Chapter 25: Great Records

After receiving Ysa's message, Mia went straight to Constellation where she saw Ysa still thinking in her office.

"Ysa, are okay? Did they hurt you or tried to threaten you?"

She is really concern, it was scary what they did to her before just to bring down this place.

"Nah, I'm all good, it's just that I didn't expect them to move this early" She can see the concern in Ysa's eyes. She was indeed shocked when she received Ysa's message this afternoon that the old man tried to close a deal with her this morning.

"I'm sorry you have to go through this Ysa. If your father figured out that we're dealing with someone powerful he will kill me for dragging you into this mess" Mia is panicking right now.

Ysa can see how Mia is panicking right now in front of her, which is very unusual of her, 'they really instilled trauma into your system'. It wasn't evident after they stripped her off of everything that was dear to her 4 years ago but now that they are repeating their actions, she can see fear and hesitations.

"Mia, listen to me, nobody is going to take what's yours again. We build this place again and now it won't fall again." Ysa looked at Mia straight into her eyes, she gave her assurance that they will never give up Constellation again.

Great Records have been the biggest recording company that been the foundation of the industry for 70 years. They have the monopoly with regards of releasing albums for artists.

For the longest time they have never encountered a problem with recruiting talented producers and composers to work for them.

Great Records have been the dream of many but not for Mia.

Mia was offered a big contract when Great Records figured out that by then newly debut Luna have her as their producer, they are the very first idol group to be a self-producing.

The problem started when Mia declined their offer and built Constellation, it was actually part of Luna's contract to Viewbay.

After building Constellation, Mia have started accepting young talented producers like her and nurtured them more, the environment in Constellation is open and relaxing, Engineers and Producers co-exist just fine and they get to pick their projects without the burden from the executives which gave them so much freedom which led them to flourish more making Constellation a go to place to be a music producer.

Constellation without an intent to be on Great Records bad side, indeed became a big obstacle to it. That's when Sir Francis Jones, one of the founding members of Great Records approached Kevin Grant of Viewbay.

Kevin was then having problems regarding their financial records, Viewbay's financial records are showing a big loss and discrepancy that if he can't return the money that was lost, they will have to file for bankruptcy. He only have one solution, Mia's royalties.

The idea came to Kevin when he overheard Luna talking in their cafeteria, they guys have been teasing Mia that she' going to be rich in no time because of her royalties that she's been using to run Constellation.

He wanted to talk to Mia formally to ask for her help but when he returned to his office, Sir Francis Jones of Great Records is waiting for him.

"I have a proposition with you, we know that your company is currently on the red line, we are willing to help you and even double your loss. Think of it as an investment from us". For Kevin it was already a big deal and he can't just ignore this investment, he needs it but he is also aware of the consequences.

"In what condition?" by then Sir Francis's face have lit up, he knows that this young man in front of him are interested to his proposal, now he just have to give him what he wants and double it.

"We want Mia Lee and the Constellation to be dropped from Viewbay. We'll pay for the contract termination and all of the dues that your company needs to pay, we will also sign an exclusive contract with your company as a compensation to the loss of Constellation and Great Records will be handling all of your artist. We will technically pay all of your company's debt"

"Can you give time to think about it?" Mia is also dear to Kevin, he cannot make this decision right now, and he needs to think about it more than ever,

"I'm going to give you three days to think about this, I know you Kevin, how you started this company and what you have invested in this. Don't let a girl hinder you from being on the top, you're almost there, and I suggest that you sign with us" Sir Francis then offered Kevin a handshake and bid his farewell. He is confident that Kevin Grant will go with their wishes, he just need another assurance that Mia Lee will be gone in their path.

"Kevin I have already told you that taking Mia again back to the limelight will cause us trouble" Kevin is now in his office with Sir Francis after their talk with Ysabelle Howard, who's apparently the current owner of Constellation.

"Constellation have been hiding right in front of you and you can't even see it. Once they go public with that album with Luna, I am telling you that the higher ups won't just be sitting on their sits, Secure Luna's contract now and cancel the album"

Kevin isn't having this bullshit again, after his talk with his little brother he realized that he have been a money loving jerk by selling off his artist to Great Records. It wasn't Mia's fault that they have been declined by a lot of companies and chose Constellation as their go to music production house.

"I'm afraid I cannot do this anymore Sir Francis, I need to cut off my relationship with Great Records"

He then stood up and offered a handshake to Sir Francis, it was really a bad idea to make a deal with them, but what's done is done, he knows that this will make a great impact to Viewbay and could lead them to bankruptcy. He has to face the consequences of his actions.

After making Sir Francis leave his office, Argon then showed up in front of him and suddenly hugged him.

"I'm so proud of you brother" he too was happy with his decision. Finally a great weight on his chest was lifted. He just have to start making things right.
