Chapter 3 Finding My Mate

Did he say what I thought he did? Did Wilson just say he wanted to hang out with me? Could it be true? Let me stress again that my middle school friend wants him to be my mate.

I heard the angry growl my wolf. I felt woozy and grinned.

"We already have Gabriel. There should be one else," she reputed.

I acted deaf towards her. I couldn’t care less about Gabriel.

Elliot came and spoke, "I'm so happy to be a family with you."

Just as I was about to pass out, a low growl woke us up.

"Too bad she's not yours."

Goose bumps came out all over my body, and I was even more nervous.

I was sure that it was Gabriel.

"Alpha," Wilson greeted before letting go of me and bowing with a playful smile. "Do you know this beautiful girl?"

Hearing his words, Gabriel clenched his fist and his eyes flashed a trace of gloom.

My wolf gone angry. Struggling to free herself from Wilson's arm, she forced both of us to ran towards Gabriel.

"There is no doubt about that. Elizabeth, how could I not remember?" I heard my name smoothly slipped from his mouth like silk, and my heart ached. If Wilson hadn't caught me, I would have fallen to the ground.

God, help me.

In a brief silence, Gabriel finally broke the deadlock.

"Wilson, do you mind if I bring her to dance?" Gabriel asked.

‘He didn’t just ask me for a dance. Did he?’

My wolf jumped up and down excitedly. "Don't go with that fool, Gabriel is our mate!"

"Do whatever you want!

"Shut up!" I said grumpily.

‘Please don't do this, Wilson. Please don't do this. Please, please.’ I didn’t want Gabriel to agree to him. Besides, I am my own person. I didn’t need them to decide for me.

Wilson nodded to me and shook my hand.

This was all a misunderstanding.

As soon my hand and Gabriel’s hand touched, I felt an inexplicable surge of electricity that jolted my entire body, making me feel hot and feverish.

It was the kind of connection that Wilson and I seemed to be missing.

His arm went around my waist and he hugged me tightly. My wolf was in ecstasy. I couldn’t that I was feeling the same as my wolf. It was as if we wanted to remain on this position forever and never leave.

‘What a hypocrite, Elizabeth!’ I scolded myself.

I shouldn’t expect much.

"I only danced with you to tell you something," he began, his gray eyes contrasting with my hazel pupils.

I raised my eyebrows and let him go on.

I regretted that I had not asked him what he wanted to say, as I was silenced by his last words.

"I don't want to be your mate. I have never loved you, so don't think for a second that I will. I don't agree to be your mate, Elizabeth" Gabriel continued without hesitation.

It was as if he had thought of those words beforehand. I felt tears welling up in my eyes. In all my years in school, I had never cried in front of Gabriel, so I quickly closed my eyes and tried to squeeze the tears out of them. I couldn’t let him see me crying.

But how could he say that? Why did my mate had to be so rude? My wolf barked in agony as she was hit hard.

I closed my eyes and took a deep breath.

‘You can do this, Elizabeth. You must continue. For you and for your wolf. Come on, Elizabeth, you’re strong.’

"You know, Gabriel," I interrupted with a clenched jaw. "I despise you even more. I don't want to spend my life with an asshole like you. You are the worst man I have ever and will ever met. I hope you have a good future. You deserve it. Leave!" I pushed his chest with both hands so he could release me.

"Eliza!" He shouted in a quivering voice.

"How can you call me with that disgusting tone of yours? I, Elizabeth Bartlett will not let you, Gabriel Wood, be my mate. Goodbye!"

I didn't want to spend any more time with him, so I ran away. Thank the moon goddess that no one heard it. I heard my brother said that I was sick and needed to go home.

That's true, too. I'm not feeling well. All I felt was pain excruciating all over my body, especially in my heart.

I was sure that with the rejection, my wolf would be in greater pain.

"Don't worry about me. I'm fine. You're right. Our partner is a fool." I laughed when I heard my wolf talking.

"What do you think of long-distance running?" I asked to encourage her.

"I can’t ask for more."

Upon hearing that, I took off my coat, tied it around my ankles, shifted and started running.

As I threw stones into the lake, I reminisce about everything that happened a few hours ago.

I met my enemy who ended up to be my mate, and foolishly rejected me.

I feel lightheaded and have a terrible headache. I want to tear my body apart, and everything that was giving me pain.

Suddenly, I felt a sharp pain in my abdomen. My eyes were burning along with my body.

I threw up.

"Elizabeth, my God!" I heard a voice behind me. "What's the matter?"

It was Mike’s voice. He gently stroked my hair with his fingers, trying to comfort me.

"Sister, what exactly happened?"

I threw up again.

After I cleaned myself, we sat on a nearby board. He wet the end of a shirt he brought and wipe my face with it.

"How did you know I was here?" I mumbled, disgusted by the vomit pouring out of my throat.

"I left as soon as I got your message." When you didn't come, I was so anxious that I looked for you everywhere. I won't let anything happen to you. I had a hard time finding you, but thank the moon goddess that I did." As he spoke, one of his arms was on my shoulder.

I looked up and saw that his eyes were full of worry. Should I tell him?

"I already found my mate."

His eyes narrowed. "What? You already did before me? You're in luck! Why are you vomiting here? Hurry up and get over there. That unlucky person will be worried to death."

"No." I shook my head. And silence filled the air.

"I understand!"

I gasped, knowing that something was going to happen next.

Mike stood up and his face showed menace. He pulled a huge tree beside him and gave it a hard pull. As he spoke, he threw it as if it had been thrown on the ground.

I was dumbfounded.

Mike was that kind of a man. He couldn’t easily handle his anger. He must vent out at all cost.

I couldn't help but frown. "Why do you treat this thing like this?"
