Chapter One

It was raining heavily. The heavy rain was accompanied by tremendous gusts of wind which blew in every direction. The sky was black like coal and it emanated a grim aura. The incessant rain-pour bared its fangs and its intensity increased.

Those who thought they could manage realized how mistaken they were. People ran to take shelter in their homes or under a barrier to shield them from the harsh rainfall.

Christina Stones stood in her living room, she was of average height but had desirable facial features, and her hand clutched a fabulously wrapped present with a small card with the description. 'To the love of my life. Merry Christmas.' She bit her lower lip as she stared through the window, her left eye twitched uncontrollably.

"Ughh," she muttered as she set her present down on a brown table adjacent to her, she took a seat beside the table and turned to the refrigerator which was erected close to the window. Her focus wasn't on the refrigerator but rather on a piece of paper that was located at its top. It was a small multicolored calendar showing different plants on each page.

Most of the dates had been ticked but there was a circle on December 24.

"I wanted to make this year special," she kept muttering to herself. "Jason was a loving boyfriend, he was always there for me every time I needed help. Thought to surprise him but this blasted rain won't stop."

Christina stood up after a while, she could feel her stomach rumbling. She walked over to the refrigerator, there was a small pink cat sticker beside the calendar. Christina blushed when she saw the sticker, it gave her nostalgia for a memory shared between her and Jason "I am going to his dormitory," she said firmly.

Briskly, she ran to her room and grabbed her umbrella. She was dressed in a loose T-shirt and track pants.

Hastily, she ran downstairs and grabbed the present from the table. She took a deep breath as she opened the door, the rain was still pouring heavily but that was not enough to stop her!

"The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step," she murmured to herself before she blushed lightly. "Why am I so dramatic!"

She opened up her umbrella and ran as fast as her legs could carry her. She kept envisioning the surprise on her boyfriend's face when he saw her. The more she thought about it, the harder she blushed.

"This is going to be like a Cinderella story except for this time, Cinderella is going to the prince!"

She stopped in front of a long wide building. At the center of the building, there was a notice which read 'Kingsville Hostel.'

"Uni would have been so boring without Jason, he's my whole world," she giggled cheerily. "Can't wait to see the look on his face."

She looked through the glass on the door. The housemaster of the hostel wasn't in his usual position.

"That's strange," she thought to herself. "Well, works for me. I would have had to bribe him, more to save for the new year."

She opened the door lightly, she could feel her heart beating with excitement. She had run a long way, despite the unforgiving rain. Her white sneakers had taken a brown coloration due to the muddy water she ran on. Everything would be worth it when Jason gave her his charming smile.

She came to a halt, her face was still red with excitement. She was standing in front of a white door. On the white door was a description that read '111.'

Christina was about to knock but she was taken aback by the sounds she heard. She could hear audible moans and Jason's deep groovy voice. It wasn't just the sound of Jason's macho voice that scared her, the sound of the euphonious moans felt uncomfortably familiar!

"It can't be," she gritted furiously as she pushed open the door. Christina felt her world shatter, her mouth was left wide open as she stared at the sight in front of her. Absentmindedly, she dropped the umbrella and gift box. Her body slowly inched towards the bed. The aghast look on her face revealed the indescribable astonishment she felt within. As she walked further, the dismayed look on her face intensified even more as she came closer to the sight before her - There was a young naked woman, she looked a lot like Christina but her breasts were bigger. She was sitting on top of a devilishly handsome Caucasian man. From their position, Christian could see that the man's genitalia was inside the woman.

Christina staggered backward, she could feel her head turning, and her left eye was twitching uncontrollably. The girl sitting on the man was her sister and the man was her boyfriend.

Jason wore a startled look. Dramatically, his startled look transformed into a mortified expression.

"Chris..."

"Don't!" Christina screamed. "I always knew my little sister was a bitch," tears filled her eyes as she found the words to speak. "But you, I expected more."

"Tina, come on," The young woman scoffed. "Don't be such a drama queen. You were always talking about your boyfriend, had to see how sweet he was. I have to say, you've got good taste. We finally have something in common."

"Donna, Fuck you!" Christina screamed and ran out of the room. Her face had turned red with exasperation.

