Road to Valhalla

My name is Seraph. In a world that is filled with magic, science and arts of unbelievable kinds, I'm relatively ordinary. But then I met them. A group of assassins that work the machines of the world behind closed curtains. And the most striking is their leader, the woman which is the greatest mystery in the world. Though to the world we are all dead, each of us has a story of their own. I wonder if I can find myself a home among these people who call themselves Valkyries and more importantly can I solve all the riddles that surround them?

My Only Friend

Blood spilled on the ground beneath his feet as he stumbled and back away. I let go of Ebony which was still inserted into his chest. He kept looking at me with disbelief. I didn't look straight at him, something in me couldn't face him. He began coughing blood, I suppose his heart had either burst or stopped working.

"Seraph...", he forced his voice out, "How could you?"

I couldn't yet look at his face, I didn't even turn to face him. I pursed my lips and looked up straight to find Chopper's eyes staring straight at me. I think he was urging me to turn around and face the man I had stabbed in the heart. I then looked towards Deli who was confusedly looking between me and Felix.

"Seraph", I think Felix extended his hand towards me as he fell to the ground.

He had begun to struggle breathing. I clenched my fist and quickly hurried over to his side finally.

"I told you...to...", he couldn't finish as he began coughing more blood.

For some reason, the fact that he was ending made me feel like I was losing something important.

"Ebony...it can cut through anything. I cut through the illusion...I'm sorry, Felix...Cassius", I answered, keeping myself together.

"Felix...its fine like that, isn't it?"

"Yeah...Felix", I tried to smile but failed. I held his head up as his eyes lost their glimmer slowly.

"You...made the right choice, Seraph", he smiled back at me weakly, just like he always did, "There is a justification...in your survival. Your life..."

"Felix...", I wanted to say something but I couldn't. Even though I'd known his lies from the beginning, I had never been able to hate or resent him in any way. I never understood why that was, but I never imagined Felix was a bad guy.

I hadn't realized as I was talking to Felix for the last time, everything around us was coming down. There was an explosion or something of the sort in the castle tower. And something made its way out to the vast ground where all of us were. I turned my head, took a look at the flying debris and then turned back to Felix. He was smiling at me, but I'm sure he couldn't see anymore. He held onto my hand, perhaps trying to feel a warmth but I'm sure he couldn't feel that either.

"Seraph...", he spoke for the last time, "Now I can dream...Thank you for being my friend...my only..."

He was gone. His grip on my hand loosened but not mine. I held onto his hand and kept looking at his face. Was he at peace now? I wasn't sure. Was he dreaming a dream of his own now? Perhaps so. My friend Felix had died right in my arms. But I knew I had no time to mourn. He wasn't going to receive any grievances and that made me want to stay by his side even more. But I couldn't. This time, I had to leave.

I rested his head on the ground, closing his eyes and folding his hands on his chest, I could only hope that he was in a better place now. Even if it wasn't that great a place, I hope he could sleep and dream and not be stranded anymore.

"Seraph", Chopper approached me.

I stood up and looked at him.

"Chopper-san, why haven't you gotten her down?", I asked in a low voice, which I thought was barely possible in all the noise that was wreaking behind us. Deli was still crucified.

"We can't do that yet. Sight should be getting here anytime now. He can get her down safely", Chopper replied.

"Sight? Isn't he already here?", I looked back as I had assumed that massive explosion was caused by Sight.

I wondered who it was that had been fighting if not Sight. There had come two figures out of that disaster and had filled the air with a deafening noise from all the destruction they were causing all around them. Though, it was still impossible to catch them anywhere in all that dust and debris as they were moving way too fast and loud.

"No, he should be on her tail though...well, probably", Chopper looked annoyed.

Her? I wondered as I turned to find who he was talking about.

I kept chasing their shadows in that dust storm before I finally recognized one of the two figures. Deli seemed to know both of them. I almost forgot to breathe as I stood there frozen looking at what looked like a natural calamity being caused in front of me.

"Lady?!"
