SCP: The Unforseen Variable (Old)

Murrey, finds himself in a new world made of laws he dosen’t understand. Find as he grows his organization creates a religion and tries to prepare for the end of everything. This book is being rebooted because I screwed up some plot points that I can’t fix aside from rewriting it all. So I’m doing a reboot. If you wanna get a sneak peek into what the reboots plot is gonna be later down the line I guess you can read this. I wouldn’t because it would make the pay offs less impactful, but you do you. Permission was given to me by Duy Giang to use his art for the cover go check him out. They’ve made some of the coolest and quality art related to SCP on a visual level and is one of the reasons I wanted to make this book

Slaughter

As I walked through the bloodstained, body ridden halls I tried something. Reaching towards a body I imagined the black sludge that I absorbed at Labyrinth's entrance. Then something appeared a white fragments with orange energy flowing around it. Deciding to drain it I found the orange energy fight back, but was shattered instantly before the white fragment was also drained.

(You have gained 0.00000000001% divinity)

After doing so the fragment looked empty before slowly increasing with a black liquid until it was pitch black sludge. As I held the fragment I absorbed it, and instead of my feeling more whole I was hit with the memorys of what I presumed was the souls life. It didn't even phase me however as I had already experienced suddenly gaining information of a far greater quantity. As I finished processing them I was greeted by.

(You have gained 0.00001% Divinity)

By my calculations to become god I would have to absorb one billion souls to get to 100% divinity. If I complete the (Deus Vult!) (Quest) I would have to absorb 990 million souls. As much as I would like to eliminate 22% of the world population I did not have to time to do so. As I continued my walk around I started developing a system as I walked I would take the souls and absorb them as I went along durther increasing the surface area of my skin that turned pitch black. A benefit that came from doing this was how it seemed tough not as tough as steal but it would stop a knife or pistol round.

By the time I had actually heard the sounds of battle I had absorbed over 30 souls. I checked the progress of my (Power Through Faith) (Quest) and deflated at the 0.16% competion rate. At least I only needed 5,000 instead of a billion. By the time I had reached the fight I picked up 10 more souls. As I walked through the doors all of the cultist and ethereal heads turned towards me before fighting with greater efficiency. I was confused for a second before realizing my gloves effects were kicking in. Walking to the Timekeeper who was observing I felt that their soul was thousand times stronger then the regular Church cultists in the halls.

As I was wondering if, or more likely when I shiuld absorb their soul the sytem chimed in.

(Inquiry Detected)

User may absorb companions souls. Due note however that doing so while possibly granting more abilitys does not allow the re summoning of the soul you absorbed.

Decising that if the Timekeeper did a horrible job I'd just absorb their soul I continued watching the fight beside them. The Timekeeper turning toward me said. "Who do I owe the pleasure my lord." They said monotonously." Palming the pocketwatch I thought of something different. What if I instead merged the Timekeepers soul with the deceased ones to empower it before stitching it in the pocketwatch. "I wish to see how you have performed thus far." I responded while also putting "read books about soul crafting" in a mental checklist.

Getting a bit bored and feeling the urge to absorb souls I decid- no I clamped down on my urges now thinking this wasn't such a good idea. Walking out of the battlefield I pulled out my own soul and lord and behold my fractured soul had black liquid filling the cracks. Channeling the Wanderers Library soul fragment, which resisted before I sent my intentions through the Way, I channeled its power to cleanse the liquid. As I did so it started turning clear and opaque before receding entirely. After doing so the system responded with a notification.

(Title Received: Cleanser)

(Grants: 25% resistance to diseases, and increases effectiveness of ridding people of their ailments.)

Looking at my (Divinity) it was still

What was left behind was a fray like crystal surface that seemed to change the longer you looked at it. It almost acted like it wasn't supposed to exist as it flickered between different states of being yet still inhabiting the same space and material only changing its shape. As I wondered if I was now going to not exist when I finished this quest I found the affected spots turn invisible. After losing my composure I exerted my will the look exactly the same as before. My skin along with my Trenchcoat appeared right back where it was.

