"The siren witch...are you sure what I'm experiencing is that life-threatening?" I started to get nervous. Kole is the one who knows everything and everything about illnesses, wars, and overall siren knowledge. This is because of his ability making it easy and instinctive for him to know that but why doesn't know what I'm dealing with now?
Kole swam near the electrified bars that are in between us. "Listen, I'm confused as well. I've never seen anything like this before." He closed his eyes to think. "The symptoms are not even connected to each other and it's low-key frustrating me."
"If it's not really damaging and just poison, I can wait for your conclusion later." I said to him, trying to convince myself that it isn't that bad.
Kole shook his head. "The side effects are what you get from poison but if it really was, then you'd be vomiting blood, having stomach aches, high stomach acid or inflammation. It doesn't make sense since it goes to your heart and tail.
"Maybe the poison was designed that way." I tried to reason out.
Kole shook his head again. "I doubt that. Just go to Malnivero. I promise, I think it might be more serious than you think."
I furrowed my brows, not grasping what he's trying to say. "What are you trying to imply, exactly?"
Kole looked at me with worry. "You're gonna be king and every sea creature has known that for a while now. Remember, there are other sirens with powers other than us like Malnivero."
"Are you saying it's a curse?" It makes sense if we put it that way.
"Yes. Father should not know about this either." Kole said.
"And why is that?"
"He'll start the war immediately without thinking straight. You don't want that to happen, do you?"
"No..." I said silently.
"Then go to Malnivero. He's the only witch siren who is on our side for some reason. Just don't get fooled easily and be cunning." Kole warns me. "Even if he's not like other witch sirens, you need to watch out about what he says...and the deals that he offers."
Deals... "How do you know so much? I get that you're incredibly smart and intelligent...but about Malnivero-"
"I made a deal with him."
I got nervous.
"What is the deal about?"
I was almost too scared to ask. Kole just looked me in the eyes.
Kole just looked at me with a sorry expression. " The condition is that I can't say it to anyone or-mfmmhnn"
"What the heck?" I asked.
Kole sighed. "I'm prevented from saying anything about it, otherwise that would happen. " Kole chuckled sadly. "He already knew I'd say it. I bet he immediately cast a spell to prevent me from saying anything right before I left."
"I thought you read the contract?" I asked.
"See. The thing is, I did read everything. Turns out Malnivero can do anything he wants. That's why I'm telling you to be cunning and be wary of whatever he would say."
My heart started to burn again and my head is starting to ache. Kole saw this and cleared his throat.
"Just go. Trust me."
"Alright...I'll go now."
"I'll cover for you. I'll tell dad you went offshore to hangout with her."
"Don't mention her."
"What the hell? Why sudden change of heart?"
I looked at Kole who was genuinely confused. I thought he hated Coraline.
"Just...tell dad I was called to rescue a litter of puppies out of town."
"Huh...uhm fine then." Kole said. "It ended badly, huh?"
I just pressed my lips. "I'll just go."

Kole's POV
I know I don't like her much but she's still Kosair's mate at the end of the day. She was always nice to me even though I wasn't.
I looked at Kosair who was swimming away to the direction of Malnivero's lair then had an idea.
I silently whispered to myself. "Maybe it's just the aftermath of a break up?"
I shook my head. It doesn't go that bad. But to be fair, sirens only have one mate.
A thought came to my mind.
After I get released from here...
I'm gonna talk to cousin Iris.
