Chapter 36

Teresa had discussed the plan involving dinner with the president to Selom. Surprisingly, her daughter agreed to it. She had given her daughter countless lectures about how she was to take care of herself before going to the hospital. She had also brought the idea of moving in with her daughter but Selom declined her idea.

"You just want to make things very difficult for me," Selom said with a frown. This was one of the arguments that exist between mother and daughter.

"How would I make things difficult for you, darling? You are the one making things very difficult for me. You're already a grown up woman but I have to worry myself to death for you" She said following behind her. Selom was walking away from her mother because she wanted to avoid any means of argument.

"I just made you a promise, you can't move in here with me. I could always find my way home if I need your help" she said

"But home is a mile away" she complained, she didn't understand why her daughter wasn't seeing reasons with her.

(Laughing) " Mom, you just want to be adamant. I won't agree to your request, you won't move in. Anyways I am planning to leave the country as soon as possible so you moving in would be a waste. Whereas you don't have a reasonable point, the hospital is miles away from my place. Just go home, I could drive myself home if I really need something that I promise" Selom said heading to the bathroom, she was still in her pajamas and needed a good bath. But she could feel her mom walking behind her "Mom, do you also want to give me a bath?" She asked, sounding so helpless.

Teresa didn't even notice this, all she cared about was talking to her daughter so she could agree to her terms, she didn't know that she was following her to the bathroom. (Smiling) " I could give you a good bath if you want. I am still your mother you know? And you're still my child" She said boldly. Looking at the embarrassed look on Selom's face, she wanted to laugh out loud but she held herself and kept an indifferent face. "You don't have to be embarrassed, I gave birth to you and I bathed you then so there's no difference" she said with confidence.

"Mom!" She said sounding displeased

(Laughing) "Okay, I would leave since you need your privacy" she said, stepping backwards with a defeated look. She didn't want to continue teasing her daughter.

Both mother and daughter were having a nice time. Selom could see through her mother, so she knew what she was up to. "I would let you stay here till Dad gets back from his trip," she said, giving her mother a side glance.

(Smiling) "You are really my daughter, you are so nice and caring. I am so lucky to have your darling" she said, giving her a hug.
