Prologue: Genuinity

"Just when will he resign? It's already mate in 14" murmurs a 19-year-old boy whose head is staring at his cellphone with a blank expression. He sighs at the desperate random opponent he got online.

(It seems he's stalling for time, although I only have 30 seconds left that's more than enough for me.)

Many thoughts run through his head seeing his victory is already secured he makes various pre-moves as he looks out at the window of the car, just another day passing without any sense of purpose.

He already has a lot of things he thinks the majority of people desire, such as good looks, money, a beautiful smart elder sister, fame, and above all a lovely fiance.

Kasumigaoka Kazuki was always an observant person who have a considerable amount of sympathy but with little or no empathy for people, whether they were family, friends, or random strangers. As a child, he was also like that.

He did a lot of things in his life in order to pursue happiness but despite all the success, there's always an empty void in his mind that he can't explain.

(Yeah, I'm still nothing but an empty shell up until now and maybe for all eternity)

He rests his head at the window watching the raindrops closely with his pretty scarlet red eyes full of melancholy.

"Kazuki-sama, is there anything you want to take out before going home," his chauffeur asks.

"hmm...let's drop off in a convenience store nearby I'mma get some cookies n cream ice cream"

The chauffeur smiles at his response who somehow seemingly understands the boy. A peaceful silence ensues until a loud crash was heard as debris of glass spatters at the two people after getting hit by a huge truck driving at a high speed.

"Huh?" He's shocked by the sudden incident that happened as he approaches death's door with blood spilling out of his head, feeling weak he tries to get up but to no avail, he can't do it as his body contradicts his thoughts.

Accepting everything he waits patiently for someone to come, trying to hold on while feeling all numb as time passes putting his mind into a state of stillness.

(Am I hallucinating? nah maybe that's just my subconscious, that sound like the Voice of the world from Tensura when Rimuru is about to die, yeah no isekai imaginations please! now is not the time but this feels way too long I'll have to recall some math formulas, and then imaginary sudoku to pass the time I don't know if I'm already fated to die but I must hold my consciousness)

Fighting for his life on the line he inhales and exhales deeply and tries to move his arm to cover his wounds in order not to spill more blood but alas it was futile and he ended up stretching his wounds further.

Just before his consciousness fades, flashes of memories went through his head from his early years until now, one person, in particular, shines brightly amongst all others recalling vividly all of the memories from their first meeting, her energetic smile, hangouts, their first kiss followed by her warm embrace, and finally her confession in which he hadn't fully understood back then.

"This feeling... it's genuine" A weak laugh escapes through his mouth as tears flow down from his eyes mixing with the blood on his face finally feeling the same way she feels.

"I love you too, Haruhi-chan" he expressed without any lies, emptiness, or deceptions by the time he realizes this he was also full of regrets.

He fully closes his eyes embracing all the feelings of love, happiness, sadness, regret, and fulfillment as his life passes with a smile on his face.
