Chapter Eighteen

Captain Sparrow and Captain Raven arrived soon after with the guard who had run (Lupis) and we're sweaty. It seemed they were practicing together when Lupis went to get Captain Sparrow and Captain Raven tagged along because of the severity. Several knights followed far behind, obviously not nearly as fast as the other three.

"Are you injured?" The ask the moment they spy me.

"No, however my office is completely trashed. If I had been here I could have stopped it, but I had lunch with the King today." I stared darkly at my broken door and one of them sighed in relief.

"T-told you..." Lupis gasped as he clutched his knees to support himself as he regained his breath.

"Silence Lupis, Rose was there any documents stolen?" Sparrow snapped at him, and proceeded to become gentle a moment later for me.

"No, I passed all the important documents to the secretary earlier, and I didn't keep mis-writes. Lucky thing too, otherwise our position might be unfavorable." I had been entrusted highly sensitive information before, I just kept it with me when I had it. I won't say what it was, but if anyone found out... No, don't want to think about it.

"I'll report to the king." Captain Raven says before taking off again, and I sighed before returning to my office to begin tidying it. I was picking up individual glass shards when the King stormed in. Seeing me crouched on the floor cleaning and obviously not hurt he sighed in relief. I stood and tossed in the glass into a bag the soldiers had brought to put the evidence in. I leaned against my desk and waited for him to speak.

"I heard you didn't have anything here, is that true?" I nodded and he sighs in relief.

"I told you earlier my door was damaged right? I kept 'that' with me today because of it." I tapped the briefcase I carried and he sighs again.

"I only have that document in here, so I will pass it to you here, since my security is obviously compromised. I think this has to do with 'that' as well." He nodded and took my briefcase in his hands before sighing heavily and speaking.

"Rose, if you hadn't taken that with you..." His voice trailed off, and I nodded.

"I expected this to happen soon anyways, so I never left it un-attended." He stares at me before laughing at me.

"Of course you did, your Rose after all..." I scowl at him.

"I feel you have said something unreasonable." He laughed again but I continued to scowl at him unhappily.
