~With Ozpin~
Ozpin stood, gazing out his floor to ceiling window from his office. The kingdom of Vale in all its glory laid out before him. The sky was clear of clouds and there was a gentle wind he could see coming in from the south. Ozpin had just finished up the last of the paperwork he had for today, so he decided to take a brake to relieve his mind and look out at Vale.
As Ozpin gazed out the window, the sound of the elevator's doors dinged. Then the sound of heels and soft foot falls greeted his ears. Turning around, Ozpin saw his wife, Salem, and his assistant, Glynda, entered his office. One of which held a stack of folders in her arms.
Ozpin: "Salem, love it good to see you again. Glynda, you can just set them on my desk." Ozpin said as he took a sip from his mug he held. "What do I owe the pleasure for the two of you to grace my office?" Ozpin asked as he stared wearily at the folders Glynda set on his desk.
Glynda: "I just came by to drop off these which you need to go over and give your signature." Glynda responded evenly.
Salem: "I sensed something off and came to warn you." Salem said, which caused them to raise an eyebrow. I felt an aura and magic burst come from the Southwest."
Glynda: "Well, Mr Scarlett was sent on a 'search and destroy' mission to the Southwest forest." Glynda answered Salem. "It might just be him."
Ozpin: "I agree. It maybe just him fighting." Ozpin speculated. "But for him to flare his magic? I'm curious to what he's fighting."
Salem: "I'm more worried about Logan's current location." Salem said worryingly. "He's currently flying up high. Very high."
Ozpin: "That can't be good."
Glynda: "That's never a good thing to hear." Glynda said. "Especially when it involves Mr Scarlett. We all know what he's capable of."
Salem: "That's odd." Salem said as she turned towards the window, catching the attention of Ozpin and Glynda. "He stopped... about 2 miles up?"
Even though Salem was blindfolded, she could 'see' in a sense. But what she didn't 'see' was Ozpin's and Glynda's faces. Both of which were very pale.
~With Raven and Vernal~
As soon as Logan stormed out of Raven's tent and left the camp, Raven rushed out and started to bark order left and right. Not long afterward, she opened a portal to her tribe's main camp. Vernal did her best helping order things that took priority over others.
Vernal: "Raven." Vernal called to her. "How long til Logan drops that mallet of his?" Her face pale at the thought of how little time they may have.
Raven: "Depending on how mad he is, we may have maybe ten minutes at the most." Raven answered her before barking more orders at a passing tribeswomen. "I'm more worried about how much damage he'll cause. If Vale is affected by it, Grimm could come swarming faster then ever."
Vernal: "I understan- No you dipshite! Wounded first then important shite! Things can be replaced, people can't! Sorry, these idiots can't follow orders."
Raven: "It's fine..." Raven said before stopping and a small smile donned her lips. "You know, this kinda reminds me of how me and Logan first met."
Vernal: "Okay, that's the last of the wounded! Get all the important shite first then everything else!" Vernal shouted at several tribesmen and women. "How so?"
Raven: "You remember that hot spring the women found and guarded zealously? And I mean no male was allowed with in 200 feet of it? Any found would be heavily punished?" Raven asked and Vernal nodded her head.
Vernal: "Yeah, the place was great." Vernal said before wondering out loud. "Though I was away when it was lost, I always wondered what happened. None of the girls wanted to talk about what happened."
Raven: "Well some of the women got me to come with them to relax. When we got there, we found Logan naked and bathing without a care in the world." Raven reminisced. "The women with me charged as soon as they saw him. It was a blink and you missed it thing. I blinked and suddenly all the girls with me were bound with ash and he's standing there naked as the day he was born."
Vernal: "What!? No way he was that fast!" Vernal argued, then blushed at the thought of Logan naked.
Raven: "He was and he's packing big time." Raven teased Vernal. "Anyway, I was standing in between him and his clothes when he saw me. He made a sword and slashed at me with a downwards strike and I blocked it. One thing lead to another and he got away with his clothes."
Vernal: "Okay... how's this anything like when you met him?" Vernal asked as she shook off her embarrassment as the last of the tribe's important things were sent through the portal.
Raven: "To get away with his clothes, he set the forest on fire and made a lot of smoke." Raven said as she then ushered in everyone, leaving behind all the now empty tents, wooden crates, and barrels. "As we went to deal with the fire, Logan threw that mallet from about a thousand feet up onto where the hot spring once was. He turned it in to a crater." Raven said as she and Vernal entered the portal.
~With Logan~
Logan slowly flapped his wings as he hovered two miles in the air above the crevice that the Kanibal tribe was hiding in. Logan had patiently waited for Raven to evacuate her tribesmen away from the area as he planed his next move. Raven messaged Logan when she left the area with her tribe, giving the go ahead to rain hell on them.
Logan: "At least she's fast." Logan mumbled to himself. 'Now, the shock-wave will probably reach Vale and Beacon.' Logan thought as he pulled his one tonne mallet out. "Eh, it'll be fine."
The mallet looked like a massive war hammer that stood tall at ten foot handle. The head of the hammer was a perfect square of five feet. The entire thing looked like and shined like silver with golden line work running from each face down to the handle's pommel. The pommel itself was a long two inch tall barbed spike. Every little bit of it was made from densely packed steel with so much gravity dust that it weighted approximately 1.3 tonnes. And Logan just let it drop like he was trowing away some trash.
