The First Battle (2)

The moment his fist is about to hit me, I dodge to the left, going backwards. 

At the same time, I prepare a stone thorn behind me.

Shooting at him, the hooded man has no time to react and ends up being hit and falling to the ground.

I advance on him!

Using the little earth that exists in the partitions of the stone floor, I can create thin roots that hold the man to the ground!

"Where did you take the dog!?" I ask with the wand pointed at his face.

"I don't know anything, I swear!!" He says with his hands up.

With the hood down a little, I can see a man of around 20 years old, brown hair and blue eyes.

"Don't make me repeat myself..." I begin to form a stone spike on the tip of the wand, which begins to spin rapidly.

"I don't know anything, I'm just doing what I'm told!" The man says protecting his head.

"And who sent it!?" I increase the speed of the thorn.

"Yuri, Yuri! He's going to the Noah Kingdom to get to the Lightning Slit!" He says scared.

Noah Kingdom...

This is west of Legorio!

I leave the alley quickly.

As I leave, I come across William coming towards me with Richard behind him.

"They are taking Foguinho to the Kingdom of Noah, we have to go to the west gate!" I respond and go ahead.

"Where are you going?!" Says my father as William and I run.

"We'll explain it to you later!" I say.

"How did you find him?" I ask.

"I don't know, he was buying some fruit, and I saw him on the way. Then he started following me asking for explanations." William speaks. "I wanted to find you because I hadn't found anything." He adds as we run.

Now that I'm realizing it, my body is completely shaking.

That man... I had to threaten him to get some information; obviously, I wasn't going to kill him, but it was the first time I had to really fight.

If I had lost, maybe I would have...

No, better not think about that now. All this time, I've been training magic for this, haven't I?

I have to get used to my life being at risk...

If the guy we're going to face is strong, then it could really be the end of me...

I can't die like this, I was born again to experience everything I didn't experience in my last life, right?

Looking further out of the kingdom, beyond the gate, a carriage in the distance is speeding down the dirt path.

William passes me and is walking through the gate.

My body doesn't move. It's completely frozen.

The sight of the two bloodied bodies of the two guards stays in my mind. All I can see is me, like them, hurt.

"Hey brother, what are you doing!?" William stops running and looks at me. "I'm scared too, but I can't cower!" He completes.

"How do you know I'm scared?" My voice comes out shaky.

"It's written all over your face." William runs towards the wagon.

Damn, a kid has more courage than me...

You know what? Screw it.

If I am going to die, may I be reborn again.

"Let's get these suckers, William!" I run as quickly as possible out of the kingdom. "We need to catch them before they get too far!" I complement as William smiles and runs along with me.

"Relax."
