Chapter 6: Mardock Sainz
(Klein)
Klein, now embodying the identity of Mardock Sainz, felt the remnants of unfamiliar memories merge with his consciousness, each fragment a window into a life he had never lived.
The realisation struck him: he was a bastard child, he was the offspring of something known as a 'Master' rank Awakened.
Something he would definitely have to do more research about.
A father he had never met, whose presence loomed like a shadow over his existence.
As he pondered his new predicament, Klein surveyed the world around him.
It was a stark departure from the enigmatic, supernatural chaos of the Beyonder world he once navigated.
Here, in this modern setting, the architecture rose sharply against the skyline, gleaming with the polished sheen of progress.
Yet there was an underlying familiarity, from when he used to be in China…in the past.
Power was held not by the 7 Churches or secret societies (Maybe they were and he was yet to find out about them), but by the 3 Great Legacy Clans—an aristocracy that wove its influence through the very fabric of society.
And, as it turned out, he was tethered to this hierarchy by blood; his father belonged to the House of Night.
'How convenient.' Klein couldn't help but lampoon.
But the connection felt more like a curse than a blessing.
Instead of seeking him out, this father had opted for silence, sending only funds to ensure his survival. It was a pragmatic arrangement, but something that made his own life much easier.
"Laying low is my specialty," he mused, a wry smile creeping onto his lips as he embraced the irony.
Klein has had multiple identities in the past, and he would have many more in the future.
After all, he is the one who 'Fooled The World.'
He approached the wardrobe belonging to Mardock, his brow furrowing at the sight before him.
'What is this…lack of taste! I almost forgot this is how people used to dress in the modern age.'
The clothing was bland, a stark contrast to the vibrant garb he had once adorned. Where was the flair? The elegance?
"This won't do," he muttered, shaking his head. "But when in Rome, do as the Romans do."
Klein sighed, reminding himself that he was a master of adaptation.
Klein stood before the mirror, the plain fabric of his modern attire—a simple button-up shirt and trousers—clinging to his body comfortably.
Klein had a slender frame, which had an angular face marked by shark cheekbones and a defined jaw.
He also had piercing blue eyes with dark hair that fell right around his brow.
Klein could tell from his memories that he was around 18 years old in this world.
All in all, he didn't look too shabby, even decent from his own perspective.
Klein then sensed his own spirituality and realised the abilities he had were also sealed behind the grey fog.
He would have to restart his path to power.
But that didn't really affect him that much, since it wasn't really something that seemed to be in his control.
The only decent thing was that he was not left completely defenceless. He started off as a 'Seer,' already, and Klein knew all the subsequent potion formulas.
The question was if he would be able to use them in this new world or not.
Maybe these things known as Nightmare creatures can be used as some sort of substitute…
Klein then walked 4 steps in a clockwise direction and made his way into the grey fog.
Sitting on the main seat of the 'Fool,' Klein took one of the only things he had with him from his old world out.
A pendulum.
"Nightmare creature parts can be used as a substitute for my future advancement in sequences."
Clockwise rotation…so that means that he wasn't cut off from his Beyonder pathways in this world.
He could still very well proceed in his path to higher sequences.
For now…what would be smart is to digest the Seer potion he was currently on, and know much more about this new world of his.
As Klein descended back into the real world, he decided to walk out of his apartment.
Right now he was inside what was known as SQSC- South Quadrant Seige capital, and he was in the Antarctica centre.
He was in Street 03, which was where the upper middle class of Antarctica resided at.
(Someone tell me the cost of Sunny's house last time, and I will rework the currency for how much Klein is paying. I want out Poor God to potentially remain poor :)))
He was currently paying 4,000 credits a week, and was given 1,000 credits for expenses.
He also had a maid that came in once every 3 days to take care of the house, and her expenses were already tended to.
Mardock Sainz was not really well known anywhere since he was an introvert, so Klein decided to stick closer to less crowded areas.
Afterall, right now he simply wanted to go out to get a meal and a breath of fresh air.
As he walked into the street and looked at the amazing architecture around him, Klein couldn't help but smile a little.
He did wish his friends were here to view this world as well…but he quickly shook his head.
This time, he knew when he regained his power as a Pillar, he would be able to return to his world.
But first, it was time to explore the cuisine of this world!
And you know…maybe learn a bit more about these Awakened.
