Chapter 30

Maggie laughed. “Well, the last thing I need to be is your mother.”

“Well, you’ve been just about everything else!” Cam countered.

The two women looked at each other without a word for a few minutes. They both knew that their relationship went far beyond what it started out to be. But there was still that line that neither wanted to cross, even though they had to make it look that way to the outside world.

“Everything, that is, but what Michael is,” Maggie stated.

“Yes, that,” Cam said softly.

Maggie was silent for a few minutes.

“Well, at least I have an intro into the Gardiner family now. I don’t want to fit in too fast. That would make folks curious.”

“I agree,” Maggie concurred. “Slow is better. There’s no rush on this.” Maggie hesitated for a moment. “Now, what about this Sonya?”

“Sonya?”

“Yes, Sonya. Are you getting involved with her?” Maggie wanted to know.
