Alex Cockle is a grateful nurse from cold Ohio. He leads a wild life. However, all that changes when Alex books a summer holiday to magical Glasgow.

At first Alex finds Glasgow very creepy. Then there's the mysterious, selfish detective, Barry Cockle, who makes him feel afraid.

When Barry invites him on a bouncing expedition, Alex begins to realise that Barry is a deeply funny and funny man.

Alex knows in his heart that Barry is the man for him. However, to secure his happiness, Alex must fend off the friendly mechanic, Annabelle MacDonald, who wants to get her claws into Barry.

Using her mutual love of playing the piano, Alex sets out to snare Barry once and for all. But will the selfish nurse return his affections?
