Not A Fireball

The team of ten instantly became a member less. Each one knew what happened but was not speaking about it.

A gloomy atmosphere surrounded them as they cleared the ground floor of the building.

"When we finish the second floor, let us rest for ten minutes before continuing." Dante suggested and the other agreed.

They moved quickly to the second floor and finished their business with the zombies and because all of the rooms were already open, searching them for survivors was not necessary, lessening the work they're going to do.

Miles leaned on a wall and slowly slid onto the floor.

He was so exhausted he let his body slump on the floor without any resistance. His body was full of injuries inside including torn muscles and broken bones.

Taking a health potion in his hands, he immediately drank it and felt a comforting sensation accompanied with the slow healing of his body.

However, not all of them were healed. He drank another one but still, a few of his injuries remained.

'Argh, Damn it.' He cursed.

Knowing that the health potion was not enough to heal him, Miles stopped drinking them because doing so was just a waste.

He sat in a lotus position and looked around the team who were all resting. Helen was healing the others and some were cleaning their clothes from blood.

Julia approached Miles and spoke. "I'll go down to collect the drops."

That was her task she volunteered to do and the others were not opposed to it.

With her being the fastest among the team, she can do the job quicker and if anything happens, she could just escape without any problems.

"Alright. Be careful." Miles said and after Julia left, he performed the Serene River Meditation to recover some of his energy.

Killing the enraged zombies was a burdening task but his gain from it was great.

[ Current Points: 1,365 ]

After slaughtering more than a hundred enraged zombies in a minute, his points exceeded 1,000 points.

'At last, I have more than 1,000 points.'

But seeing the points in his panel made him think twice of what he really wanted to do with it.

Sure, he has a chance to roll for a Rare item or skill from the 1,000 point dice but that chance was very small, ⅙ and his chance of rolling for a Trash was fifty percent.

Hesitation fell upon him when he realized that if he rolled ten 100 point dice, he had a chance of getting five Normal results but he could only get one if he rolled in the 1,000 point dice.

Five items or one item. That was basically it.

Other than that, the chances of getting Trash for both dice was fifty percent. Even though he could draw for a Rare on the 1,000 point dice, it was very little and with his past rolls, he knew that his luck was not that good.

'I'll roll three 100 point dice and see what I can get.'

He moved to an empty room while the others were resting.

After performing the Serene River Meditation, his body gained enough energy to move properly again but some of his deep injuries were still bothering him. He would just need to endure the pain because even Helen couldn't do anything to his internal wounds after casting her skills on him.

Miles sat on the floor and rolled the first 100 point Item dice.

[ Congratulations! You have received the item, '10 Meter Burnt Copper Wire(Trash)'. ]

He sighed and thought. 'Again.'

[ Congratulations! You have received the item, 'Banana Peel(Trash)'. ]

'Again!'

[ Congratulations! You have received the item, 'Rusty Bolt(Trash)'. ]

'Hah..I'm really unlucky. Now, I don't want to waste the 1,000 point dice by getting a Trash.'

When he was contemplating on what he was going to do, someone knocked on the door.

"Miles, Julia returned so we'll resume the mission." Michelle peeked her head and said.

"Thanks, I'll be there in a second." Miles said with a smile.

Michelle closed the door and he turned to his panel.

"Ah, fuck it."

[ Skill ] [ 1,000 ]

The dice appeared and Miles held it with both hands, pressing it on his head.

'Please, please, please.'

He let go of the dice and as it rolled, he kept on hoping a Rare skill would appear.

Then, the dice stopped with the green facing up.

[ Congratulations! You have received the skill, 'Flame Bullet(Normal)'. ]

[ Flame Bullet(Normal) - Condense and shoot a small but fast flame from the tip of your finger that could penetrate walls and normal materials. ]

[ Would you like to learn the skill, 'Flame Bullet(Normal)'? ]

Miles sighed and was a little disappointed. But regret won't do anything now.

"Yes."

He still wanted to learn the new skill. It was a normal skill and he was just thinking it was better than another trash.

'But if I rolled five 100 point Skill dice, I could've gotten at least two normal skills. And at least two normal items if I rolled the remaining chances. What a pity.'

Miles slapped his forehead.

'What am I thinking? I should've been thankful that I got another skill. The low chances of getting better skill is just another risk of rolling the Heaven's Dice.'

There was a slight of regret and pity that lingers in him because the points he earned with difficulty ended like that.

But on the one side, a small fire sparked inside him, pushing him to become stronger and earn more points.

He stretched his right arm forward and made his hand into a gun form.

'Flame Bullet.'

A small ball of red flame the size of a marble appeared on the tip of his finger. It was shot as quick as it appeared, only leaving a little trace of red smoke on its tail.

