Rising of the Pet System

A young man who was a slave for as long as he remembers finally gets set free into the world by a powerful devil as her servant. As named by her, he took Hades as a name and a way of life. As her hellhound unleashed on the world, she gave him a contract. The more he sacrifices for her, the more power she will grant him. What to expect? The world of Alseria is a ruthless world so don’t expect people to be just after power or be evil for the sake of evil. Each villain I wrote has a legitimate reason for his action, and by legitimate I mean something good. The MC: He isn’t a good guy neither he is evil. He just wants to get by, and occasionally ends up causing a disaster. His sense of morality isn’t like other people’s due to his upbringing and this story is about him trying to be normal. The MC Powers: He has abilities granted to him by the system, not magic. Even though magic exists and is prominent in the world, our MC doesn’t have the patience to sit and learn it. By the end game, he will have a total of ten powerful abilities (Which are addressed in the ten-chapter prologue) I decided to take the HP, MP, and SP from the system concept since they aren’t good indicators of physical capabilities. Instead, I exchanged them for visual indicators, like if the MC is stabbed in the chest, his health is probably too low to stand. I will keep a review so you can contact me easily.

Prologue II

"Just sit tight for a while, I will start now." The old man said banging his staff on the ground.

With his hand lifted a bag of blood and poured it into the bowl ahead of him.

Suddenly, a bright light flashed from the old man's staff, the room rumbled as the candle fire danced.

"I offer you my blood, my only friend blood, so offer power to master!" The young man's lips moved on their own.

The old man smiled as he saw the red lines flash with a bright light. The spell was working. 'With this, the fall can be prevented once again.' He thought.

As the young man passed away, the blood in the bowl moved on its own toward him. A red eye appeared in the middle of the room.

All the rags on the wall caught on fire, the candles melted and the young man's body got absorbed by the eye.

"Oh great devil, grant me the power to preserve the chains." The old man said lifting his hands up.

The eye glared back at him, "This isn't a sufficient enough sacrifice. I can only preserve two out of the four chains." The eye replied with a deep eerie voice.

The old man's face went sour, turning as pale as a corpse. The chains are cracking and this ritual must be successful.

"Ohm great devil. I request of thee again! Please do help us. I promise to offer more tomorrow, you know I never failed you in the past decades!" The old man cried.

"Indeed, you have kept sacrifice up each year. Each time asking the same thing over and over. And I did answer your prayers each time." The eye pulsed.

"You should know, a mere child and his precious cat aren't a sufficient sacrifice. A human soul is worth only two chains, and cats are worth nothing." The eye growled with malice. The room started to shake.

"Can't you please find a way, we don't have much time before the imminent fall." The old man cried begging.

"There is a way, a human is here in the room. His soul is probably worth a whole century. Offer me your life, mage, and I promise to keep this island afloat for a hundred and fifty years!" The eye growled.

"But oh great devil, I didn't pass my knowledge yet. What will happens after the hundred and fifty years if I left no one to hold my place?" The old man asked with pleading eyes. "I will offer you my life next year, for I still need an heir, for now, please be satisfied with this amount."

The eye went silent for a moment as if thinking, "I told you eighteen years ago to make this brat your heir. Each year I reminded you, yet you never listened." The eye growled causing the walls to crack.

"Oh, great devil…I do not wish for that kid to walk my path, for that is worse than death itself." The old man stared into the eye with a hopeful face.

The eye stopped moving, pondering its next move. What would be more interesting? A more efficient way of harvesting human souls, as well as getting the mage's powerful soul.

It reached a sinister conclusion…

Hey kid, wake up.

The young man opened his eyes in a strange place. A woman with massive horns and black hair was poking his face with her toes.

"What are?" He looked at her confused.

"Your new owner, the old man just gave you to me." She smiled sitting on her throne.

"Gave me to you?" The young man sat up.

"Aren't you happy?" She smiled, "A woman being your master is better than that ugly old beard right?" She smiled poking him again.

"What is a woman? Do you all look like this?" The young man asked staring at her.

…For a moment she didn't know what to say or think. Is this kid serious?

"What were you doing in the past years?" She started at him.

"Years, what is that? You talk about the place with stones?"

…She started to realize the problem, "A year is a time, 365 days. What did that old man teach you?" She stood up from her throne and touched the young man's hair with her hand.

Reading his memory, she almost screamed in frustration.

Day and night, each day, each weak each year. Since this kid was four years old. His routine was waking up in his cell, picking up his hammer, smashing rocks from dawn to late night, going back, dripping water on his head, eating bread, and sleeping.

The only change that happened in this style was a stray cat who made it to his cell five years ago. The cat he has been keeping till this day when the wizard used them both as a sacrifice.

The cat was used as a sacrifice by the young man to summon the devil, and then he as a slave would have to give that power to his master and die as an additional sacrifice. The old man really came with a messed up one like what he did 18 years ago.

The woman snorted and sat back on her throne. An angry look on her face, 'What could I do to get more souls, a single one won't be enough this year…her eyes fell on the kid'

"Hey kid, what's your name?" She asked with a smile.

"What is a name?" He looked at her confused again.

She remembered, when reading his memories, there was never a mention of his name. The bastard never named the kid.

"Makin Hades. This is the name I grant you." She named him since she can and stood up. "From this day, you will be called Makin Hades. This is what a name means." She smiled.

"Makin Hades?" He tried to stand but she pushed him down.

"We haven't finished talking yet, stay put." She growled sitting back on her throne.

"What do you want me to do?" He asked.

"That old man, your old master, I want you to kill him for me." She grinned.

"Why would I do that?"

"Remember that bowl of blood he used? Care to know where it came from?" She flicked her finger and showed him how the old man killed the cat he was keeping as a pet.

"This is why you should kill him for me," stood up and grabbed his face between her hands. Their foreheads touched. She transferred the power with some knowledge to him.

"He killed it…" With his hands shaking, Hades's mind couldn't perceive a way to beat his old master, he never disobeyed him let alone fight him.

"Go, you're my Hell hound now. This is my contract to you, the more you kill, the more power I will grant you." She stood up.

The knowledge necessary to use his ability has already been granted him by her. He was sent back to the mortal world.

In front of the old man, a stream of blood started pouring from the eyes and it moved again.

"I understand and I made my decision, today is your lucky day." The eye said passively.

BOM! BAM! BOM! BAM! The old man heard a strange sound coming from the blood. Like drums slowly beating.

The blood cleared and Hades was standing there glaring at him, "No need for a sacrifice." The eye said menacingly.

The upload would be a chapter a day, with an extra chapter each Friday if the book got over 100 power stones in the week.
