Fifty-Six

"Hello Miss Morgan, I am to be your new Guard." He was on a knee and held one of my hands to his lips. I was not impressed. He had dark blue hair and shining silver eyes, wearing the knight outfit as if it were made for him. He was as of now my guard, and he was all of twenty-one.

"How high is your clearance Lieutenant?" I ask and he grins up at me.

"High enough to know I am serving a princess of our country." I smile wryly at him before gesturing for him to get up and I picked up a stack of papers and a pen and gestured for him to follow me.

"Well, I suppose you want to continue training correct? I spend time working in the knights training area most days it's nice, so you can train during that time if you like. I know you like to spar with the other knights frequently." He flinched in surprise before hurrying to speak.

"You don't have to-" He starts but I cut him off as he trails behind me.

"Lieutenant Cross, I am believe I already said I already sit there most days. I do not care if you wish to train during the interim I work now do I? Besides it will make it easier for you to do your job, there is no loss." I reply shortly and he stopped for a moment before continuing to chase after me.

After a while I walked over to the Lieutenant and handed him a towel. He seemed surprised by the gesture when his sparring partner called to me.

"Eyyyy Roe-Chan how ya doin'? You haven't been around here in a while we missed ya'!" He called casually and I called back like I usually did. He and I had spoken frequently during my time I spent watching the fighting. He seemed to be entertained by the fact that an advisor of the King would watch the training.

"Hello Marcus, have you managed to get a promotion yet?" I reply back and he pouts at me before whining.

"It ain't that easy! Soon as I can imma be your guard!" I laughed and watched as he playfully glared at my guard who seemed thrown off guard by the knights words.

"'Ey man, lemme warn yah' this girl attracts danger! Yer got to watch 'er carefully. And if you fail right after you get punished by the king we will be here, waiting to pile on and torment you to the day you die. It's every last knight here's dream to serve HER. Not even the king compares to her in our eyes because she takes the people in to account. Heck, once our entire barrack came down with he flu. You can't do nothin' about a flu sept' contain it. That little lass over there came and brought us extra blankets and soup. She's an angel and you better do your job properly!" He threatened and I laughed at the exchange. This was why I liked to sit out here, there wasn't a single person mean to me. The bad ones steered clear of me or were forced to. I love these battle idiots simply because there like family. I hate to consider losing one of them, yet we might very soon.
