Researching the Visions

Lin ran his hands through Bow's pocket and pulled out an orb-like object. The object was black and was the size of a small bead. Lin's eyes widened as he saw the black item. "Scopenet?" he exclaimed. "Who would have thought this is where I would find one of all places? Let's see if I will find anything else" He put it away and quickly rummaged through Bow's pocket to see if he could find anything useful. Apart from the Scopenet, he only found a space storage cube. Looking back at the corpse, he sighed and set it ablaze.

"Come to think of it, I would have been in trouble if he had been good at close quarters. I need to learn more skills and techniques; if I want to survive out here."

Lin continued searching for beasts, and after searching for a long time, a familiar message popped up in his mind.

Lin was overjoyed; he had finally found a beast after walking for so long. He didn't mind if it was not related to his element. Above the forest, a large bird circled a tree, seemingly hunting for prey. The bird had a sharp curved brown beak that was distinctive from its yellow body.

It had extremely sharp eyesight as it noticed a tiny black figure break through the trees and head its way. With a flap of its enormous wings, the leaves on the tree it circled fell like heavy rain.

Unlike other birds that would have flown away seeing a terrifying enemy come for them like so, terror raptors were different. They fight to the death with whoever attacks, whether strong or weak. Terror raptors tend to self-destruct to take their enemies with them if they fail to kill them.

The terror raptor shot towards Lin at lightning speed and opened its beak to release an ear-piercing cry that sent tangible sonic waves towards Lin. In an instant, Lin disappeared from where he was and appeared behind the terror raptor with black lightning crackling madly about him. "That arrow guy had some interesting skills; maybe I can make a new technique based on his skill, like that web thingy".

"Terror Raptor, be proud to witness the birth of my new technique" Lin announced as he formed a spear out of lightning and threw it at the terror raptor. Before the raptor could react, the lightning broke into several streams and barred its way, preventing it from evading. Like a fly in a web, it couldn't escape. Lightning struck it from various angles. That was the new technique Lin came up with, using Bow's skills as a reference. <Lightning spear technique: Lightning Web>

The terror raptor emitted an ear-piercing cry of pain and prepared to self-destruct as it immediately realised it couldn't defeat its opponent. However, before it could do so, a black flame orb the size of a football struck it, burning it fiercely and leaving behind severe burn wounds. Another lightning spear struck it, killing it instantly.

Lin shot towards it and grabbed it by its legs, but unable to sustain himself in the air due to his poor flight ability, the bird's weight dragged him down. He let go of it as he neared the ground allowing the bird to drop with a thud, sending dust and earth around. "I wonder if the behaviour of beasts here is the same as that of Terasphere. If it is, finding beasts would be much easier since I'm a scout anyway."

He sighed and pulled out his spear. He cut open the beast and took out its core. "I should find someplace to examine the items I got from that guy". He looked at the beast with disappointment "I could have sold this if I was back at Terasphere, but over here, even if I could sell it, I couldn't do so without exposing my identity."

He found an enormous tree after walking for half an hour where he sat and brought out his gains for inspection. He removed the space storage cube and checked its content using his elemental sense.

After looking through the contents, most of the items inside were useless to him. There were few cooking utensils and beast cores. He threw out the unnecessary stuff and burned them.

"Apart from the gold coins, everything this guy has is utterly useless. All the beast cores are low rank too. If only I had a way of selling these beast cores, I could make an awesome amount of money. Well, forget it." He shrugged and took out the black orb. It was smooth and could be mistaken for a strange pebble if one did not know what it was.

He tapped it twice. The Scopenet vibrated and suspended in the air as holographic images appeared around Lin. Looking through the various images, he saw one that looked very familiar. It was an image of him running. "So, this is how he found out about me. That means others are looking for me too. Good thing they don't know about my whereabouts".

Lin went through Bow's history and found a message he had sent to an anonymous person. The message was just two words long, "Found him" and it was delivered about four hours ago. "Damn it. I spoke too soon. Looks like more people are going to be on my tail soon; I should prepare for them", Lin said and cleared all data from Bow's Scopenet.

"Now, to search more about those visions", Lin said. He drew a symbol in the holographic interface. It was a symbol with three red diamond-looking objects arranged like a cross, with the lower part of the cross-looking symbol being a flame that resembled a spear. He selected search and awaited the result. After a few seconds, he received feedback but not one that pleased him. 'No result found' it said.

"No result found?? It surely couldn't be something that even the nucleus wouldn't know about. If the light doesn't know, maybe the dark would. Let me try asking others on the dark side of the nucleus", he typed in various characters and after a while, a forum opened. He put in the symbol with the caption, "Anyone got an idea what symbol this is?" After getting no response, he put away the Scopenet. "Since this is a forum, it might take a while for someone to notice it. Best get back to hunting then", he said and left to continue his hunt.

Somewhere in a territory, a woman clad in a white robe stood at the apex of a building over a hundred meters high. On the ground below were others similarly dressed as her. She wore a mask, allowing her long shiny gold hair to fly around in the wind with a sickle sword strung across her back.

A Scopenet suspended before her as she stared at a symbol in a forum she had joined. The symbol was none other than the one Lin searched for. "Hmph! I haven't seen anyone bold enough to dig into this past in a long time. Whatever happened to the last person who did? I wonder." She said in a somewhat enchanting yet mysterious voice.

She typed in some characters, and a location address along with images of Lin appeared before her. "Hoh!?" her eyes widened in surprise. "You managed to crossover. Interesting", she said and dropped off the roof, disappearing in a white mist.
