Shade on a Sunny Day

A man raised by traitors that still has strong convictions. A what do you do when you have a dangerous power and no power with those around you. There is blood, slavers, and other topics that might not be for everyone. This is a prequel book to another book I have written but never shared. Sorry if I skip over anything, it should stand alone though.

I let the memories of last night and maybe some of the morning wash over me as I laid under the two woman who had been going for much longer than I had pushed any of them before.

It seemed that if I wasn't in my own head, I could become a monster. Lucky for me it seemed Isa and Vera too like that monster. They had tortured and baited me to continue with each other as well as themselves. The bed was a mess, but the two women didn't seem bothered with it as they held each other in their sleep, and I held them. Isa was in the middle this time and I didn't mind at all. I was relieved that the three seemed to be not killing each other when I wasn't around. Last night gave me hope that it might be even better than I had hoped.

I was feeling the same hungover feeling that I had been getting when I overused my magic, but I was too happy to move from my nest yet even if it was almost noon. I tried not to feel Isa or Vera with my other sense as I laid there thinking about if I might be able to repeat last night before getting up.

It was doubtful, which was a shame. There was more than one thing I wanted to try while the two couldn't hide how they felt about it from me. I couldn't stop a sigh as I thought about how my magic had stopped working like a fire that ran out of fuel. It worried me a bit and was probably what caused me to wake before the two beauties in my bed. I could feel them now though.

My sigh got Vera to look up at me from where she was curled against Isa. She had not been awake before, but she was sensitive to people around her. Sleeping too soundly in the street could be deadly even for a woman after all. "Good morning -"

I slipped my hand over Vera's mouth before she could say sir. Isa was a heavy sleeper, so I was not worried about Vera's voice waking her. "Call me, Mir, at least in bed, please."

I moved my hand to caress the side of her face and neck before settling on her chest to play with her exposed parts. I felt her breath hitch as I rubbed her. She didn't pull away, but she was watching Isa and not me that moment.

Vera bit her bottom lip; I could feel her spiking emotions that couldn't seem to pick what to feel as she tried to come to a decision about something. She took long enough that I felt Isa wake, but Isa stayed still under my arm. She wasn't all the way awake, and she was listening to something.

Vera let her bottom lip go as she made up her mind. "Sorry, sir. I cannot do that. You are not mine."

I frowned and slowed what I was doing but didn't stop. "Did you not call your brothers by their names?"

"My brothers were mine, sir."

"Depends on how you look at it, but if you see it that way, it is fine. So do you call Isa and Bella by their names."

"I try not to."

"Harder when there is more than one person with the same from of address, hum?" I didn't wait for an answer since Isa was awake now too. "It will be even worse once my wives pick out two more slaves. Though they are taking long enough that maybe I will have to pick one for them?"

Isa rolled over to look at me. "Does that mean you have one you would like us to pick?"

"You won't like it."

"Well, you are the mind reader, but I won't know that until you tell me."

"91"

"..."

"I did say-"

Isa cut me off, "Why? Does it have to do with the dirt you brought home?"

"Now who is the mind reader? That dirt is her eldest son, and they are still close." I felt Isa pause as the events tied to 91 went through her mind. "I am not forgiving her; I am not asking you to understand or forgive her either. I am just sure I can use them. If you and Bella say no then it is no. I will find something else, either way I am done punishing her like I have been. There are other things she can be used for."

Isa wrapped her arm around me to pull herself closer. After she was satisfied that she was close enough her hand snaked back to start doing to me what I had absentmindedly been doing to Vera, "That is cute, but we both know if I asked you would give me her whole self on a silver platter for me. You haven't recovered from that blow any more than I have your protective nature just won't let you. So why is the other reason you want to include that viper."

She must still be very angry to call a number by a name like being a number isn't degrading enough. "There isn't likely to be a blurring of lines within my little subset family with her. Even if you forgive her she will still be the less of all the women that might share my time."

Vera froze as I talked about blurred lines. I could see her memories of it starting from when I blocked the collar. That collar that I knew most of the other slaves had considered dying to be rid of the collar. The collar prevented that activity but where there is a will there's a way. I had warned my brothers in a few cases, but the male slaves were coping and the women probably wouldn't be too far behind.

Isa nodded, "You would prefer two more like Vera, but you think Bella and I wouldn't prefer that?"
