Chapter 136

I take a deep breath and connect my magic to the massive diamond underneath me. A second later, a massive portal appears.

"Alright, people. The portal is ready!"

I watch as three hundred men walk through the portal while carrying a lot of items. Other than the food, they also carry any item the engineer and the alchemist need to make the weapon for the incoming fight.

Moving all the goods to the other side takes almost five hours. I'm lucky that Lunaria is full of mana, pure mana. If this is the north, it will take longer as I need to refill my reserve every now and then.

When I walk through the portal, I can see people already busy making sure this place is as fortified as possible. I walk to an old, short man holding a paper stack. He is Alexander, the head engineer of this project.

"Your highness."

"Alexander. How is it? Can it be done?"

"The catapult and the trap can be done by tomorrow morning. Even with the help of the Magician Division, we still have a lot of work to be done."

"That is okay. Tomorrow morning is still good."

After saying that, I left him to do what needed to be done. I walk to the man looking at the map; he is a young general who volunteers to accompany me to this place. He is young but has already won two battles against the Dothraki in Stormfist.

Bakir recommended him as my second in command in this fight.

"How is it, Vyran? Have you found a great place to set a trap?"

"Your highness!"

He bows for a second and says.

"Yes, your highness. You choose a great place to set up a fortress. The only way for our enemy to march is through this, as we are standing between two massive cliffs. The only way they can go is through this."

He points at the map.

"They need to follow the riverbank."

"How about the cliff? They are undead. They cannot die by a mundane thing like height. Their legs might break, but they can still crawl to you."

"That… I did not think of that. We are not facing humans but monsters. Can you tell me what an undead is? I know they are the dead who resurrected and turned into walking corpses."

"The undead or Wights, if we go by the name the northern people give them, is a walking corpse. The Night King, our main enemy, creates them using necromancy. A regular sword and arrow cannot kill them. They must be made using magic or metal with a magic property. As undead, they did not need to eat or rest, so they could march night and day without stopping."

"An enemy who never gets tired and cannot be killed using a regular weapon. Is that the reason why you order a large number of weapons made from Dragonglass?"

"Yes. The undead main weakness is an Intense Heat or magical weapon. Dragonglass has both of them. Dragonglass has a magic property that mimics Dragon's Fire."

"Even though it is cold when I touch it?"

"Yes. It only works when it touches something with the opposite element of it. That is where the undead come from. They have an element of ice."

"I see. However, isn't Dragonglass more brittle than steel?"

"You don't need to worry about it. I will take care of that problem."

Dragonglass only gets brittle when there is a lack of mana inside of it. When it has mana inside of it, it is as good as steel, maybe even more durable. It cannot be compared to Valyrian Steel, but it is getting there. With more testing and calculating, I will have a sword made of Dragonglass with the same durability as a Valyrian Blade.

I shake my head, discarding the thought of the experiment for a moment. I need to focus on this for now.

"Anyway, tell me when you want to build something to prevent them from jumping at us. I will not discard the chance of them to use their fellow undead as a cushion for the other undead when they use the cliff."

"Of course, your highness. I already have a few designs to prevent them from getting here. However, I need to speak with the magician division and the engineer first."

"I will leave it to you."

"Yes! I will not disappoint you!"

I nod and walk to the wall, where I can see a man wearing a black robe watching over the people creating a barrier around the fortress.

"Allen, how is it?"

The middle-aged man looks at me and gives me a bow.

"Your Highness. The progress is slow but steady. We should be done before the sun goes down."

I nod at his answer. What they are doing is strengthening the barrier that I made around the fortress. The barrier will stop any creatures with necrotic energy inside their bodies. While the barrier will stop the incoming army, it can be breached, and once it is gone, the undead will reach the wall.

If the barrier is gone, the undead coming from above will have an easy time attacking us. What makes matters worse, they will arrive inside the wall. From the legend, the Night's King can raise someone who died. It is not like a zombie in a film where they can spread the virus by biting the survivor, lucky for us.

I shake my head and say.

"That is good, but we need to finish this fast. Let me help you guys."

I jump down the wall without letting Allen say something and use my gravity magic to land safely. I join the other Black Dogs and White Cats when I land to strengthen the barrier.

|3rd POV|

Jeor Mormont, the Lord Commander of the Night's Watch, leads his men through thick snow. They are currently on an expedition after he hears some weird movement from the north and how his friend and one of the rangers, Benjen Stark, have gone missing.

Jeor and his men arrive inside a hall of someone's house. The night's watch calls this place Craster's Keep, as the owner of this place is called Craster.

"So you want to know the reason why the wildlings move north, aye?"

Jeor nodded his head.

"Aye. This is the first time I hear them move north instead of going south."

"Then you are in luck. They just passed here a couple of hours ago. Their destination is the Fist of the First Men. However, I need to warn you about something."

"What is it?"

"There will be a battle. Not a battle against humans but a battle against something worse. One of the Greenseer, one of oldest and the greatest, predicted the last stand of man will happen."

"And you believe this?"

"Hah! You, people, might be forgetting about the old way, but we are not. When the Greenseer asks for arms, we will do it."

"And why are you still here?"

"Because I'm a coward."

Jeor looked at him in shock. He knows Craster. The older man in front of him will never call himself a coward because he is stubborn and prideful.

"Go. Follow the path to the north, and you will see something you would never have thought to see in the north. Leave me alone. I need to prepare to face my ancestors, who will be disappointed in me."

Jeor looked at him one last time before getting up. He ordered his men to move out and continue their journey north.

They continue to walk through the thick snow, and just before the sun is gone, they arrive in front of a massive fortress in the middle of the snow.

"What? How?"

Jeor knows the building in front of him should not be in this place. He went through this place last year.

He snaps from his thoughts when he hears a roar coming from the sky. He looks up to the sky and sees three dragons flying down. A second later, they land next to him and his men. Jeor shields his eyes and takes out his sword, anticipating a fight.

However, instead of fire flying at him, a man with silver eyes and purple eyes gets down from the dragon and says.

"My name is Viserys Targaryen. Welcome to the Draconica Castle, where a fight between men and monsters will commence soon. Welcome, Ranger of Night's Watch."
