The long-awaited day had finally arrived. Asmo's invitation for the fallen angels to gather on his private island had proven successful. Everyone had shown up, except Belzebub. Asmo couldn't help but notice this absence and turned to Mammon for an explanation.
Mammon revealed that Belzebub had downplayed the significance of the family meeting, claiming his status as the prince of demons meant he had other responsibilities. According to Mammon, Belzebub argued that if he joined the gathering, there would be no one to keep the unruly demons in line. Asmo suspected that this was just a convenient excuse, considering Belzebub's previous absences at Asmo's recovery party and the memorable feast at Asmo's house. What could Belzebub be up to?
It was unusual for Belzebub to distance himself from his brothers' affairs. Asmo used to jestingly refer to him as "Satan's little bouncer" due to his unwavering support for the Prince of Wrath.
Belzebub and Satan shared an unbreakable bond of evil, second only to the connection between Lucifer and the baddest Devil to ever walk the earth. They were akin to father and son, inseparable and at times, nearly indistinguishable. In some religious beliefs, they were even considered to be the same entity. It was said that Satan imparted all his knowledge to Belzebub, from combat skills to the acts that epitomized true evil on Earth.
The schism between Belzebub and his brothers began when news arrived that he had been attacked by a group of Reincarnates – a special breed of humans who were reborn, often given a second chance to right the wrongs of their past lives or to fulfill a specific purpose on Earth. Despite not being as formidable as Transcendants like Elijah and Moses, Reincarnates were a demon's worst nightmare. The severity of the attack stemmed from the fact that Samson, the mightiest man to have ever lived, led the assault. The Reincarnates succeeded in destroying Belzebub's host body, but being the formidable prince of demons, Belzebub swiftly summoned swarms of demons to the vicinity, and they even pursued the attackers' families.
Belzebub achieved a significant victory by possessing Samson's body as a fresh replacement for what he had lost in the attack. This was considered a major win for hell at the time. However, since then, Belzebub had been spending more time with his demons than with his brothers. He even started leaving blue ticks on Satan's messages to him slowly turning their relationship into a classic reversal of roles as the student turned on his master.
Satan chose to ignore him, while Lucifer, who was already an egoistic, self-preserved immortal with patience the size of Jupiter, advised them to give Belzebub some space. He explained that Belzebub was likely resentful that none of his brothers had come to his rescue when he was ambushed by the best of the best in history.
After all, Belzebub wasn't full of himself for no reason. He had indeed defeated Samson and his group of reincarnates, and also eliminated the rest of their families and friends with only demons as his backup.
In the present, Asmo nonchalantly dismissed Belzebub as a party pooper and a staunch supporter of Satan, always ready to back the Prince of Wrath. Instead, he focused on those who were present, having gathered them at his alluring retreat—secretly known as the Devil's Resort. The island was a stunning paradise with tropical weather conditions, short coconut trees, meticulously adorned vegetation, and a vast array of solar panels providing clean energy to power the Resort. Asmo was determined to even give the Ozone layer a break during the festive holidays.
It had been Belzebub and Satan's brightest idea to destroy the ozone layer and exacerbate global warming while contemplating how to torment future generations of humanity yet to be born.
The concept disgusted Asmo, not only because of the suffering it would bring upon future generations, but also because it destroyed the beauty of the planet Earth that would be lost in their reckless pursuit of fulfilling the prophecy of inflicting unimaginable pain upon humanity before the judgment trumpets sounded.
Lucifer even found the whole idea a bit childish, but he knew there was little they could do to dissuade the determined minds of Satan and his copycat, Belzebub. While everything on the island was luxurious and elegant, Lucifer, as astute as ever, noticed the loophole in the beautiful scenery. He turned to question Asmo as the brothers sat around a huge golden table, awaiting their appetizers before the main course. "Asmodeus, where are the human servants working for you at this so-called Devil's Resort?"
All heads turned to the Prince of Lust, their eyes fixed on him, and their ears eager to hear his explanation for bringing them to his supposed fallen angel paradise without considering who would do all the work while they relaxed and chilled.
Asmo burst into cynical laughter, then, after regaining his composure, he walked to Mammon's side, placed his hands on his shoulders, and exclaimed, "Brothers, do any of you remember how we started from the bottom? Am I the only one who recalls our lives before and after Noah's time? I miss those days when finding a body to possess was a struggle, reminiscing about the times when we didn't get lost in human pleasures and didn't need humans to exist."