After I stopped testing what this was I got a notification.

(Quest: Power Through Faith)

You have found a way to repair your soul through the husks of others. But with how little that one glob filled it would take quite a couple thousand to completely repair, but hey you have a cult use them.

(Rewards: Non-Permanent damage to soul, New Companion (Soul Wraith), Alters Physical Form, Influences path to Godhood, Gain 1000 points)

——->(Dwindling Yet Increasing)

You have rejected the path of a soul eater. Turning your back on the ways of gaining power through the deaths of othere has now left you nothing, quite literally. Yet in this nothingness you have found some use as for there to be nothing someone has to be soemthing for them to think it.

(Rewards: Non Permanent Soul Damage, Incrased Soul Strength, Alters Physical Form, Companion (W.D. Gaster), Influences Path To Godhood, 5,000 Points)

Now I'm not certain on this, but would thie be a bad thing if the system says I get (Increased Soul Strength), and (5,000) points). The last time I got something like that was when I created SCP-5000 so this had to be good right? Probably. Soon after I walked out of the side room I had retreated into when aI was having my episode. As I walked out I was met with my spectral army relentlessly going against the Churches cultists and abomination as they tried their hardest to reach the exits. The Timekeeper stared at me for a long while before muttering, "Unfortunate." If there was a bigger sign of them knowing about my soul corruption, and wanting me dead, I would kill you and eat tour soul.

I was now even closer to just saying screw it and either absorbing or finding a way to merge their soul with my pocketwatch. Deciding to do just that I called upon the library to hand me the best book for the occasion. As I did so a book titled "How To Use Your Family As Something Usefull" aside from the honestly morbid title the content was strikingly good. With step by step guides on how to say sacrifice someone to a demon yet get a merciful AND one that dosen't want to screw you over for power. Although I was intrigued I didn't want to bring a demon incursion to the world.

What was more interesting was the part about infusing souls into objects, AND making it so they have no control over the object so the soul dosen't try to make the thing you've infused stop working in the middle of a life threatening moment. Turns out that one was extremely common among those who practiced soul infusion. As I was reading, and subconsciously blocking bullets, I found what I wanted. Siphoning, I was already doing it, but it was more instinct than knowledge, so all I had to do was take the energy and just put it back into the pocketwatch.

But there was something that would enhance this process. If I were to get them to absorb souls themselves will gain their own soul back increasing the quality of it. Now knowing what to do I got the attention of the Timekeeper. "I believe there are reinforcments coming from that side about 100 metres away." I said to which the Time Keeper nodded and started directing soldiers to cover the suspected area. While they were doing so I directed every dead soul possible into a glob that was 12 inches by 12 inches straight at their metaphysical self.

They probably felt the aura and turned lookibg straight at me as their eyes glowed a dark blue mistified. Setting the glob down I threw myself backwards dodging a bolt that I identified would accelerate my growth by 10,000 times. Twisting myself midair I spotted the Timekeeper and commanded the spectral warriors to turn their blades, claws, guns and lasers towards them. As they were about to mistify I used my Infinity convept to make the floor they were trying to dematerialize off of expand forever on itself. This caused their teleporting ability not work as they had to traverse 1,000,000,000 kilometres causing their metaphysical self to grow tired at the unexpected space they had to travel to get out of their prison. As the first of the gunshots where nearing the Timekeeper they let out a time slowing wave.

(Immunity: Time)

But they were trying to fight me using something I had already mastered. Weaving the wave they sent against me to instead rebound at themselves as adding the effect of tranfering the speed it hit them to effect how far backwards they would recede. As the time wave was sent back and travelling 1,000,000,000 kilometres of space the Time Keeper send a suicidal attack through telepathy using their own soul to make me braindead. But as I used my own soul to defend myself I felt the power they sent towards it seep through the cracks of bothibgbess only to have it grow. The Timekeepers eyes widened as they watched their power be taken over as the crystal like nothingness overtook my soul. Faltering I got rid of the space that was keeping them prison before launching the corruption soul ball at them.

