I had actually been accepted and only needed 1 ruby bar. I definitely had enough, and my dorms were free. I ended up deciding not to dorm, not trying to get stabbed in my sleep. On Monday I walked to the school to pay my dues and get my uniform. It was a 30 minute walk at a leisurely pace and I was in a good mood. I got to the main building. It was like a collage. They had completely taken over the surrounding area. The pamphlet said the entire campus covered 30,000 acres. There was a library, pool, flyball stadium, student dorms, teacher dorms, Adventurer Academy, Protector Academy, and the main building, 10 stories tall, with the regular classes. The main building was shaped like a shield. The library, student dorms, flyball stadium, and pool were on the left. The Academies, and teacher dorms were on the right.

I walked through the front gate and towards the school. There were some students chilling about, talking, and going to other buildings. I was a little late this year, (I failed the first test a few months ago), but they always let some people who got close study up and retake later. It was January, and school started last September. I didn't miss too much. Now all I had to do was pay those ruby bars yearly and I was good to go.

I walked to the principal's office and was sent in by the secretary. He was an old man, probably in his late 60's. His name was Mr.Old. He didn't look old though. He looked as if he was still in his mid 20's. He nodded to me and I walked in to the principal. She was also young, maybe 30, and had this mature beauty. She had orange hair that was tied up in a bun. Her chest bulged underneath her black jacket and blue shirt. She had thin eyes that made it seem like she was always squinting. She looked at me with her fiery orange eyes and down at some papers. "Kenneth Dormatru correct." I only nodded. She passed me a paper and I signed after skimming through it. It talked about following the Code of Conduct and all that. And no refunds of course. I felt like this should have been done at a different time.

After completing the paperwork, Principal Lamb, (yes that's her name), sent me off to class while everything was validated. I was walking through the halls looking at my schedule. Classes started 30 minutes ago, but there were still 15 minutes of Algebra left. I groaned as I ran to the 3rd floor and into the class. The teacher, a tall and stout man with a thick viking beard and rectangular glasses, looked at me. I waved and looked over at the rest of the students. Even though you were allowed to retake, the school still almost never accepted anyone.

"Ah, you're my newest student. Do you mind if you introduce yourself." I turned to the students and saw her. The bright blue hair was hard to miss, and the way she tried to hide herself, and the fact she was in the front row, like always, had the opposite affect and just drew my attention. I didn't know what to think at that moment. Anger, regret? I decided to wait until later and calmed myself to do my introduction. "My name is Kenneth and I hope to have a good few years with you all!" Complete bullshit, but I wasn't going to tell everyone I didn't like them right off the bat. No need to make unnecessary enemies, especially on the first day. "Thank you Kenneth, please take that seat there." I went to the back row and didn't even give Eileen another glance. I put down my bag and waited for class to end.

It finished in a few minutes and everyone was packing their things. A cute girl walked up to me. Something I was used to by now. She was 3 cm. Shorter than me at 170, and had pink, almost red hair. She kept it straight and a bit went over her left shoulder in a braid adorned with small blue pearls. Like everyone else, she had no makeup or anything, but still had wide brown eyes that made her look like a puppy. She had on the normal uniform and wore her skirt a little above her knees. "Hey Kenneth, my name's Alicia. Can I ask, what district are you from?" I smiled and gave my honest answer. She seemed nice so I answered her questions while I finished packing. (Don't know why I even bothered to unpack anyway. There was like five minutes of class left.) I closed my bag, and the question I've been anticipating still caught me off guard. She had a totally different energy to her. It was almost menacing.

"So, what kind of ability do you have." Everyone's attention went straight to me. Based on how I answered, it would determine how they treated me. A stray cat, or a person. I felt my tail tense. I looked over at Eileen who hid herself. I don't think I'd be able to survive with her around. I grabbed my bag and threw it on my shoulder. I looked Alicia right in her eyes. Although I had a dangerous look, my insides were swirling. Why the fuck was SHE in my class. I could remember all the things I had done. Monster. The last word I heard from her before I sent her to the hospital.

