"Don't forget to stop by for your reward!" Called Ginny.
"Yes, I'll stop by on my way back!" Yren called back as he headed for the large fancy house.
Yren knew that this was the Mayor's house, but he didn't know that this was his daughter. The girl in his arms was so frail and light, but she was always quick to dish out insults in Yren's experience with the girl.
The large house had no front yard, but there was a wrapped around deck that was furnished, but Yren had never seen anyone use it. For that matter, Yren had never even met the Mayor and was starting to get a little nervous.
What would someone like that think of a strange man carrying his daughter home like this, Yren asked himself as he walked up to the front door. Before he could even raise a hand to knock, the door was opened.
A tall and robust-looking female maid was standing waiting and motioned for Yren to enter without a word. Before Yren could speak, the woman turned and started walking into the house and up a flight of stairs.
Yren gulped and followed.
Something about this place made his hairs stand up on end like he had just entered a Dungeon, but he followed. There was a man at the front door that closed it behind Yren and then just stood after that, and Yren wondered if that was all he did.
"The Master will see you after you place Miss Kimora in her bed. My name is Inna, and I am the head servant. If there is anything you need, young master, feel free to ask it of me," The woman announced after turning to Yren, making him feel like the offer was for much more than just fetching a drink.
"Umm, thank you. Where is the lady's room?" Yren asked nervously as they reached the second floor, and one of the doors on the right opened.
"This is Miss Kimora's room, young master," Inna said in a gentle voice, gesturing to the room.
Yren nodded but then stopped to look at Inna questioningly.
"Why do you keep calling me, young master? I am just the son of a blacksmith, nothing more," Yren explained, but Inna shook her head, making her blonde curls bounce.
"You are to be engaged to Miss Kimora, making you my future master as Miss Kimora's personal Servant," Inna explained casually, and Yren's eyes went big as his heart started to race.
"Y-You, said what?! When was I supposed to know about this?! This is my first time coming to this place, and I barely know this girl! Plus, I think she hates me!" Yren argued, but the sounds of a rich male voice laughing came from a room directly left of him.
The door opened and revealed a man in a white suit and fancy black hair smiling at Yren. Something about this man made Yren feel very unsettled, but there was also an unmistakably friendly aura that he could feel coming from the man.
"Place my daughter in her bed, and then we can talk. I have been waiting twenty years for this moment!" Clyde told Yren as he switched the remaining wine in his crystal glass.
Now Yren was beyond confused, considering he had only been alive just over eighteen, and yet this man had known this moment would come. Yren knew that he should be on guard here, but something inside told him to relax.
"Sure," Yren said as casually as he could and walked over to the first room that had opened.
The room was like nothing he had ever seen but much darker than he had expected. The walls were red with black trimming, and the furniture, including the four-poster bed that Yren walked over to.
After laying Kimora down, Yren looked down at her; his mind was a mess. The girl did look cute now that she was asleep, but he knew she would wake up to the same vicious girl he remembered.
Yren sighed and left the room to head back over to the other open door across from the one he had just been in. The boy was still confused about how everything had turned out so far and was concerned about what the Mayor's true purpose was.
Clyde was waiting for him and offered him a glass of wine, but Yren declined. The Mayor placed the crystal wine glass back on his desk and smiled warmly at Yren.
"Oh, not a fan of wine?" Clyde asked curiously.
"Sorry, I don't really like drinking. I have had enough of that horse piss my father drinks for a lifetime," Yren replied as he stood in the center of the room, standing as straight as possible.
"Relax, my boy! I invited you for a friendly talk and to thank you for my daughter's rescue! I have no idea what would have happened if you hadn't been there!" Clyde announced in a dramatic voice.
Yren had a suspicion that Kimora had been the eyes on him before, which meant he was the reason she got in trouble. Still, what Inna had said was all that was on Yren's mind at the moment.
"Why did you want to talk to me, sir? Inna told me that I am to be betrothed to your daughter, but this is the first I am hearing about it. Also, I am already betrothed to Ginny according to… wait a minute!" Yren exclaimed as he dug through his thoughts.
'That's right! Rephilia had said that she was trying to force Kimora with the same task!' Yren remembered in his head.
"Oh, Ginny! Yes, Rephilia said that she was doing that, but I don't see the problem. You have married both my daughters then! I mean, Ginny isn't my actual child, but Rephilia has spoken, so that is that! What a lucky man you are turning out to be!" Clyde exclaimed and then drained his wine with a lavish flourish after he was finished.
