Chapter 5: 'Sue the Hospital"

Teresa, who was quiet, wanted to laugh out loud. It seems Steve and Selom were getting along very well. But that question was so funny, it was said that only a woman knew who the father of her child was, but it was such a pain that her daughter didn't know who the father of her child was. Her daughter was so confused that it affected her as well.

"Ma'am if you want to sue the hospital, you are free too. It's part of your Rights" Steve said frankly, he felt this was the right thing to do, if she really wanted answers.

"Thinking about it deeply, I couldn't afford to sue the hospital. If I did then I would be getting my mother into trouble as well. She is also a doctor at this same hospital. She's an ophthalmologist, I would be putting her Job at risk. Looking at my mother, I decided I wouldn't take things further. But what was I going to do with the baby in my stomach? How would I manage the whole process? I don't even know who the father of the child is, I am pregnant for a stranger, so I don't even know. I cared less about the society, I didn't give a hoot about what the society would say. I had planned all this in my mind. When there's a plan A there's always another plan to back it up just in case plan A doesn't work." Selom said in her thoughts, she was trying to find her way out.

 She could take her child and travel out of the country to another place, there she could raise her child. But wasn't life playing a trick on her? She had kept her virginity for years, hoping that she would only be defiled by her husband but what was happening?

 She became pregnant without having to lose her virginity. She was already 24 yrs old anyways, her mates were already mothers, she had a well to do Job and earned much more than most business men. She had learnt to be an Independent lady, developing prestige and fame for herself all by her hard work. She had class and was also one of the women who saw light in others and sponsored them. Abortion to her was never an option. She had thrived hard building up an image for herself in the society, so raising a child wouldn't be difficult at all. 

"Honey, what are you thinking of?" Teresa said looking at her daughter who was Lost in thought. They had tried communicating with her, but she wasn't responding. It seems she really had a lot to think about. 

"Honey… Honey" she said, tapping her gently. Looking at her daughter, she could tell that she had a plan up her sleeves. Selom became extremely silent and whenever she was silent, she had set her mind on something.

Feeling her mother's touch, she came back to her senses. She looked at her mother and then at Steve.
