Family Meeting

Soren and I could change our wolves' appearance to blend in better. All of us can. We went deep into the woods, avoiding all the guards. We should not be out of our cells, but nobody was there to tell us anything. It was their fault for leaving us unsupervised.

Again.

These wolves have the worst security ever. Somebody is always busy. When we were deep enough in the woods Soren mind-linked our brother Shiraga. He could teleport. If he knew the coordinates and had an idea of where we are he would be able to come.

After a minute or two Shiraga appeared. He dashed through the portal and right into us.

"For the love of the Moon Goddess, I was so worried about you two. This was a terrible idea."

He squished us in a bone-crushing hug. "It is great to see you too." Soren and I say at the same time.

Next to Shiraga, Shiro appears. I run into his arms and crash into him. He starts to chuckle "I missed you too sis." I was close to all my siblings but with Shiro especially. We were twins. It was a crazy thing. Soren and Shiraga looked exactly alike yet they were a year apart and I and Shiro looked almost nothing alike, yet we were twins.

Genetics are weird.

"Please take us out of here," Soren says after hugging Shiro.

"Gladly" Shiraga responds. We go through the portal, and it takes us to an open field full of grass and a variety of flowers. "I missed this place so much." I could have sworn tears poked Soren's eyes.

Did she dislike the pack that much?

"Care to inform us of everything that has happened?" Shiro asks.

"Pleasure before business my dear brother. Race you to the edge of this field?" She smirked at him and Shiro smirked right back. "You are so on." I grinned "Do not even think about leaving me out."

"You guys are going to get wrecked." Shiraga smugly said.

Each of us shifted into our wolves and sprinted off.

I shifted into my beautiful pink wolf, Shiro into his colorful shade of blue wolf, Soren into her white wolf, and Shiraga into his golden wolf.

Each of our wolves reached a height of six to seven feet tall.

Running freely was the best thing ever. I have not let my wolf out for a run in what felt like ages. Even at max speed, it took us ten minutes to reach the edge of the field. Shiraga came in first, Soren in second, Shiro in third, and that left me in fourth. Each of us was divided by only a couple of seconds.

"I went easy on all of you," I said through panted breaths. Shiraga chuckled "Sure."

We relaxed for a couple more minutes before we told them about everything that has happened so far.

"So, your mate is clueless, your Luna is hiding her identity, women are hitting on your guy, nobody likes Soren, and now you guys have to attend school. Not to mention your beds are the concrete floors of a cell."

Shiro concluded. Soren popped a flower in his mouth. Her eyes turned green indicating that she was using her earth element.

"Ouch. I was only telling the truth." Shiro said through the multitude of petals he was spitting from his mouth.

"I do not like them either, so it does not bother me." Soren sprawled herself on the grass.

"Why do you think she would hide her identity? How long do you think she is planning to hide it?" I speak aloud.

"Forever most likely. How did Ranor come across her? For him to not know she was a witch for so long means she has been masking her scent for a long time. Possibly before she even met Ranor." Shiro replied.

"That would mean she was on the run." Soren speculated.

"Have you heard anything regarding any witch hunts?" Shiro asked Shiraga. Shiraga shook his head. "I do not get involved with witch business. They hold grudges that pass down to multiple generations. Not a race you would like to make an enemy of. Even if I did, they like to keep internal affairs internal. They would not share any information with anybody. To them, it is a sign of weakness. No race would want other races to know one of their own was missing. If that person was exceptionally important anyways."

I frowned. This witch was harboring secrets.

"On another note. What are you going to do about Seth? You guys do not seem to be on good terms." Shiro asked. The thought brought exhaustion to my body. "I have no idea. I do not know him well enough." I closed my eyes and basked in the sun.

"Well for one you could stop talking In riddles and just go on a date with him," Shiro said. "She is not talking in riddles he is just dense. It does not take a genius to figure out that what Seth said was beyond insulting. It was just a fancier way of calling us stupid. Not to mention him calling us barbarians."

"He said you acted like a barbarian not that you were one." I tried to save him some face. Soren lifted her eyebrow. "Is there a difference?" guess not.

"I never liked the thought of you being around a guy in the first place. They are making you sleep on concrete. I hate not being able to look after you both."

I knew this was hard on Shiraga. He was always the protective older brother who wanted tabs on us 24/7. He was caring, but this was a time I needed to figure out what I wanted for myself.

I crawled to him and hugged him. I kissed him on the cheek. "Do not worry too much. We are fine."

He frowned. "You know that is impossible for me. I have a bad feeling about all of this. Especially that witch. You still do not know what such a big rouge was doing deep in pack territory. Their guard did not even see it. It is apparent these people are lousy protectors. I would not trust them with your life."

I sighed. He had a point. Soren and I slipped past their guards easily without trying. Maybe that was because we are us, but still. Their defense could use some work. Did Ranor not put up the extra security after the rouge spotting?

"Do you think he suspects us?" Soren asked. "Who?"

"Ranor. Do you think he suspects we led that rouge deep into their territory? Seth has been a little distant with you. Normally he would visit you every second of the day but now he visits every couple of hours. Do you think Ranor told him something? Or that he is just busy?"

Thinking back on it, Seth was clingier when we first arrived. I thought the distance was because of the fight. Maybe Ranor did tell him something.

"Honestly? I do not know. I feel things are going to get out of hand quickly."

"We should definitely investigate. Shiraga and I will research the witch and you guys will handle the rouge." Shiro said.

"I could visit some of the covens nearby. I know a couple of witches. I could ask if they knew a witch that goes by the name Ela." Shiraga said.

Soren shook her head. "I am sure she changed her name. If she is willing to lie about her race, lying about a name does not seem like something she would not do. I will search the entire forest for rouges. My earth element should do the trick."

Shiro nodded. "Be careful. We do not need you to be detected. We will ask round for a witch that fits Ela's description."

Yes, because a witch with black hair and green eyes is not common at all.

"We are going to need something more definitive about her. Something that makes her stand out from other witches. We need more information about her before we do anything. We do not want to light the wrong match. If she is on the run, she is on the run for a reason." I spoke.

"I highly doubt she will give us any information. Blackmail would not work either since we have little to no evidence about her being a witch. We are not 100% sure ourselves. It might work if we corner her. Put her on the spot. Like asking a question in front of a lot of people. One that would not seem suspicious enough to turn down. Act like she has nothing to hide when she does." It was not a bad idea, but it also was not guaranteed to work.

"Ranor may stop us if she gets too uncomfortable. Any truth-telling spells?" I asked. "What do you think Ranor will do when he learns we spelled his mate? Forget about being in the pack and all of this will be for nothing. We can't afford her snitching."

"Once we do have the information, we could blackmail her into not telling Ranor anything."

"That is if she has anything extort worthy. Otherwise, she would have no problem ratting us out. "

"You guys are going about this the wrong way. All these ideas are too reliant on the reactions of others. We should go the old-fashioned way and kill them with kindness. Gain her trust. Get her to tell you what she knows. Once she feels safe, she will not hold back. "

Shiro said

"If she wouldn't tell her mate, why would she tell us? Especially when we already confronted her about it."

"Would you not trust a friend more than a mate? A friend is easier to talk to. Less judgmental. We are not in a rush. If push comes to shove, we will spell her. Until then let us play it safe."

We all nod our heads in agreement.

"I will look for unfamiliar life forms in the territory as well," I speak.

We all exchange a look of determination. We will find out the secrets of this pack and whatever is happening in it. It is better to know what we are up against. This time we will be the ones doing the investigation.
