Gunslinging

Its was nearly an hour before Logan and Tai returned from their shopping trip. Summer was kind enough to greet them as they walked through the living room with their respective bags. Though she was confused as to why Logan was carrying a few ammo tins under his arm with a quiver of arrows on his back. It took a few minutes for Logan to explain it to Summer. But when Summer heard that he took the guns off of some bandits, she was proud of him. She then offered to help him if there was any missing parts of anything, but Logan declined and said that he hasn't done really any maintenance on them ever since he got them other then making sure they were operational and shouldn't be a problem. Logan then turned to Tai as he was heading up stairs and directed a question to the both of them. Asking if they wouldn't mind if he tested them in the training area/yard. They didn't mind and Tai said he'll tell the girls as Logan was comming up to drop off his new clothes and then Summer yelled to him that Qrow left for a mission a while ago.

Logan didn't take much time to drop off his clothes and head out side. When he passed by the living room, Summer was sitting on the couch drinking tea from a coffe mug with a smile on her face. She just waved at him as he exited the house. Logan didn't know why she did that untill he was standing in front of it. Off to the side of the yard was a folding table and chair with a note from her saying she pulled them out of the shed for Logan. Logan smiled at this and got to work. He pulled of his bow first and opened it and leaned it against the table after setting the ammo tins down on the ground. Then he pulled out the revolver and then the pistol and set them on the table with the cleaning kit. The first one Logan decided to work on was the revolver.

The revolver reminded Logan of the anime/manga 'Trigun', similar color scheme and all. The revolver was similar in design to the 'AGL Arms .45 Long Colt' from 'Trigun' with several key differances. One being that it wasn't break action; the cylinder opened up on ether side of the gun, kinda like the 'Mateba Autorevolver' it was based on. Anther one is that it didn't take the the .45 long rounds nor the .357 magnum or the .45 magnum rounds ether. It takes full sized .308 Winchester rounds and has not that bad of a recoil due to its weight at 6.5+ pounds. The blade part had a long and wide piece of metal that came straight down from the end of the barrel. Logan wasted no time and removed that massive bit of metal from the gun, significantly reducing it's weight.

Logan: 'Man, Trigun was one of the few animes that I got into. I always like it's premise of it. Actually, now that I think of it, Cowboy Beep Bop had the same premise. Gunslinging space cowboys. Though one took place on multiple worlds and the other was on a god forsaken desert planet.' Logan thought as he disassembled the revolver with practiced ease.

Ruby and Yang came out as Logan was cleaning the revolver's barrel. The two of them hung back behind Logan as they watched him work. Logan had noticed them as they were coming over, but seeing as they didn't interrupt him just yet he let them be. As Logan was putting the revolver back together, Yang spoke.

Yang: "So, were'd you'd steal it from?" Yang asked bluntly.

Ruby: "Yang!" Ruby shouted at her sister's blunt question

Yang: "What?! It's not like he can just go and buy that from a store!" Yang defended herself from Ruby.

Logan: "Well, she's not wrong, Ruby. I did take it, but it was from a bandit that tried to rob a group that I was travling with, same with the other gun. They just didn't realize that there were several hunters in that group." Logan helped defend Yang and explained. "I just had my bow and knife then, and I just needed something else for when I ran out of arrows. So after the bandits were captured, I asked the hunters if they didn't mind if I scavenged their arms and ammuntion for myself. They didn't mind as they were gonna just scrap the guns and take the ammo to sell or use if they could." Logan explained.

Ruby/Yang: "Oh."

Yang: "What's that big blade thing there?" Yang asked when she saw the removed revolver blade.

Logan: "The blade that this once had on it. I hated it, so I removing it. Now is really the only time I could do any REAL maintenance or modifcations on ether of them." Logan said as he finished putting the revolver back together, but without the blade. "Now, I just want to shoot this monster of a gun, again." Logan said with a massive grin plastered on his face as he looked at the beast of a revolver in his hand.

Ruby: "COOL! Oh, what caliber is it? .50? .357?" Ruby started swooning over the revolver as Logan stood up and she saw it. "It lookes like an old .45 Stampede, but the cylinder is different." Ruby thought aloud as she raced around Logan's arm he out streched for Ruby.

Yang: Careful there sis." Yang said as she pulled Ruby away from Logan. "You never checked to see if it was loaded."

Logan: "It's not, I can assure you that." Logan said as he heaved a sigh of relif as Ruby was pulled away.

Yang: "All I'm saying; IF it was, you could have gotten hurt or worse killed."

Ruby: "Sorry..." Ruby said as she looked down as she realized her mistake. "I just got too exicted."

Logan: "It's fine, Ruby. We all make mistakes." Logan said as he lightly patted her head. To Logan, she looked just like a sad puppy. "Ruby, have you unlocked you aura yet?"

Ruby: "Aaa... yea?" Ruby was surprised by Logan so it took her a second to reply. Yang just looked on with a smirk direacted at her sister.

Logan: "Have you learned how to strengthen yourself with it?"

Yang: "As soon as both me and Ruby unlocked our aura, that was the first thing Dad taught us." Yang told Logan. She was confused as to why he was asking Ruby in the first place.