Pwish.

The Flame Bullet hit the wall and it penetrated it, creating a small molten hole in the end.

"Amazing," he muttered as he looked at the result of his skill.

He shot one more time and this time, he tried aiming properly like his hand was a real gun.

Pwish.

The shot hit where he was aiming.

"The accuracy is pretty good." Miles nodded in satisfaction.

"Can I use this skill with both hands?" He asked himself and stretched both of his hands forward.

He then activated the skill with how he comprehended it.

Pwish

Pwish

Two Flame Bullets were shot at the same time.

"I can!" he laughed as he was amazed by his skill.

"Hmm. With this, I can kill more zombies."

He shot again, having a good feel of the skill. At this time, he sensed that something had left his body.

"Hmm? What is that?" he asked himself.

To feel it again and learn what it was, he activated his skill once again, shooting it into the distance.

He felt the sensation of something leaving his body once more.

After pondering for some time, Miles thought of an idea.

"Mana. That should be my mana."

"So I have mana. Hooh. I thought I didn't have it."

"So the cost of this Flame Bullet skill is my mana. Hmm. That makes sense though. These skills consume different things. My Heavy Strike skill consumes my stamina while the Serene River Meditation consumes nothing, which is great by the way. And this Flame Bullet skill consumes my mana but the huge question is how much mana is cost and how large is my mana capacity."

He sighed. "It would be great if I can have something that could value my stats or something. I envy those players!"

"I need to see how many bullets I can fire later. The last thing I want to happen is to experience something bad the moment I deplete my mana pool."

He already has an idea when he exceeds the amount of Heavy Strike skills his body can handle and it was not good. If he exhausts his mana, he is sure something will happen to him and it won't be a good thing.

"I'll gladly accept this because it's a good skill. Although it's just a normal grade skill, my 1,000 points is surely worth it."

Finally, Miles smiled.

Knock knock.

"Oh, coming!" He left the room and saw the people outside already gathered.

"Miles." Julia called him. "I collected the drops from the zombies below."

She showed him the bag on the floor with a bunch of different items.

"Let's distribute the consumables to ourselves and quickly vote for the ones who will receive the skills books and items." He suggested.

"I'm also thinking the same thing." William agreed.

They don't have a contribution or merit points like in a guild or sect that could be used to purchase drop items so voting for it was the only way. Paying for it with money was useless after all.

Miles didn't move and let William do the work.

First they distributed the low level health and mana potion.

Then the items were given to those who needed them after a little vote.

The same happened with the few skill books that appeared.

Paul and Lilia both learned the Crushing Blow(E) skill that they didn't have.

William got the skill Short Dash(E).

Helen learned the Fairy's Glow(D) while Brent learned the Feet Lock(D).

Michelle had the Shield Bash(D) added to her skill set.

Julia also learned a new assassin skill called Soundless Feet(E).

Dante on the other hand didn't get any new skills because he already had the ones that dropped. What he did was learn the Sky Blade(D) skill because he already achieved the level 10 restriction for the skill. Michelle was the same and learned the skill Thick Skin(D) that he received from Miles.

All of them reached at least level 10 after their fight against the enraged zombies.

The highest were Julia and William at level 11. In Miles' eyes, either the number 50 or 55 appeared on top of their heads.

Miles' refused to fight for any skill and refused the ones they offered him, saying that he already had them and he did the same with the items.

The others were confused by it but didn't push it to him any further.

"As expected, the drops from the enraged zombies are better than the normal ones." William said.

There were also skills for the other classes and they reserved them for the ones who will be part of the fighting force.

After sorting the drops and having their strength increased though level up and items, they resumed their raid.

"Let's go. We're already a bit behind our schedule because of some unexpected stops so we need to quicken our pace." Dante said. His right hand was holding the fireman axe tightly while there was a cloth wrapped around his remaining left arm.

After observing him for more than five minutes, the team concluded that he was safe and after the men checked his body, they confirmed he was fine and didn't get infected.

If that happens, and they lost another strong member, it would be a huge deal for the team.

The group of nine moved towards the third floor and it was faster than before, not even taking five minutes for the team to clear the zombies.

Dante was the most active in the group despite losing an arm.

After raiding the Lecture Hall Annex building, they didn't find any survivors and they also gained almost no supplies which was in their expectation. It was a lecture hall after all and only used for studying.

They went down right on their scheduled time and saw the body of Nathan on the ground.

The team surrounded him and paid their respects by covering his entire body with a cloth.

A minute of silence passed and William sighed.

"Let's move and be more careful about our safety."

The team turned and rushed towards the direction of the Lecture Hall Main building.
