29 A Terrible Susspicion

Adam felt like looser, who got cheated by a petty crook.

“You are still young, you have not seen as much as we have," the policeman continued. “You remind me a bit of young policemen who joined the service for lofty ideals. You are defended by the naivety of youth, but me…” he shook his head.

Adam remained silenced, just listening to old cup. He wasn’t certain, itch of them was in the worst mood.

“I, although” Niedzic continued “I have been working in this profession for almost thirty years, have not seen anything like that. I wonder if there used to be so little serial killers, or if we just couldn't find a pattern?”

The old policeman's philosophical musings may have been interesting, but Adam preferred him to get straight to the subject he had come with. His presence was not only embarrassing, but disturbing.

“But I don't suppose that's what you wanted to talk to me about?”

“To the point, right? Well, okay then. Something stinks to me about this case.”
