Chapter 6: The Black Oni

Having wrapped up the earlier situation, Max took the lead again walking towards a group of people sitting in the far corner of the room.

Seeing Gray walk away the thugs quickly grabbed their knocked out friend and left.

On the big sofa in the corner four people could be seen sitting there watching them approach with smiles on their faces.

The most conspicuous one was definitely the hulking mass of muscles which you could barely tell was female, on her lap is a very feminine dressed man slowly calibrating the towering womans cybernetic arm.

Next to them a bald average height man can be seen slowly browsing a virtual screen. And on the sofa to the left of them a slightly fierce teenage girl with a scar over her left eye lightly fiddling with a smg.

As they got closer Ray quickly introduced all of them: "That hulk is Grizzly but she prefers to he called Big Mama, she is the leader of our crew, in her lap is the Techie of our crew Joy, to their left is Stuart our netrunner and Catherine. She is a solo like me and Max."

Gray nodded lightly in greeting, introducing himself: "Gray, member of the Oni Corps, solo."

Big mama laughed loudly: "Hahahaha, you sure are quick on your feet little Gray, way better compared to these two punks." Sweeping her glance over Ray and Max.

"Hey, hey what do you mean by that! It's okay if you call me weaker then Gray but please don't lump me together with Ray." Max replied as if very aggrieved while sitting down next to Catherine.

Ray could only respond angrily shooting him a death stare: "HUH, you wanna fight Max?"

"Yeah, it's about time that I showed you the different in strength between us." Max said crossing his arms and showing an arrogant expression.

Looking at the two Clowns arguing Big mama burst out laughing again and Catherine only looked on in amusement.

Stuart and Joy completely ignored it though as if it was a normal everyday thing.

Sitting down and taking off the mask on his face Gray couldn't help but curiously inspect Stuart who hadn't raised his head from the screen for even a second since Gray saw him.

As if noticing Gray's gaze Stuart spoke out to Gray without raising his head: "I'm modifying some resource data for simpler use to help the others easily find data they need also to make some missions easier to preform."

Although Gray didn't understand, he could only expressionlessly nod as if understanding.

Looking at the people around him Gray couldn't help but realise that he was really unable to join in the discussions as he had literally only been here for a few hours barely knowing anything except a sparse amount from his previous life.

Summoning up the system panel Gray decided it was a good time for him to finish his Task.

Opening the inventory and selecting the Epic grade ticket, he quickly started the wheel, looking at the dozens of silver names fly by spotting a few golden names and even a glowing crimson name.

However Gray's luck seemed not so good today as he got nothing more than a Sliver avatar.

Checking out the new tasks Gray felt that one of them was possible to clear right away.

Connecting himself to the Avatar his vision suddenly split causing a very uncomfortable feeling, pushing the feeling to the back of his head he quickly took out the [Black Oni outfit] and [Odachi] equipping them to the avatar changing his appearance to a towering armor-clad man.

However thinking about it twice Gray felt that he might as well use his other avatar ticket too.

Using the Peak ticket a very expensive looking wheel appeared with golden engraved names.

The wheel to Gray's surprise stopped on a shimmering crimson name.

Looking at the data displayed for the avatar Zero, Gray could help but get shocked and a little worried quickly asking the system if he will develop cyberpsychosis by controlling this avatar.

Gray let out a relived sigh in his heart and choose to summon Zero next to Wolf, the name Gray had decided for the Black Oni avatar.

Feeling his vision split into three parts the previous feeling came back even more intense making Gray quickly disconnecting from the avatar, turning on [Conscious Mode] and informing them to come to his location.
