"This is the Pokémon you got? It's so cute," said Anko, noticing Naruto holding Vulpix. She was a bit surprised but still smiled and asked.
Naruto's status as the Nine-Tails Jinchuriki was widely known, thanks to the rumors and fear of the fox demon. Most of the villagers in Konoha knew about it but didn't truly understand the situation, thinking Naruto was the fox demon himself.
However, both Anko and Kurenai were experienced ninja, with Anko being a Special Jonin and Kurenai a Jonin. They understood the truth—that Naruto was the Jinchuriki, the container for the Nine-Tails, and didn't hold him responsible for the Nine-Tails' attack on the village. Unlike most villagers, the ninjas were more rational in their treatment of Naruto.
"That's right, I got Vulpix, and it's really powerful," Naruto said happily, holding Vulpix with pride.
"It's not just powerful; it's beautiful," Kurenai chimed in with a nod of approval.
Kurenai, being Anko's close friend and slightly older, had a more calm demeanor. She had known Fuji since their days at the ninja academy. While Anko was bold and energetic, Kurenai was more composed. Her deep red eyes, like bright rubies, looked at Vulpix with curiosity. Kurenai's long black hair framed her delicate face, and she maintained a polite smile.
Is this one of the Pokémon Anko had mentioned before? Though it's different from Anko's Snivy, it's just as adorable.
"This Pokémon is called Vulpix, right? If I'm not mistaken, it must be a Fire-type Pokémon, right?" Anko asked, intrigued as she aimed the Pokédex at Vulpix.
"Drip—Vulpix, Fire Type, Fox Pokémon
Characteristics: Flash Fire (When attacked by Fire-type moves, absorbs the flames and strengthens its own Fire-type moves.)
Moves: Ember, Tail Whip, Confuse Ray, Will-O-Wisp
Vulpix, a Fire-type Fox Pokémon. Its six beautiful tails will increase in number when it evolves. Vulpix excels at Fire-type moves, with Flame Burst being a powerful attack that traps its opponent in flames and deals significant damage."
"So it's a Fire-type Pokémon, and this Flash Fire ability is amazing! Doesn't that mean Vulpix isn't afraid of fire at all?" Anko said, impressed as she read the information on the Pokédex.
Mu Bai had previously explained to them that the classification of Pokémon types wasn't exactly the same as the elemental affinities of ninjutsu in the ninja world, but there wasn't much difference when it came to flames.
A Pokémon with Flash Fire wouldn't be affected by fire-based attacks—it would only get stronger!
"Wow, sister, you also have a Pokédex! Did you get a Pokémon too?" Naruto asked, noticing the Pokédex in Anko's hand. He figured she must be one of Fuji's customers too.
"That's right! Look, here's my Snivy," Anko said, showing her Pokémon.
"Snivy, Snivy!" The Snivy perched on Anko's shoulder poked its head out and greeted Naruto energetically.
"So that's how this guidebook works," Kurenai observed, looking at the Pokédex in curiosity. "Let me see your Pokémon, too, sister."
Naruto, feeling welcomed by both Anko and Kurenai, was excited and eagerly picked up the Pokédex, pointing it at Snivy.
"Drip—Snivy, Grass Type, Grass Snake Pokémon
Characteristic: Contrary (Reverses stat changes; increases decrease and decreases increase.)
Moves: Tackle, Leer, Vine Whip, Leaf Tornado, Bind
Snivy, the Grass Snake Pokémon. Always calm and collected, it generates energy through photosynthesis with the leaves on its tail."
A mechanical voice from the Pokédex read out the information.
"That's amazing! Your Snivy is so strong," Naruto said, impressed despite not fully understanding what a Grass-type was.
"It looks like you've trained Snivy well. It's grown a lot since you got it and has even learned the new move, Bind," Fuji commented.
Many Pokémon automatically learn new moves as they grow. The Pokémon Fuji provided were all of high quality, with impressive talent and potential. In just a few days, Anko's Snivy had already learned a new move.
"Of course, I'm a great trainer!" Anko said proudly.
"Fuji, is that floating Pokémon also one of yours?" Kurenai asked, noticing the Pokémon floating near Fuji.
"Yep, that's Hoopa. Hoopa, say hi to everyone," Fuji replied, calling over the mischievous Pokémon.
"Hello everyone, I'm Hoopa. Hoopa's here, Hoopa's there!" Hoopa floated around energetically, greeting the group.