"None of your buisness." What the fuck am I doing. I just asked myself for a fight. Oh well. I walked out before I could see Alicia's look of disgust. The second I got to the hallway, I began to run.

I woke up that morning and took a shower. There were classes today and I had to prepare myself for the test. I activated my power and took a glimpse into the future. I could see the questions on the history test. I began to write them down and look up the answers. My roommate, Kaia, poked her head in. She was nice, and a little too playful. She was taller than me, 169 cm. And way more powerful. Her ability level was a 6.3. As a first year she already rose to the top and even accepted me, a lowly 2.9. She also had some of the largest breasts in school, she was an DD cup and I was just a B. She was better than me in every way, except tests. "What are you doing?" She asked and walked in. She looked at my paper and laughed. "Hey I'm taking that test too you know. Let me get a copy!" She made puppy dog with her big red eyes. I only sighed and began to write. "You should study more. Then you won't need these." Kaia began tying her hair into a low ponytail. "I don't see you studying. So neither shall I!" I chuckled and finished the paper. "The test is last period, so make sure you at least study this." Kaia nodded and began reading over the paper. "Good, good. If I still fail, I'm blaming you" She ran out of my room, crushing the paper in her hand. I sighed and finished dressing. I walked out and began to walk to class with Kaia.

During homeroom, all we did was secretly finish the rest of our homework and read over the test answers. After a few minutes, our Algebra teacher walked in and collected the homework. We went through the class and I just doodled in my notebook when HE walked in. Fear instantly gripped me and I instinctively tried to hide. Kenneth, from only 2 years ago. He looked at me, and I could tell he had conflicting emotions. I knew he liked me, but he was simply too strong. He said his introduction and walked to his seat. He even took out his notebook and took "notes". I sadly reminisced how he taught me how to draw and even got me into drawing in class. If only he hadn't changed. If only I hadn't-

My thoughts were interrupted by the bell and I began to pack. Kaia walked over to me. "Eileen, the new boy, do you know him?" I frantically shook my head. Kaia sighed. "I see the way you look at him, you're scared, but you seemed to have a good relationship with him. Is he the one Mike told me about?" Hearing that Mike talked to her about Kenneth confused me. He was the first one to decide to never talk about him again, if he told Kaia… "Were you talking to Kenneth about me?" Kaia shrugged. "I asked him what he'd do if there was competition, and he mentioned Kenneth." I rubbed my temples. It was a stupid thing to be mad about by I was already confused on what was happening. The next thing I heard made me choke.

"So, what kind of ability do you have." Alicia, asked him. Everyone looked over. I knew Kenneth since we were kids, and that was the question he hated most. His dad had been used as bait because he was the weak one and disposable. So anytime someone treated him nice because he was strong, he'd beat them. He was level 6.1 two whole years ago. I saw him give me a look and looked back at Alicia. "None of your business" He answered, then walked out. I was shocked to hear him say somthing so stupid. We agreed on many things, and you had to establish your place to avoid any unnecessary conflict. That's why I tried to stop him, and paid the price. Kaia whistled and everyone looked at her. She looked at everyone else with a questioning look. Forrest stood up and began to walk to the door. Kaia grabbed his shoulder and gave him a look. He looked back and shrugged her hand off. "Order has to be maintained, and I don't want an unknown." He activated his ability and ran out the door. Kaia gave me a sorry look and I almost felt bad for Forrest. He was strong, so Kaia couldn't easily challenge him, but against Kenneth, being strong was not going to help. If Kenneth reverted back to his old ways, I wouldn't know what to do so I nodded at Kaia and her eyes began to glow.

I began to run. I said the wrong thing but how could I proudly exclaim my power with Alicia right there. I felt bad enough about what I did, and in heat, I might do it again. I could feel a power signature closing in on me so last second I turned and put up my arms to block the attack. The beam went right through my forearm and into my shoulder. I fell to the floor and rolled to the side to dodge the next attack but none came. I looked around and saw no one but a tree. I grabbed it and set up a link to heal myself. I turned and ran again as students began to leave their classes.
