Dead Men Riding

The 5 newly resurrected birds had flown away, when Eternia turned to look at the men. Each of them was on both knees, their eyes flowing with tears. And a look of overwhelming grief was all that could be seen on their faces. They didn't have the slightest bit of fear, for they knew they were wrong. What was about to come was only justice, and they had no right to complain.

"WELL!!!! THIS WHAT YOUR RACE AMOUNTS TOO!!! BUTCHERS AND SLAUGHTERS!!!! YOU KILLED MY FAMILY!!!! MY DARLING GIRLS ARE FOREVER GONE NOW!!!!! YOU'VE STOLEN MY BABIES VERY LIVES!!!!!" Eternia Shouted in the men's souls.

"We... We have committed a terrible sin, my Goddess. We won't ask for forgiveness for we don't deserve it." A man replied, barely managing to keep his consciousness.

"IT'S GOOD YOU KNOW BUT... I DON'T CARE!!! MY CHILDREN ARE GONE!!! ROBBED FROM ME!!!!! WE NEVER ATTACKED A SINGLE HUMAN ONCE WHILE I HAVE LIVED HERE!!! YET YOU HAVE LAID YOUR DIRTY TRICKS UPON MY FAMILY!!! MY BELOVED BEAUTIFUL CHILDREN!!!!! YOUR SOULS WILL NEVER KNOW PEACE!!!!" Eternia bellowed the words from within the men's souls.

At that moment, all the men but one heard a sound, reminiscent of glass breaking, no, shattering into countless pieces. The one who didn't, saw the others bodies fall limp to the ground lifeless. One of the men had fallen in such a way his face was visible.

The eyes of this man, they weren't... Weren't just lifeless. They were completely devoid of ever having lived. As if this moment here was truly his end. Completely and totally. Never to be reborn again. The cycle, for him, was well and truly broken. A complete deletion of existence.

Seeing this the one man, yet still alive, struggled to look up at his Goddess, the one whom he had revered throughout his life. Having dared to raise his hand against her, even if he had been manipulated into doing so, he was certainly not in any position to ask this of her. But he couldn't care less now.

"My... Goddess... I... Don't... Desire... Forgiveness. I... want... But... One... Thing..." The man struggled speaking, his resolve was the only thing keeping him alive for the moment. I can't die until after I've said it. Consider this a man punishing himself before the Gods do! "KILL THEM! ALL THE BASTARDS WHO MANIPULATED YOUR WORSHIPERS! AND THAT DAMN EMPEROR!" The man cried out with every last bit of his existence, burning his body to use as energy for his last request.

"I don't have time to worry about your request. But it will be fulfilled all the same." Eternia answered to nothing, as the other men all turned to dust.

I have to go check on my babies, they haven't been fully healed yet and aren't anywhere near their full strength. If they die again... Even my grandmother wouldn't be able to save them.

Eternia thought, rushing towards where she sensed them.

They seem fine though. Huh? The men, there were more! Those bastards! And it seems like they were trying to steal my eggs...

Hmm, the eggs seem fine but... They... Won't hatch now. Not after experiencing that! DAMN HUMANS! I'LL SLAUGHTER YOU ALL!

...

...

...

Oh? One of my eggs... WHAAN... *Sniffle* ONE DECIDED NOT TO GIVE UP! SHE'S SO CUTE! Alright, from here on out, I will always be protecting this little chick. I'll start by giving her a name. Let's see her status...

Oh... My other eggs, they really won't hatch... But I can't look overly sad right now, not when I have a new daughter. A daughter rising from the ashes.

Look at her cutely struggling her way over, she could have teleported. Is she trying to tell me never to give up?! She... I love her, who cares if she is a reincarnated human... Huh? A High Magus I see... What the hell killed this little one? Isn't it about as hard to kill one of those as it is for a High Level Monster?

It doesn't matter! I'll do everything I can to strengthen her as much as possible. Oh! I know, I'll give her a name. The most suitable name possible! I refuse to lose my daughters ever again!

Let's see here, an unyielding determination... A new life... Born from the ashes... And willing to return enemies to dust... One who controls Life...

Vitaliana!

Awe, she likes it! That's great! Now then let's give her as much soul power as possible, I did just get a boost after all, I'm sure she will benefit greatly from this. It might even give her the skill Sloth soon.

She just noticed! Her unhatched sisters... They won't ever hatch! Well, now is a good time for me to stop holding back my anger.

Thank you Vitaliana...

Thank you...

My darling daughter...

~ A Little Before Detonation ~

"Captain... The countdown..." The Vice captain gulped.

"Uh right! Oh don't look directly at the explosion... It could be..." The Captain said.

"3..."

"2..."

"1..."

The Anti-Magic Bomb went off. There was no sound... Only a mass of light enveloping the area. And then the sound came.

BOOOOOOM RUMBLE WOOSH

The sound caught up with the light. Along with it came the shock wave. That turned the quickly made watchtower stand on 2 legs instead of 4, for a moment until the sheer weight of it caused it to land back down.

The men in the tower were clearly jostled around quite a bit. By the time they recovered, the light had dissipated. The Captain raised his lens, so too did the Vice-Captain.

""There's nothing left"" The two men shouted.

"Let's go, let's ride, old friend." The Captain chuckled nervously.

"Yeah, Let us get the hell out of here. The City lord is waiting for a report. But honestly, I don't give a damn, I need a drink after watching that." The Vice Captain said, sliding down the ladder. My stomach... It's in knots now. I don't suspect I'll be granted a merciful death. How could I? That was a family, and we...

"You need more..." The Captain started, then sighed, following after the Vice-Captain. Not like I don't need a drink after that either...

The men hopped upon their Blitz Steeds. Saddled up they checked each other and began their ride. Each with a heavy heart and their guts telling them that the threat of death isn't near, but it is certain.
