Chapter 40: Rise and Fall

Kevin was left alone.

He was alone once again.

"You really have a habit of secluding yourself, aren't you?" he can hear Mia talking to him.

Since he started climbing up to the where he was, he started losing people around him, he would always end up being alone so he accepted the fact that he is destined to be by himself.

Until that faithful day he saw a bunch of teenagers playing at his favorite restobar.

It was an open mic event that night, for him it was also a great opportunity to scout some fresh talents.

"Am I gonna get luck tonight?" then he rolled a dice, it has been his ritual before scouting talents, getting a six would mean that he will struck gold.

The moment the dice fell on six is also the moment that the only girl in the band sang.

It was like a magical moment for him, there she was singing on the stage, he was mesmerized by her beautiful voice.

His heart had started to beat like crazy when their eyes have locked and she smiled at him, it was a first for him, someone smiling so sweetly at him.

Right there and then he decided that he will make sure to sign this band, whatever it takes.

He was more decided to sign them up as the night progress, the whole time that he was there, they also sang different genres of songs and exchanged position, what strike him the most is that all of them can sing and their harmony is better than anyone else. If you ask him they could debut right now without any training necessary.

They are that good.

Kevin walked up to the bartender to ask if they are regular performers at this place

"Nah, they are just friends with the owner so whenever they are here, they play, just for fun" then the bartender continued.

He was then convince that the world needed to know and hear their music. It wasn't every day that he will come across with such talents.

As soon as they get off the stage, Kevin then approached the group who just finished performing.

"Hi I am Kevin Grant of Viewbay Entertainment" then he offered his hand for a handshake to them,

At first they hesitated to talk to him, he understand them, there are a lot of people who uses the entertainment companies to con others but he can convince them that he is not.

"Can I know your names?" then he faced towards them one by one and they started introducing themselves.

"Faux Howard" said a guy with man bun

"Ian Thomas" he was wearing a plain black ball cap.

"Max Reese" a man who have a curly black hair that looks like a dog offered his hand for a handshake.

"I am Mia Lee" said the girl with an angelic face, "he's Terrence Javier, he's not that friendly but he's nice" she points out to the man behind him that have a regular haircut but with two studs in his right ear. One was black and the other one is silver in color, he also noticed that Mia was also wearing the same stud on her left ear.

"Do you guys want to perform on a bigger stage?" a hesitation can be seen on their faces, "It will be much more fun than performing here, you already got what it takes to debut" He doesn't want to lose this group, they are that good.

Kevin can already see it. Their debut will slingshot his company to the top.

"Do you have a name for your band? Or you guys are just casually playing?" He knows that they might think that he was being forceful but he will not stop at anything just to sign them.

"Luna" this time it was the guy behind Mia who spoke, Terrence was his name if he was not mistaken.

"Luna… That sound good" he then became more enthusiastic in recruiting them but he will give them time to think "Alright, I won't force you now but I will be back and I hope to have an answer by then" he then gave his calling card to Mia. "Call me if you ever change your mind"

"Then can you make my dreams come true?" Mia asked Kevin, she had a dream that she wants since.

"Just name it" then that's the start of their ill-fated relationship.

He then left Ysa's office and went straight home, he then opened his house and was greeted by the darkness of his house.

"I'm home" then he opened the light and saw the emptiness of it.

It was a very luxurious house that emits his status and money, but it was way different when he saw the current accommodation of the guys, he can feel the warmth something that he only felt when he is with Mia before.

He can still clearly remember when they started fulfilling her dreams one by one, the smile on Mia's face was priceless and will forever be engraved to his heart.

He just wish to see it again and be with him forever, then he started remembering the moments where Mia would always find him being alone and would drag him to where the people are, she closed the gap that he have with his employees and taught him to socialize.

Those were his happiest moments until the day he lost his mind.

Kevin grabbed a beer from his fridge, even his refrigerator shouts loneliness, all you can see is cold water and beer and some left over sitting there God know when.

After opening a can he then looked at the city lights in his window.

"I don't know what to do anymore" he don't want to stop, he badly wants to have Mia beside him but after the talk with his brother he started thinking what will be the best decision he can do but his desire are much more stronger than his will to listen to others.

A phone call then interrupted his thoughts

It was Mia calling him.
