Rising of the Bow hero

What if in the rising of the shield hero, the bow hero wasn't a total douche?? That would be cool I think. And that's what this story is!!!

Chapter 12

When they returned to the hall it was already empty. They followed the noise they heard coming from the courtyard and arrived just in time to see Myne shoot magic at Naofumi during a duel.

"What a bitch!" Jax said as Motoyasu got declared the winner.

Jax watched as Raphtalia ran over to Naofumi and hugged him. He also walked over to Naofumi's side after a while.

He dropped a bag that was filled with holy water vials by his side.

"I believe you." Jax said before walking away with Liv following him.

Jax went to visit Vick before he left the castle and returned to the inn.

Jax was still happy! He received 1000 silver for a reward from the first wave after Vick had told the soldiers what happened at the village. He didn't get any for actually fighting the boss like the other two heroes thought. Jax thought that was weird. Unless, they somehow didn't know the guy in a cloak was him… but there's no way they were that dumb, right?

Wrong.

Anyway!

The next wave was a month away and Jax and Liv went back to grinding levels, learning about language and magic, and Jax was crafting and enchanting more things.

Jax also debated about whether to leave the country but eventually decided against it. If he went deep enough into the forest he could find new monsters to upgrade his bow and gain fighting experience. He also found a few dungeons that he challenged with Liv, but none of them had been very hard so far.

Jax wanted to get to level 80 before the next wave because he wanted to have finished his second class up before they went to the exp island he forgot the name of. That way he could grind the super exp island and not have to worry about hitting the bottleneck of a level cap.

One day Jax was passing by a village when he got to see the spear douche go flying after being kicked in the balls. That was a good day.

Once or twice he had to deal with assassins that snuck in during the night. However they seemed to be targeting Liv, which Jax thought was weird.

Another day when Jax was going around he met someone who was able to strike down a boulder with their bare hands. Jax asked how he did it as he couldn't see any magic and the old lady told him that it was ki.

"Was that a thing… I don't remember it being part of this world." He muttered before asking. "Could you teach me?"

The old lady smiled. "I'm a tough teacher."

Jax nodded. "Okay."

That day both Jax and Liv were forced to meditate to search for the ki within them. The old lady was surprised at how teachable these two were, especially considering that one was the bow hero.

"You know, they say some pretty bad things about the bow hero. I heard you were very lazy, and also that you were a playboy." The old lady commented.

Jax sighed. "I couldn't care less what they think of me. But it's kinda weird that they still call me lazy… We did take care of almost the entire first wave after all… unless." Jax looked at Liv. "Do you think that they really didn't know it was us fighting?"

Liv sighed. "Usually I'd think it's impossible… but everyone in the heroes parties has about one collective brain cell… so yeah. Probably."

Jax facepalmed. "Whatever, they'll figure it out by the next wave."

Liv groaned. "Do we really have too?"

Jax chuckled. "I don't have a choice cause I'm a hero. And you're my kidnapee. So you don't have a choice either."

Liv sighed and lay down on the ground. "Why do I need to save these people?"

Jax shrugged. "Cause I have to."

She turned to face him. "Then why do you have to?"

"To keep you alive." He said with a straight face.

"Huh?" She asked.

"To keep the people I care about alive… and I guess their countries too. You, Vick, Rishia, Naofumi. If I didn't beat the waves and the world ended. You'd all die… I might die too."

Liv smiled and flicked his forehead. "Idiot. You should have just stopped talking before. Could have been a little romantic."

Jax rubbed his forehead with his hand. "Is that what you wanted to hear?"

Liv chucked and sat up. "Who knows?"

Jax smiled and got up and walked after her to continue practicing.

After a week of ki training both of the two were able to sense it and barely use it. They thanked the old lady and continued back home to the inn for the first time in a week. They went back to their normal routine and continued on.

More time passed as the duo journeyed together and eventually. Nearly a month had passed since the last wave and the duo had finally reached level 80.

The two decided to go in for a second class advancement. Once again there were a ton of options to choose from. However one option clearly stood out from the rest for Jax. Without a second thought he picked the Cultivating White Magic Archer.

When he went to check with Liv she had the same exact thought process as he did. She had become a Cultivating Black Magic Swordswoman.

With a few days before the final battle the two took it relatively easy, however they did both gain 1 level in the few days they had left. What can I say?

They were a couple of battle maniacs.