Not even five hundred feet after it left Logan's hand, a sonic boom happened. As the hammer sped towards the ground, it became a streak of light. At impact, the shock-wave shot out in all directions. Ripping trees out of the ground, sending dirt flying in all directions, and indenting the earth below.
A five hundred foot hole deep with a width of about two hundred feet, appeared after all the dust settled down and cleared. Logan flew down and inspected the crater and crevice to make sure that everything was collapsed properly and there was little to no chance for any survivors. The crevice was gone, it was as if the impact closed it and destroy any trace of it. The earthquake guaranteed the collapse of any and all tunnels the Kanibal tribe could have dug out.
Logan: "Well, everything is well and truly-" Logan was saying to himself as his scroll went off. "Hello?~"
Glynda (On call): "Logan... Why, in the name of Oum, did you drop that ridiculous hammer of yours; from TWO MILES UP!" Glynda yelled into Logan's ear from his scroll. Her voice was so loud that Logan had to hold his scroll away from his ear.
Logan: "Well, I spent the last six days constantly fighting Grimm and I had to sleep in trees. Any camp I made was quickly overrun and, here's the kicker, apparently there was a tribe that could control Grimm." Logan said as he shuffled his scroll over to his other ear. "So, all in all, I had had it."
Ozpin (On call): "What was that about the Grimm being controlled!?" Ozpin yelled into Logan's other ear.
Logan: "Okay, I'm on speaker." Logan said as he moved his scroll back to his other ear. "To answer your question, yes. A cannibalistic tribe know as Kanibal; I know, what a name; somehow managed to tame a few hundred Grimm. Ranging from small deathstalkers to large Nevermores."
Ozpin (On call): "*Sigh* Any survivors?" Ozpin asked tiredly. "We'll need some form of proof for the report."
Logan: "No problem, I'll try to-" Logan was saying when a rumbling interrupted him. "Hold on. I'm switching to face cam and starting a recording."
As Logan was speaking, he flew up into the air while he switched his scroll over to what her said and holding it away from him with his ash. About five seconds later, a massive Alpha Centinel burst from the ground, a centipede like Grimm. The Grimm was about two hundred foot long and each segment was close to ten feet wide, five feet tall, and four feet long. Every segment was armored with white bone plates and spikes; it's legs had bone covers that ended sharp points and barbs. The head had a long spike pointing out in front of its bone mask
While the Grimm was surprising, but what rode it is what caught Logan's attention. A woman sat on top of its head like it was a throne. She was human, but the best way to describe her was corrupted by Grimm. Half of her body was a tanned skin tone and one eye was a vibrant purple. The other half was almost snow white and appeared to be grown on to her, her left hand up to her elbow was black and she looked like she had Freddy Kruger finger claws made from bone. Her left leg looked like it was replaced by a hind leg of a Beowolf. The top left part of her face and eye was covered by a bone mask that made her eye glow blood red. The rest of her body had bone plates covering her in seemingly random places.
Logan: "Looks like we found out how..." Logan commented grimly as he flew down in front of the Alpha Centinel.
As Logan landed, he had his ash began to build up behind him. The corrupted woman watch Logan for a bit, before she jumped off the Grimm. With a wave of her claw hand, the Centinel charged ahead, trying to impale Logan on its head spike. As it charged, Logan formed his ash into a spinning saw blade at chest height for him. At the last second, Logan jumped to the side while leaving the ash saw blade behind. With it unable to turn in time, the spinning saw blade tore into the Grimm's head. Segment after segment began to disappear as the saw blade cut through them. By the time its momentum was lost, the saw had cut through almost twenty segments.
Logan took a glance to see if the woman was still here and it almost cost him to be hit. The Centinel, now 80 feet shorter, got back up and swung its body at Logan while he was distracted. Logan, not wanting to take any more chances, spun his saw blade up again and shot it back at the Grimm's head. Logan watched as the saw blade collided with its new head, only for it to bounce off.
Logan: "Great... it harder now and can regenerate its head... Could it be a natural mutation?" Logan grumbled, then examined the Grimm. "Note to self, find that island Doctor Merlot went to. He may have teamed up with whoever is controlling the Grimm."
Logan didn't want to waste any more time. Pulling out his [Hell-sent], Logan began to lay waste to the Centinel as he flew around it. It took Logan an hour to finally tear through the last segment, and as he turned to find the corrupted women, he found nothing. Not a trace of her or where she could have possibly went.
Logan: "Well, shit." Logan said as he pulled his scroll back to him. "You guys see where she went?" Logan asked into his scroll.
Glynda: "No, unfortunately not." Came Glynda's voice.
Ozpin: "We were too focused on your fight." Ozpin's voice came next. "While the Grimm you just fought was intriguing, what I saw on the head of that woman was the most surprising; for me at least."
Logan: "What was it?" Logan asked, hoping it wasn't too bad.
Ozpin: "An elder Sulfur Fish."
Logan: "Aren't all Sulfur Fish already elders?" Logan asked the Headmaster.
Ozpin: "No, at least not quite." Ozpin answered. "Normally, all Sulfur Fish can be considered elders due to their immense intelligence. But they only become a true elder when they combine with a Chill Grimm when the two of them take over a nearly dead person. By doing so, and when that person dies, do the Sulfur Fish become elders. They usually feast on the body when they become an elder. Once they do, they almost always rush to open water to hid in its deepest depths." Ozpin explained to Logan, who had a sense of dread coming. "But for one to be attached to a living human, that can only be by ether pure luck or..."
Logan: "Someone did it on purpose." Logan finished for him.
