Chapter 5

"Oh my God!" Freya squealed as soon as she opened her locker.

Everyone turned to look at her.

"What is it, Freya? Why did you scream like that?" Tessa queried.

Freya was trembling.

"Tell us, Freya. What's the matter?" Roxanne asked.

"L-Lo-Look," she stuttered pointing at the picture in the locker. It was a picture of the six of them but someone drew an X on her face and wrote 'First target, signed Sammy.'

"What?" Danica shrieked.

"Shh! Keep your voice down, Danica", Tessa hushed.

"Seriously? Why are you guys getting worked up over this?" Roxanne said.

"It could be a prank," Tessa said.

"B-But... Who c-could have done it?" Freya stammered.

"Come on, Freya! Stop stammering. It's no big deal," Tessa said.

"We need to tell Claudia and Claire about it first," Danica said.

"Hmm... Come to think of it, they might have planned it. Perhaps they wanted to scare Freya," Roxanne said.

"Scare me? But why would they do something like that?" Freya asked looking puzzled.

"You know how Claudia is. She likes pranking people," Tessa said.

"I know but I'm her friend. She wouldn't do such thing to me," Freya said.

"You never can tell," Roxanne said.

Just then, the bell was ring signifying the beginning of classes.

"We have to go to class now. We'll meet again in the cafeteria during lunch break to discuss it," Danica said.

"Yeah, you're right. And then, we'll tell Claudia and Claire about it," Freya said.

The rest nodded and they went to their class. Freya couldn't concentrate all through the lessons before break. She was acting weirdly and had excused herself from the class several times and each time she returned, she looked like she'd seen a ghost.

"What's wrong with Freya?" Claudia asked Danica in a whisper.

"I don't know," Danica replied back in a whisper.

The last teacher before lunch break came in and began to teach. Suddenly, Freya began to pant heavily. Roxanne, who was sitting beside her, was surprised.

"Hey Freya! What's the matter?" She asked softly.

Freya was quiet. Her eyes were wide opened and she looked really terrified.

"Talk to me, Freya," Roxanne urged.

"S-S-Sa-Sammy!" Freya stuttered.

"What do you mean by Sammy?"

"The person t-teaching us is S-Sammy," Freya stuttered in fright.

"What are you saying Freya? I don't understand a thing you're saying. I don't see Sammy anywhere," Roxanne said.

And then, Freya screamed out in terror. Everyone turned to her in shock. She stood up immediately trembling with fear. She looked around and saw all eyes on her.

"Are you ok, Freya?" The teacher asked.

"Please excuse me , Mrs Timberlake," Freya rushed out her words and without waiting for her permission to be granted, she ran out of the classroom.

"What was that?" Jade mumbled.

'Oh no! This is not good,' Roxanne thought.

Claudia was a little worried.

"Do you know the reason behind Freya's strange behaviour?" She asked Claire.

"I don't know. She looks terrified," Claire said.

"We'll talk about it in the cafeteria," Danica said.

"Do you know?" Claire asked.

"Kind of," Danica replied.

Claudia rolled her eyes.

"Whatever," she said.

As soon as the bell was rung, the five of them rushed out of the class even before Mrs Timberlake.

"What are they up to?" Jade said.

Slowly, she stood up and left the class. She walked down the hallway alone heading to the cafeteria.

If only Sammy was there with her... But of course Sammy's ghost was right beside her even though she couldn't see her. Lost in her thoughts, she bumped into someone.

"I'm sorry," she said.

"Watch where you're going you fool!"

"Hey! I apologized already!" Jade said angrily and shifted the strands of hair obstructing her view in order to get get a better view of the person.

"Oh Jade it's you!" Danica said.

"Yup. It's me and that's the reason you called me a fool." Jade rolled her eyes.

"Whatever. I need to speak to you," Danica said.

"Oh wow! Did I just hear you say you wanna speak with me?" Jade asked.

"Cut the crap Jade and follow me!" Danica was beginning to get angry.

"Seriously? Are you ordering me now? You know, I'm the one to decide if I wanna follow you or not," Jade said.

Danica sighed in defeat.

"Fine. Can I have a word with you? In private," Danica said.

"Good. Now I can accept to go with you," Jade said.

Danica rolled her eyes and walked away while Jade followed her. They got to a place with less students.

"Why are we here?" Jade asked looking around.

Danica didn't reply her.

"Ah!" Jade gasped. "Don't tell me you wanna kill me!"

"Shut the hell up, Jade!" Why the hell would I want to kill you?" Danica said angrily.

Jade breathed out in relief.

"I was just thinking..." She said giving her a knowing look.

"Get that dirty thought out of your mind, Jade and listen to what I wanna tell you.

"Urrgh! Whatever." Jade rolled her eyes. "What do you wanna say?"

'Gosh! This girl is getting on my nerves,' Danica thought.

"Go on Danica. Don't keep me waiting."

"Why did you do this?" Danica asked showing her a picture.

"Do what? What's that?" Jade asked with a puzzled look.

"See for yourself," Danica said giving her the picture.

"Oh my!" Jade exclaimed in surprise. "What's this? Did Sammy really write this?".

"Oh Jade! Cut the acting and tell me why you did it. You and I know that Sammy's dead and there's no way she can do it," Danica said.

Jade laughed which made Danica irritated.

"What's funny?"

"You really think I did it, Danica? Well for your information, I didn't do it. Perhaps it's really Sammy."

Danica's heart skipped a beat.

"Sammy? Why... Why would Sammy do it?" She asked trying to hide her nervousness.

"Perhaps she wanna get her revenge," Jade mumbled and left.

Danica heard her and the thought of it gave her goosebumps.

"Oh no! What if Jade is right? What if it's really Sammy? I have to get back to the others," she said feeling frightened.

"Guys, I just spoke to Jade but she said she didn't do it," Danica said.

Freya was shivering in fright. She hadn't even touched her meal.

"Get a hold of yourself Freya. We're not the only ones here," Tessa said.

"Yes. Otherwise, they'll suspect that something's wrong," Claire said.

B-But how do you guys expect me to be calm when sh-she's right in front of me?" Freya stuttered.

"What?" Claudia exclaimed in shock.

Sammy smirked looking at Freya with anger in her eyes. Suddenly, her eyes turned black.

"YOU MUST PAY!" Sammy screeched.

"No! No! Nooo!!" Freya screamed and the whole cafeteria turned to her.

Her friends flinched and looked at her in fright. Freya stood up immediately and ran away from the cafeteria heading to the restroom. Her friends went after her.

"Oh no! This isn't good," Claire mumbled as they went after her.

Freya got to the female restroom and locked the door. Luckily, no one was inside. She began to cry.

"Oh God! What have I done?" She cried.

Then she turned to the mirror after washing her face. What she saw in the mirror gave her goosebumps. She saw Sammy holding a knife looking angrily at her. It was just like she was about to get kicked.

"S-Sammy please! I'm sorry. I'm so sorry!" She cried.

"Ha! Ha! Ha!" Sammy laughed. "I'm not gonna kill you now."

Freya turned immediately but she didn't see her. Looking back at the mirror, she saw her again.

"Freya! Freya! Open the door!" Claire said and she rushed to open it immediately panting heavily.

"What is it Freya? Why did you lock the door?" Tessa asked.

Freya didn't say anything. She burst into tears and hugged Tessa. The rest joined in the hug.