"Chris, wait!" Jason called after her, he pushed Donna away but he didn't get far before he fell to the ground.

Christina didn't pay any attention to his pleas. She shut her eyes painfully, she felt so dejected and betrayed. She had seen Jason as her Romeo, she always envisioned both of them getting married and having kids. Her friends had called her naive but she didn't care.

Suddenly, her body crashed against another object; it felt like a tall, sturdy, and masculine body. She opened her eyes involuntarily as she fell to the ground.

She would have fallen to the ground but a hand held her, she looked at her savior. He was a 6'3 handsome and muscular man. His brownish eyes were a sight to behold and his lips were heart-shaped. He had a well-defined jawline. This felt like a dream and Christina didn't want it to end.

"Are you alright?" He asked in a suave southern British accent but Christina knew that accent even though she didn't hail from the United Kingdom. She had heard it on numerous occasions. It was a...

"Are you a British royal?" She asked and stood to her ground. Her tone beamed with wonderment and her eyes opened even wider as she admired the features of the man before her.

He was taken aback, he looked... astounded. Almost, as if this was completely unexpected.

"Yes but not in the way you expect," he regained his composure and opened his mouth partly showing a set of dazzling white teeth. "I thought I was well-hidden. Didn't expect anyone to figure that out."

"That accent of yours is a complete giveaway," Christina grinned childishly. "Everyone you speak to will find that out right away."

"I'll have to change then," he said in a deep musty voice that had lost every trace of its British uniqueness.

"How did you do that?" Christina gaped.

"A guard is sworn my oath to be of utmost discretion," He smiled warmly.

"Didn't know guards were held to oaths like that. Ooh, it all makes sense now," Christina stomped her right foot dramatically as her eyes opened even wider revealing the innate epiphany. "I was wondering which Prince you are, I had never seen you on TV and I like to think I know everyone in the British royal family. You are one of the guards but who knew guards could be this good-looking," Christina's forehead turned red and she quickly covered her mouth as if to refute the last thing she said.

The guard laughed cheerily at what she said. "Thank you, it warms my heart to receive a compliment from a fair maiden such as yourself."

"Don't start going all medieval British on me, sire," Christina's face beamed with even more smiles.

"I shall not," he adopted a knight posture. "For my sole purpose is the safety of the fairest lady who walks upon these lands."

Christina burst into a peal of laughter, the man before her watched. His face opened up to reveal a warm smile and oddly, he looked like he was at peace. "I didn't even ask," he looked in her direction. "What's your name?"

Christina held herself together and gazed upon him. His face looked less burdened. It was strange, she just noticed how cherry he now seemed. She was about to answer but the voice of her sister reverberated around.

"I leave you for one second and you found me another hot boy. I'm starting to think you are a glutton for punishment," There was a snarky remark to her tone.

Christina's left eye began to twitch uncomfortably as she turned in her sister's direction. Her lips trembled in anger and her arms shook with pain. She wanted to run and strangle her sister.

"Pretty boy," Donna's attention was on the man before her. "I don't believe I have seen you before. What's your name?"

"Charles," he replied bluntly in his newfound accent. "And you must be..." He motioned to her as if expecting an answer.

"Rude, much," Donna glanced evilly in her sister's direction. "You couldn't even tell Prince Charles about your dear sister, I'm so heartbroken," she swayed her head amorously in Charles' direction letting her long lustrous hair brush against her tender face, her eyelids dropped slightly lower and her lips purred inaudibly. "Well, Pretty boy will have to make it up to me."

"You bitch!" Christina screamed and ran away.

"That's my sister, always running," Donna's left hip was positioned higher than her left. She had an intimidating look of dalliance as she stared at Charles like a predator looks at its prey. "Show me your room and I'll show you another use for legs. "

The lines on Charles' face turned, he was dumbfounded.

"She's your sister, how can you be so heartless?" He asked, there was a tone of genuine concern which was further proven by the look on his face.

"Does pretty boy have a thing for my dorky sister?"

"That is unimportant," he sighed and turned away from her. "Family is the one gift everyone was blessed with. Unfortunately, not everyone gets to hold that gift for long. I hope it's not until you lose the gift that you realize its value." After he had spoken, he sprinted away.
