Sitting down face-to-face on the living room ground, Ed pulls out some chalk and draws something on the ground. One circle, two circles, a star in the middle. "Have you seen this before?"
You study it, cocking your head to the side. "Nope."
Ed nods understandably, leaning forwards. "There are many types of transmutation circles. This," Ed gestures towards his drawing on the ground, "is a standard transmutation circle. The reason it must be a circle is because the circle," Ed traces the outer circle, "represents the flow of power, and how one insignificant being may cause a chain reaction that turns into something bigger. The middle part," Ed traces the star, "is the... 'spell' part of it. What lies on the insides partially decided what your alchemy will do. Now, show me your alchemy again."
You stare at the transmutation circle. "Wait." You drag out. "How do you draw such a perfect circle?"
You pick up the piece of chalk from the ground and attempt to copy what Ed had drawn on the ground. It turns out lopsided and odd-looking. Ed snorts.
"Talent," he says. "Now, do some alchemy for me."
You quietly pull out your small pocket knife and drag it lightly across your palm. A small bit of blood comes out. "That won't do much." You mutter.
You clap your hands together and place them on the marble ground, imagining the flow of never-ending, powerful energy. A flash of purple occurs, and where there used to be ground, there was a small, nicely formed figurine of a (Favorite/Animal). You pick it up proudly. "It's not much, but I didn't have much materials to work with."
Ed takes it from your hand delicately. "Not bad."
You sit there and watch as Ed examines each detail, assesing your skill. You remember something. "Ed?"
"Yeah?"
"How long was I out for?"
Ed turns his gaze to you. "Hmmm... Two days, I think."
"...."
"...."
"TWO DAYS!? Did I miss anything!?" Your sudden outburst makes Ed jump and drop your marble masterpiece.
Ed regains his posture and picks up your figurine, fiddling with it, eyes in a distant place. You take his silence oddly and tilt your head.
"Something wrong?"
Ed looks back at you, surprised. "Huh? Oh. It's nothing. I'm fine."
You narrow your eyes suspiciously. . You sigh. "Something's wrong, isn't there?"
Ed flinches, not meeting your eyes. "No, I'm fine. Seriously."
You glare at Ed, willing his composure to break. When he finally sighs, you relax. "I... (Y/N), did you have any dreams while you were unconscious?"
You stare into Ed's golden eyes curiously. "No... Why?"
Ed looks at the ground, hands falling still. "I-I heard you talking in your sleep, and you said... you said that you absolutely hated the Elric brothers for ruining your plan."
You inhale sharply. "For ruining... my plan...?"
"Yeah..."
"I don't remember having a plan... much less you guys ruining it for me."
Ed stays quiet, and the silence takes over. You press your lips into a thin line awkwardly. Now that you think about it, Ed had been acting a bit distant the entire time. You remember his talk with you about Al, and his lesson on alchemy, and-
Wait. His lesson on alchemy? How did he know anything about alchemy? You lean forwards. "Ed. How do you know anything about alchemy? Aren't you just a person who travels around in a caravan or something?"
Ed looks into your eyes, and you catch a hint of wist in his eyes. "That's something... you don't need to know... yet."
Curiosity immediately takes over your mind, but you push the feeling away. It's quiet again as the both of you slip into your own thoughts. Your gaze is on the ground, but when you feel Ed's eyes staring into you, you look up again. "You blame me, don't you?" You whisper softly.
Ed looks away. You look at the side of his face for awhile before you sigh, annoyed. "You're not in the mood to talk, aren't you? Well, then, I'll be going out to clear my mind."
You push yourself up from your seated position and stretch, walking to the door. Slipping on your shoes, you step out of your suite.
You find yourself right outside the door of the hotel. It was still raining, though you didn't know if it continues from the storm two days ago or if this one was a completely new one. It was only a sprinkle, though.
The smell and sound of the rain calms you, and you close your eyes, breathing in the fresh, distinct smell of rain. You draw Ed's red coat tightly against yourself, breathing in his scent along with the rain's. It made you feel comforted, even if it was a little creepy.
You walk down the slippery sidewalk lazily. No one was out except was you, and the lack of sound and talking was a bit odd, though it helped you think. Before long, your thoughts slip back to what Ed had said earlier.
You dig deep into your mind, trying to remember any plan that you had thought of before that got ruined.
Nothing.
It was a bit strange, considering the fact that your dream self and unconscious mind knew more about you and your memories than you yourself did.
You play everything strange that had happened so far in your mind. First, you appear in a forest out of nowhere, with no past, documents, or paperwork about you. Second, you had an automail arm that seemed to amaze everyone, like it was something that has never been seen before. Third, you had odd alchemical powers that no one else was able to do or understand. Except for maybe Ed. And Al. Fourth, a mysterious and creepy man came to attack you saying that he hated powerful beings like you. What was happening? And what would happen next?
By then, the sprinkling rain had already gone through the coat and soaked you through to the bone, so you turn around and head back towards the hotel.
Your mind wanders to Ed's face when you asked him whether he blames you or not. You flinch as you see his face, sorrowful and full of guilt, but with a flame in his eyes. Shivers run up your spine as you see his face in your memories, his golden eyes shining. Not only that, they made you melt, and it felt odd to you. You sigh.
You felt as if you were in the middle of something horrible, and there was no way to get out.
