I stood alone in the desolate night, my senses on high alert as I felt the presence of multiple people surrounding me. My anxiety still lingered from the previous encounters, and I clenched my fists, ready to fight again if necessary.
"Who the hell is out there?" I screamed, my voice echoing through the darkness.
Gabriel emerged first, his figure illuminated by the faint moonlight. I felt a mix of emotions - relief, anger, and confusion. I didn't know whether to punch him or hug him, so I yelled instead.
"Gabriel, where were you?! You said we would face Belzebub together. But you weren't there when he struck. You weren't there when he almost made me kill my best friend. You weren't there when I...I..." I broke down, falling to my knees as tears streamed down my face. I forced myself to continue, "You weren't there when I lost Chris."
Uriel appeared from the shadows, his voice harsh as he cut in, "Don't you dare blame Gabriel for this. You chose to make a deal with that Devil and thought keeping it a secret was a good idea."
Gabriel placed a hand on Uriel's shoulder, silencing him. "Uriel, please. He's already been through a lot." Then, he knelt down beside me and said, "Listen to me, Danny. I promise we will find Belzebub and bring Chris back safely."
I remained unconvinced, recalling how Belzebub's brother, Asmo, had frozen Uriel with just a word. And the countless demons Belzebub had backing him. I asked, "So you're going to save Chris. Well, you and what army?"
From the shadows emerged a group of glorious-looking men and women wearing white, their appearance reminiscent of ancient biblical legends. Gabriel rose to his feet and introduced them. "Danny, meet my backup - the Transcendants, God's most blessed soldiers."
The darkness trembled, a shimmering light illuminated the shadows, as thedivine warriors emerged. Their presence was like a whisper of heaven, their glory so radiant it seemed to shake the foundations of the earth. They wore white robes, untainted by the stains of the world, their faces aglow with an otherworldly light.
Gabriel stood tall, his eyes shining with a fierce pride, as he introduced them. "Danny, behold my army - the Transcendants. They were forged in the depths of heaven to wield the power of the divine!"
Among them, Deborah shone like a star, her beauty so captivating it seemed to rival the sun. Her hair was like golden threads, woven with the finest gold, her eyes like the gates of paradise, shining with a light that seemed almost too pure for mortal eyes to behold.
Her skin was like alabaster, smooth and unblemished, her features chiseled by the hand of God himself. She approached me with grace, her voice like music, saying, "Gabriel has told us a lot about you, Danny."
The Transcendants stood behind her, their faces set with determination, their eyes burning with a fire that seemed to pierce the soul. They were the embodiment of God's wrath, the instruments of his justice, and the guardians of his people.
As Gabriel and Uriel began to walk away, I realized I was being left behind. "Where are you guys going without me?" I screamed.
Uriel turned, his expression stern. "Do you want Chris back or not? We're going to hunt down Belzebub and burn down every safe haven he's ever called home."
Gabriel added, "Danny, you can't follow us."
"Why?" I demanded.
Uriel's response was harsh. "Because you have demon blood rushing through your veins. Whether you like it or not, you can easily be manipulated by Belzebub. How exactly did you say you got free from his deal again? Devils never do things out of the goodness of their hearts."
Gabriel intervened, his tone softer. "It's true your blood has been corrupted, but that's why you need to go with the Transcendants. They will help cleanse you so that when we get Chris back, you and he can finally be safe. We also need to be certain that Belzebub really set you free."
I sighed, hesitant to trust these strangers. "Why would I agree to follow you for some so-called cleansing?"
Deborah offered a sign of goodwill. "We've cleared Delilah, your former caretaker, off Death's list. She's free to walk the Earth again."
My phone rang, and I answered to hear Delilah's worried voice. Assuring her I was okay felt like therapy for my worn-out heart. I hung up when she asked about Chris.
I looked at the Transcendants and declared, "Okay, I'll follow you."
I locked eyes with Gabriel. "Gabriel, remember what you promised me. Bring Chris home, no matter what."
He nodded before he and Uriel vanished into the darkness. I followed the Transcendants, unsure of where they were taking me.
As I glanced back at my mansion, I knew I had nothing left to return to.I gazed at the mansion, feeling nothing but a sense of desolate emptiness washing over me. I had lost everything that ever mattered to me.
My dad, my mom, Jenkins - the sweet butler who had been like a father to me - all gone. And now, even Mrs. Delilah, the woman who had cared for me, had been revealed to be a demon. The memories I had of her were now tainted with bitterness and pain.
But the most agonizing thought was of Chris, my dear friend, whose body was now a vessel for the monstrous Belzebub. I clenched my fists in impotent rage, imagining the horrors he must be enduring. The thought of it was suffocating me, crushing my heart.
I felt utterly helpless, a pawn in a game of cosmic forces beyond my control. I couldn't bring back the dead, couldn't save Chris, couldn't even save myself. All I could do was wait, helpless and hopeless, for the unknown to unfold.
The darkness closing in around me seemed to mock me, a constant reminder of my powerlessness. I was trapped in a living nightmare, with no escape from the shadows that haunted me. My future was a void, a chasm of uncertainty that seemed to swallow me whole.
In that moment, I felt like I was drowning in a sea of despair, with no lifeline to cling to. The only thing that kept me going was the faint glimmer of hope that Gabriel and the Transcendants had offered. But even that seemed like a fragile thread, ready to snap at any moment, leaving me plummeting into the abyss. All I could do was wait for what would happen next.