Logan: "Tell you both what. After I shoot the five rounds from the cylinder first, whoever wins between the two of you in Rock-Paper-Scissors can shoot it next. The looser after them. Sound good?" Logan offered to the two girls. The girls looked at each other then nodded to Logan in agreement.

Logan walked away from the two of them as they started their game, already having grabbed five rounds of .308 Winchester from an ammo tin. Logan then took the ash he made for the holsters of the guns and bow, and then made two things. One was a target the size of a dinner plate about ten yards away and the other was a cowboy style quick-draw holster. Logan felt giddy as exitment was building up inside him. Taking a deep breath, Logan forcibly calmed himself down and cleared his mind of stray thoughts. Strengthining himself with aura, Logan focused on the target while blocking out Yang, who won, and Ruby, who lost. Logan gently placed the revolver into the holster, cocked and ready. The girls watched as Logan just stood there, then without warning, Logan drew. Logan's arm was a blur as he fired the first shot which sounded like thunder cracking and lightening striking.

Logan's first shot was dead center. Before the to girls could realize it, another two shots rang out again. Each one being place on ether side of the first shot, just bearly touching each other. Logan then took aim with both hands on the gun. The fourth shot was directly above the first one, just like the second and third shots. The fifth one was just like the fourth, but directly below the first. Releasing the pent up breath Logan didn't know he was holding, Logan ejected the spent casings from the cylinder and caught them in his hand. Pulling the ash target in, Logan looked over his work with a smile. As he turned around, Logan was greeted with the shocked faces of Ruby and Yang.

Yang/Ruby: "Whoa!" was all they said as they staired at Logan. Ruby was the first that woke up from their stuper.

Ruby: "That was increadable! Were you trained like that? Or are you self taught? Could you teach me how to shoot like that? Oh, you just reminded me of those old Gunslingers!" Ruby said all in one breath. Logan couldn't really understand her until Yang repeated what she said, much more slowly.

Logan: "Thank you, I'm mostly self taught and I've always been a decent shot too." Logan said as he handed the revolver to Yang. "I don't mind giving you some pointers, but what you learn will depend on you yourself. Now you two, five shots each. No more, no less. If you want to shoot more, you pay for the rounds you shoot. Got it?"

The two of them nodded their heads in understanding. Taking a picture of his shooting with his scroll, Logan the restored the target and reset the distance before walking off. As he got back to the folding table, Logan looked at the other fire arm he scavenged. The more he looked, the more uneased he felt about it.

For starters, the base colors were mat black with silver accents. For the base frame, it hada 'Mauser C96 frame with an external, detachable double-stacked magazine. It had a 'Luger p08 artillery' barrel with the front sight. The rear sight and the reciever looked like they were from a 'Colt 1911A1'. This mashup even shot .45 ACP rounds. Logan shuddered at the thought of the crazed madman that thought this was a great idea for a gun.

Logan: 'If I wasn't so pressed of resorces, I would scrape this monstrosity. Whoever made this is a psychopath. They even carved the name of the damn thing, Vermanschen, into the side of the barrel! It's name is German for mashup! I mean, what were they thinking!' Logan thought as he begain to disasemble the gun.

As he was dismantling the vermanschen, Yang just finished shooting her five shots. Only to let out a groan as he fail misserably to recreate Logan's shots and only hit 3 out of five shots. She then handed the revolver over to Ruby who took aim after the target reset itself. Taking aim, Ruby's first shot was great and hit close to the middle of the target. Her second shot was a complete miss. The third shot was dead center and the four was a little wide to the left. Her fifth and final shot was over lapping with her third's top left. Ruby was proud of her shooting and Yang could dislike Ruby for it. Yang could admit to herself that her style wasn't single precise shots, but accuracy by volume of fire. Hence why her weapon will be a pair of guantles that incorperate an 8 gauge shotgun in each one.

Yang: 'Ruby has yet to find her style of fighting, but with how well she shoots... Heck, i wouldn't be surprised if her became a marksmen. Logan already said he'll help her out if she needs it.' Yang thought as she patted Ruby's head like Logan did. "You did great Rubes. Though I'm not really a accuracte person."

Ruby: " 'Accuracy by volume of fire', right?" Ruby said with a smile whiched earned her a messy head pat that messed up her hair. Ruby pouted at Yang and started to fix her hair after handing the gun over to her.

As the two walked back over to Logan, they saw that he was deep in thought. The two girls approached quietly on ether side of him and peered over his shoulders. They saw the other gun in pieces on the table. With a deep sigh, Logan put the gun back together in a few minutes. As Logan finished, Yang put the revolver down on the table. After talking for a few minutes, Ruby and Yang found out that the pistol was useless as it didn't even work. Logan would have to make or buy several custom parts to make it functional and it would take a long time. As it sat, it was just a decorative piece.

Logan: "Barrel, reciever, and mag well for starters. Then the internals and firing pin. And Oum knows what else." Logan said with a deep sigh.

Ruby: "Well, it looks... nice?" Ruby said trying to lighten Logan's mood.

Yang just rolled her eyes as even she knew that the pistol was a hunk of junk as it sits. She then asked if Logan was finished and if he wanted to play some video games if he was. Logan, who knew he needed a distraction, said yes. Once he finished packing his things up, Ruby got the chair and Yang got the table and walked to the shed to put them up. As the three met back up, they went into the house for a break. In Logan's case, a well earned one at that.
