All the photos taken during the school prom, all had one thing in common, what was that? Was it the fact that all of them had a smile on their faces?
no.
Was it the fact that all the girls somehow wore the same dress?
No!
in the back of every single one of those photos, a certain boy could be seen, either fiddling with his fingers or bobbing his head awkwardly to the music.
And THAT boy was me!
throughout my whole life, I have always been left out. It was as if I never even existed! Hell, I remember that one time my 2nd-grade teacher forgot about me on that class field trip to the zoo, and when everyone was taking their buses back home, Here I was, talking to monkeys, If it weren't for a staff seeing me act stupid, I probably would've had to live with the monkeys!
And that same routine of being forgotten and left out was carried throughout my whole life.
But one day as I was sleeping in my bed, a strange light appeared, covering the pitch black view of my eyelids.
With myself still half asleep, trying to get back to my wonderful dreamland, I sat up and began swatting in front of my face, frantically trying to get rid of it, as if it were some annoying bug.
'Hm?' Wait a minute.
When I swatted in front of my eyes, I saw something odd..
I slowly put my right hand in front of my face,
"W-Wh- What the hell!?" I could see my palm vividly, meaning, that what i was seeing was an actual place.
I was now fully awake.
A dream? Maybe, A nightmare, probably.
As I contemplated these thoughts inside my mind, I could hear a shuffling noise behind me.
gulp..
I slowly turned my head to face the noise behind me, Sweat trickled down my forehead with anticipation of something horrifying standing behind me.
'The hell..? is that an old man?'
My investigation was complete, it was but some random old guy.
I turned my attention back to before and began to wave my hands in front of my face. Upon that, the elderly man flinched.
The old man raised his right arm to his chest and struck it.
Ahem!
Seeing that he still didn't have my attention, he did it once more.
Ahem!
"..."
I continued to wave my hands in front of my face like a idiot.
A vein appeared on the old man's head.
Ahem!
Ahem!
Ahem!
The old man continuously pounded his chest while swinging his hips forward each time his hand struck. He resembled a madman.
The old man took a long pause before taking a neutral stance, not long after another vein appeared on his forehead.
"STOP MAKING ME LOOK DUMB!" The old man threw a punch that sent the young boy flying a few meters away.
"GHAA-"
A imprint of his fist was embedded into the young boy's cheek.
Smoke was rising from where I was struck, and my limbs which were contorted into the air, twitched, like a bug that had just gotten slapped by a sandal.
"What the hell!" I shouted at the old man as I sat back up.
"Listen when people are talking to you!" The old geezer yelled at me in an irritated tone.
"Huh?! Talking?, all i heard was some maniac coughing the entire time!" I protested.
The old geezer curled up his fist and slowly brought it up right next to his face.
Wham!
As I was rubbing my now-swollen cheek. The old geezer walked up in front of me and sat down, he then snapped his fingers and a small table appeared between him and I, he put his arms down on the table and clasped his hands. He stared at me with serious eyes and began explaining everything.
...
I nodded, "So you are a god."
The old man nodded in agreement.
"And someone had to save one of your many worlds, due to a unknown future calamity,"
The old man nodded in agreement once again.
"And you chose me, because, I quote, 'my life was worthless anyway.' "
The old man nodded-
"The hell? My life is in no way worthless! In fact, I believe me being there, probably prevented World War 3 or something!" I protested against the claim.
The Old geezer gave me a suspicious look.
The Old geezer then spoke, "You'll have magic powers."
Upon hearing that, I immediately shut up. My mouth began to contort into a weird grin, as I thought about it.
"Geh-heh-hehh~" Just imagining about it, made my whole body wobbley like jello.
"Magic powers~ Ma- Magic~" I was beyond excited, As a little kid I had always dreamt of having super powers.
The Old geezer stared at me in the midst of all this, "Maybe, I should I find someone else..." He muttered quietly to himself, But my ears picked it up instantly, My nose flared as I begged him not to.
Sighing, The Old geezer decided to move on with it. He told me that he would be giving me important guidance and suggestions along my journey whenever I needed it.
Half-heartedly listening, I nodded, still excited by the fact I would be able to use magic. He then also added, " The way your body is, Im afraid you cant use magic, yet, as it is too weak."
'Huh?'
He immediately had my full attention once more.
"You'll have to start from scratch and build it up from there."
