Chapter 2: The Nutcrackers Part 1

Ben and Henry look behind at the cornfields only to see the noise has stopped. "Don't worry, Henry, it must be a wild raccoon or another wild animal moving around in the cornfield," exclaims Ben and Henry just nods. Henry moves away from the cornfield to the bulldog animatronics and signals to Ben to check it out. "It has been a long time since I took a photo here," said Henry Ben. "I didn't expect you would like these kinds of places." "Well, I remember coming here a lot when I was kid, mostly because the pizza was the best here in town then." Henry put a quarter into the animatronic right paw and then positioned himself in an excellent place to take the photo. Five seconds later, a light flashed from the animatronic mouth, and a picture came from the output tray. Henry grabbed the photo and saw it had pretty good quality, but one in the background caught Henry's eye. It was a tail pointing upwards in the cornfield, which looked like a lizard's tail but had feathers. Henry couldn't tell the color of the tail as it was dark outside at this point, but it seemed like a black tail with white feathers.

Henry handed the photo to Ben to look at while staring at the cornfield, now swaying back and forth from the windy weather. Ben seemed shocked at first at what was in the photo but just chalked it up to being lousy photo quality because of the animatronic old age since Kosaku created it in 1993 and that it was most likely a wild animal that showed up in the photo as a blur in the dark of night. Ben rushes over to their police car, with Henry following close behind as they don't want to anger whatever animal is there. After clocking out, they arrived 10 minutes later at their favorite pizza shop, Joshu Pizza. They stayed there for about an hour before leaving. Henry arrived at his home at 9:00 pm and was greeted by his cousin Samuel, who pulled in around the same time. They went inside their house, where they lived together, to have coffee and then went to bed. They lived in Henry's childhood home, which Henry's father sold to Samuel a year ago when he moved to California for his new successful pharmacist business. Henry's dad did offer to bring Henry with him, but Samuel said he could stay as Henry was in his last year of high school. Henry took the latter and decided to stay in the town he had grown attached to. The next day, Samuel woke up earlier in the morning by Samuel as he made homemade pancakes, so the two went downstairs to eat. Henry said as the two sat down to eat, "What the special occasion, Samuel."

"Well, Vincent(Henry's true name, Henry is a nickname), I got the raise I keep asking for, so I decided we should celebrate today," said Samuel. "I guess it makes sense since we usually get breakfast from Phantom Fast Foods on Thursday," said Vincent. "Oh, Vincent, I received a phone call from your dad saying he has a small side job for you from November 12th to December 11th on weekends. Dad would pay you 5k for the work if you wanted to take it. He says he will phone later at 8:30 pm tomorrow to give extra details if you are interested," said Samuel. "5K; Dad must be in a hurry if he is going to pay that much for a job; I wonder what job it is," said Vincent. Samuel agreed with Henry on that point while finishing up his breakfast. After cleaning the dishes, both got ready for their respective jobs. Samuel works as a technician, leaving for work earlier than Vincent at 8:20 am.

On the other hand, Vincent leaves for work 40 minutes later at 9:00 am. As Vincent was about to open his car door, he noticed his neighbor's car pulled into their driveway on the right. Vincent waved to them once they came out of their car, then got into their vehicle, where he noticed another case of favoritism. Since Vincent and Samuel would get breakfast outside every Thursday, they would sometimes see the family at the restaurant and come home. They have one older daughter who is 19 years old, the same age as Vincent, and two other kids around the ages of 10 and 12. The neighbor had lived here for four years, so Vincent and Samuel often saw them. Vincent would see that the 12-year-old was spoiled as he held two bags and talked about how he got two meals while the 10-year-old had just one bag. At first, he and Samuel thought nothing of it, but it kept happening. It even happens in different forms, like with toys, snacks, and ice cream. It became so blatant from how often we would see them come with stuff as they usually come home around the same time as us, well, except for the daughter. Vincent and Samuel didn't say anything because it wasn't our business, as the mom was known throughout the neighborhood to have quite a temper, and they didn't want to deal with it. Vincent just sighed as he turned on his car and left for work. It was a 15-minute drive for Vincent to arrive at the police station. However, it was still early, so Vincent decided to grab a coffee along the way. Once he arrived at the police station, he noticed a familiar car parked in the visitor area. It was the car that belonged to the parents who lost their kids yesterday; as he saw it, Vincent hoped that everything was alright with the kids. Vincent entered the building to look for his partner, Ben, and found him in his office, looking over some documents. One of the document's names caught Vincent's eyes: The Ribbon Killer.