Tired and exhausted the Timekeeper could only watch as it impacted with what was left of their soul. Looking at me stunned the Timekeeper let out a shrieking wail as their body started peeling as they were taken apart layer by layer their previous blue was being replaced by a sickly purple. I didn't wait to find out if they were about to kick my shit in as I siezed the soul took out my pocketwatch and channeled their corrupted self into it. As they let out one more roaring scream their body started getting sucked into it. Once inside I used Infinity to make the space that the soul inhabited spread with the corruption the soul emmited to use and contain for power. Using Infinity once more I made so to even attempt to escape they would have to traverse multiple worlds, prisons and best guardians while their power was being drained at a constant rate keeping them barely alive.

(The Will of the Ever-present)

The Wanderers Library has existed throughout the beginning of the multiverse. With this comes understanding of time itself of which it gone through leaps and bounds to pour its understanding of the concept into this pocket watch. Aside from enhancing its abilities it has also brung the spirit of the Timekeeper that held it back into existence in service of the now Libraries Ruler.

——->(The Ruler Everyflowing)

This pocketwatch originally housed the fragment of a timekeepers power granting it the user the ability to channel this power through it. Now however the Wanderers Librarys designated Ruler has restored and summoned the Timekeeper to only corrupt it to increase its power before binding it to the pocketwatch as it originally was. Time now flows through the device as it continoudly grows in power through the trapped Timekeeper. This pocketwatch has also evolved due to the concentration of spiritual energy within it.

As I observed the pocketwatch I felt a burning pain on my hands as I held it. Afterwards I could feel what it touched the wind that blew on it and every speck of dust that was on its surface. Willing it to disappear it did just that. Before I could try anything else another notification appeared.

(Quest Conplete: Dwindling Yet Increasing)

You have rejected the path of a soul eater. Turning your back on the ways of gaining power through the deaths of othere has now left you nothing, quite literally. Yet in this nothingness you have found some use as for there to be nothing someone has to be soemthing for them to think it.

Wondering what happened to my soul for this to occur I watched as it had a crystalline structure overtop its surface. Wondering if this was such a good idea I tried to touch the crystals only for them to deform and allow my hand straight through. Observing my soul it looked exactly the same just brighter, grayer and larger. After removing my hand the crystals popped back into existence.

After doing my self check I had realized I hadn't done a self inspection. Which in the end revealed that I was covered in crystals that oddly increased the range of motion of my limbs. Though when ovserving myself I felt the sudden urge to stop looking at the crystals as they seemed unnatural and like they shouldn't exist. Powering through the feeling it seemed that the crystals had taken the generic shape of a person without the defining features of myself. The Trenchcoat however stayed but that could be solved by just making it dissapear. Wondering if I was stuck this was the crystals reformed to show my body and the urge to look away left me.

I looked exactly as I always had been black hair that hooked behind my ears, and my pristine body that looked liked I was chiseled out of marble. My arms still muscular yet not so large to be a detriment in a fight. My eyes however, though still emmiting a yellow light, had grayish whisps overtake the edges of my yellow glow. My Trenchcoat also seemed to have the colour gray overtake the bottom part of it as it seemingly flowed like a river as it constantly shifted.

The Church had long been dealt with as they had been thoroughly rooted in place while witnessing my fight with the Timekeeper. And my spectral warriors seizing the opportunity put then down like dogs.

Now with my job done I sent a message to Jody informing him of the conplication, and informed him on what the Time Keeper had done. Thanfully I absorbed the memories of the Time Keeper relating to the training and information regarding the strategys I told them to review. They ranged from CHARRRRRRRRRGE!!!!!!, to basic pincer maneuvers and encirclements, to multiple day strategys to avoid detection and eliminate and entire battalion without anyone noticing.

While sifting through the Time Keepers information I was interupted by a garble of text.

Followed by a very goopy guy who looked like they had a mask for a head.
