She turned her head to her mate, and he tried to avoid her heated glare. I let her go glaring at her, "if you touch my sister again, I will rip your throat out, understood." I bared my teeth showing her I was not making a threat but a promise.
Then suddenly I smelled coffee mixed with cinnamon wrap itself around me, making me feel funny. My wolf was loving the smell. "What the hell is going on?" I heard a deep rustic voice from behind me that sent chills to my core. When I turned, I saw a tall man. Around 6'3'', he seemed muscular and tatted. He was tan wearing blue jeans and a white tee that clung to his arms. When I took my gaze up farther seeing his short tussled blondish hair and then landing on his bright hazel eyes my wolf was stirring deep within me. 'Mate, Anastasia, it is our mate.' I swallowed the word down deep; he noticed as well but also said nothing. "Darla, what is going on?" I heard the authority in his voice and the power pouring off him in waves it hit me like a ton of bricks. My mate is an Alpha.
The woman I had the altercation with named Darla began explaining what was going on. I was getting angry; this was not his territory it was no Alphas. He ignored me like he did not realize what I had.
"Excuse me, this is neutral territory, not yours." We had gathered the bar as an audience. "So?" he said raising a brow at me. "So, I do not answer to you. If you want to talk to your pack about their actions then do it elsewhere. This is my bar and you will not come in here and think you are the almighty." He growled at my defiance.
No Alpha liked being disrespected on or off their territory. I could tell he was fighting with his wolf while mine had my back. She took his silence very disrespectfully. My wolf is all about the mate bond but will not roll over for anyone.
"Well, that is hard to do when someone outside my pack has put their hands on my sister." I did not falter my stone face but started to regret it when he was protecting his sister as I was mine. But still, he could lose the cocky attitude.
"Well, still, not your territory, actually you are in mine. Your brother-in-law was flirting with my sister, so she flirted back. He has no mark and was alone. I get that her wolf was protective but like I told her take it out on the one who did it knowing he had a mate."
Lucy was getting nervous, and I understood why. "Lucy, go upstairs. I will see you in a minute." She eyed me but nodded her head in response. I knew the Alpha's authoritative tone was too much for her.
"Well, isn't your sister smart enough to smell her scent on him." Now he was beginning to piss me off. "Who are you to downgrade my sister." My growl was loud and not hidden.
"If you have not realized genius we are in a bar, several men and women dancing. I saw him dancing with three separate women none were your sister. Yet, you expect my sister to distinguish her scent from all the females he has had his hands on." I had enough and my wolf was at the front of my mind ready to lash on anyone who threatened our sister.
Calvin and Layla were at my side trying to link me to calm down so Ember would not show herself in front of everyone. I tried taking deep breaths to reign her in. His smell was intoxicating but I knew he was disrespecting the one person who I would not let anyone disrespect.
"Everyone, Bar is closed for the night." I heard everyone groan and were upset. "Thank the lovely Alpha here. Now you to get out." I did not waste another second as I stomped my way up the stairs after my sister. Mate or not he can kiss my ass talking about my sister that way.
"Lucy, you in there?" I knocked on her door hearing her sniffle. I knew she heard his comment. "Lucy I am coming in." I opened her door to see her sitting by her bed with her knees to her chest. "Oh, sissy ray, what is wrong?" "Am I really that stupid?" I shook my head and got on the ground beside her. "No, Lucy look at me. You are not stupid, you are looking for someone to love you and to love back. That down there was the guy's fault and the girl realized it. Do not let their words get in your head. You are beautiful, kind, loving, sweet. Do not let them dull your flame. Shine brighter than them all." She laughed at my remarks. I have said these same words to her many times before.
I hugged her and we sat like that for quite a few moments. "You are badass big sister, you know that?" I huffed at her statement. "No one messes with my sister Alpha or not. I will kick their ass in a minute. Even if he is my mate."
I waited for the shriek she would let out. "Your Mate? Anastasia Dawn Blackwell! How dare you go all this time without telling me and then oh my goddess. You just yelled at your mate and oh my I need to sit back down." I laughed at her reaction, and she stared at me and she knew. She knew I will never roll over for anyone and my wolf was the same way.
Calvin and Layla made sure everyone left as I shut the bar down early. 'Anastasia, everyone is finally gone.' "Come on Lucy lets go help clean up and get us some food." She nodded taking my hand as we decided to join Layla and Calvin. Layla and Lucy went to the kitchen to fix us up some grub and clean in there as Calvin and I cleaned the bar area. "You really gave that Alpha a piece of your mind." I nodded not really wanting to talk about him.
"He was that last one to leave and the girl you grabbed, she basically had to drag him out of here. You must have gotten under his skin." I tried to ignore the Alpha talk. "Anastasia Dawn, how dare you, how could you not tell me." oh great this was going to be lovely. "What the fuck did you do to piss her off?" Calvin said wide eyed knowing his mate's temper.
Layla came charging out of the kitchen and I knew she was upset. "Oh, come on Lay, it has not even been an hour and I have not even had time to deal, think, anything about this." Calvin just kept looking back and forth between our altercation.
"Still Stas, you could have told me, and I would of laid him out for you." "I know Lay, still chill out I was going to tell you both while we ate." She physically relaxed seeing how she jumped the gun. "What are you two talking about, or who, or I am so confused with you women." Calvin looked as if his head was going to bust. "Oh, that is right you do not know babe. That Alpha that Anastasia was yelling at is her good ole mate."
A loud gasp was heard, and we snapped our heads to the source. "You are my brothers' mate." Great this is going to be fun.
"We are closed!" I shouted trying to avoid everything right now. "I just came back to apologize to all of you and hold up no switching the subject." Damn this girl was good. "So, are you?" I just raised my brow at her.
"My brother's mate?" She finished her question. I just sighed knowing there was no way around it, "Yup." I said as I let the p go with a loud pop and started eating my chicken wings.
"Now I see why he was so riled up when I tried to get him to leave." This ignoring people thing was not working. I rolled my eyes as I went to go to the bar away from the gawking and questions. "Sorry, I did not mean to overstep. I actually had a different question for you guys before I was stuck on the brother and you being mate thing." "What did you need?" Lucy asks so quick to forget the past. She has a big heart.
"Well, I was wondering if I could possibly help out around here?" Lucy was quick to answer knowing how I am. "Of course, but may I ask why?" she nodded, and you could see the sadness in her eyes. "I need a little bit of space from my mate. He does not physically harm me but this messing around is on my last nerve. He is the Beta of our pack which is only a few miles from here.
So, during the day he is always busy but at night he expects me at home waiting for him like a needy wolf." I smiled knowing she was more like me than I thought so I decided to interject. "So, what does working here do for you besides cause problems in my bar when others flirt with you." She lowered head never thinking about that.
