Chapter 34

The news clip of the interview with Mr. Hand played on the six o'clock news. He looked suitably flustered and uncomfortable. They edited out the parts where he became a complete raving lunatic. The bit that they kept replaying at the end was our confrontation. I don't know what happened but by some magic I didn't look like some underaged little kid whining about how life was tough.

Compared to Mr. Hand, I looked like I had it all together. It helped that they referred to 'sources' that linked me to the arrest of the would-be rapist and the saving of another student. What took me completely by surprise was how many other stations picked up the story. I was doing interviews over the phone before the eleven o'clock news and an on camera interview with the same blonde who had trapped Mr. Hand so nicely. My mom even got to say something on camera though I'm not sure she enjoyed it as much as I did.
