skipped past most of it since he didn't really care. He wasn't surprised that he wasn't in there since no one knew of his existence. And even though he had some run-ins with the police, his name never once crossed the media.

But the end of the video caught his attention.

[Now, we have a surprise I think all of you will be most interested to hear. We have comments from the gym leaders about one of the challengers this year. And their words, I have to say, startled even me.

So, they said, and I quote, "This year will bring about a massive change. We shall not name this person, but they have the potential, nay, they will most likely pose a real challenge for the elite four. We cannot wait to see what this person shows us in the future. Other challengers must train harder if they are to even stand a chance."

I honestly could not believe it either when I heard it too folks. But for all the gym leaders, including Giovanni, the 8th gym leader, to come to this unanimous statement, it seems that there is a dark horse in our midst. This has piqued my interest; I simply cannot wait to see who this person is.

Rex couldn't help but smile slightly in surprise.

And here he thought he wouldn't be mentioned. Sure, they didn't really mention him outright, but they all meant him.