Wait a damn minute, Wait a damn minute! What did I just hear?
Start from scratch? Build it up? Oh HELL no!
As the world crumbled around me, a genius suggestion, the most intelligent thing I could've ever mustered in this situation, came to my mind.
"Can't you just make me a new body?" Hope began to resurface on my face, my crumpled dreams began to unravel.
"..." the Old geezer sat there in silence. He seemed to be contemplating hard about it.
As he glanced up at me, seeing my attempt at making puppy eyes, he smiled softly, "Fine, Fine."
'LET'S GOO!" All my excitement from earlier was restored, The old man then raised his hand upwards, and as he did that, a beam of light struck me, My vision began to fade into darkness, and as everything around me faded, i heard one final distant message. "Good luck."
...
Hm? Whats this?
pitch black darkness still surrounded me, I suspected that my new body was in some sort of sleeping state, so I tried to move my body around, nothing.
Then, after a couple of seconds, I heard a loud pain-induced scream came from somewhere, no, it was more like, everywhere. suddenly, a small light shone in front of me.
'That must be the exit!' I pushed my body to move forward. The light grew brighter and closer with each second.
'FREEDOM!"
...
"waah! waaah! waaaah!"
huh?
A beautiful woman was holding me in her arms, she was cradling me as if I was..
'A Baby!?'
Wait.. when I said I wanted a new body, I did not mean this!
As the beautiful woman held and cradled me, I heard a familiar laughter sound inside of my mind.
(Hahahaha!)
'Darn you, old geezer!'
...
As I grew up a bit, I began to start picking up this world's language, like "Ta-huar" which means milk. Don't ask how I know that. Oh, and I finally got to examine myself in a mirror. I don't know if it's cause I'm still a child but my looks could use some work. I only had a few scruffs of white hair on my head, my blue eyes were cool though.
At the age of 5, I began to start reading simple to understand books about, concepts like magic, and how in this world, mana is everywhere around us and to start using it, you have to first learn proper breathing technique in order to start getting your body used to feeling the mana inside of your body.
Basically, I still ended up having to learn it and start from stratch.
sigh-
Eventually, after a few months, I began being able to channel my mana into any area in my body, which was called enhancement, It could be used to toughen and strengthen certain parts of your body, and at higher levels, could be used to enhance weapons.
...
"Shit!"
Another failure. I was practicing simple low-grade spells I learned in my spacious backyard. I never truly thought about it, but Damn! my parents are rich af.
A golden water fountain sat in the middle of the backyard, We had numerous bushes in the shape of different animals on each side.
shaking off my distractive thoughts I continued practicing low-grade spells.
I channeled my mana into a small singular point on my index finger and, before I knew it, A high-speed spinning water ball the size of a pebble manifested out of thin air..
'Please, let this work' I closed my eyes and hoped for the best.
1..
2..
..3.
"Go!" I pointed my finger toward a random surface on the ground and aimed..
{Water bullet!}
At high speeds, the bullet flew towards the planned target before drilling into the dirt at immense speed. It drilled like 2 centimeters..
But who cares, I'll become even stronger in the future, all that matters is that...
.
"I DID IT!!" A thunderous cheer exploded out of me,
I sat down and panted in exhaustion, sweat was all over my body,
I had been training in secret so as to not cause suspicion in my family, due to the fact I was still only 6 years old, and I'd assume, no, I KNOW kids my age wouldn't ever be as talented as I was.
An immense wave of victory that came over me.
I laid down on my back, trying to catch my breath.
After a few minutes, a familiar voice emerged from inside my mind.
(Finally, did it? )
A sudden vein appeared on top of my forehead, "Krk.. Have you been watching me this whole time?!"
(Yeah. )
I got up and looked towards the sky before throwing my hands in the air. "Didn't you tell me that you would guide me along the way, where the hell has that guidance been!? So far I've been the one doing all the work!"
(I'll help you, when i need to.)
Hearing that another vein appeared on top of my forehead.. ugh, there's no use arguing with this senile old man.
I sighed and began to wipe my sweat off before heading back inside of my home.
As I made my way to the bathroom to clean myself off, I thought of my previous success, Shivers of excitement ran down my body. I decided I could focus proper hygiene another day. Immediately I ran to my room and closed the door shut behind me so that I could study more spells.
I began to think to myself, 'damn, I must be talented as hell.'
