The Great Rune

Devassa stopped pouring her grey energy inside the ship, making it halt its movements. Her action attracted the attention of both Darkscale and Star Leaf. They didn't get why she was making the ship stop.

Star Leaf was also quite concerned by the fact that the boat stopped right next one of those bones filled with what she saw as disgusting and creepy worm-like creatures. Her eyes could not hide the disgust that she felt while looking at the creatures that were constantly moving around on the towering black bones.

Next to her, Darkscale was also worried. No, not because of the creatures on the black bones.

He simply didn't care much about the worms. To him, they looked like giant versions of the things he used to eat before he had been touched by the Cursed Blood. Although he first felt worried because of their incredible number, that was before he realized that they weren't interested at all in attacking them.

No, the black serpent was much more interested in knowing why they were stopping in that particular location. A silver glow passed through his eyes as he created a small probe with his Ghost Energy and sent it to scan the nearby waters, trying to sense if there was something under there that he couldn't see from his position in the boat.

After searching hundreds of meters around the ship without founding anything of suspicious, his eyes started to shine with silver as the armor of energy that he was wearing doubled in size.

'There is nothing coming' realized the snake.

Not finding a devious monster headed towards his position didn't make the reptile happy. On the contrary. Seeing that there wasn't any beast anything coming to attack him meant that even he couldn't think of an actual need for them to stop there.

His cultivation base roared, as countless threads of silver energy started to appear around his body. "I don't sense any creature coming to attack us..." he said, while his Energy Probe dissipated in the yellow poisonous waters. He didn't use a threatening voice, but the meaning behind his words was evident.

"No, but we're here" explained the violet serpent, nodding towards the black haired Winter next to her. " You should calm down, we are here... this is where we need to be" she repeated when she saw that Darkscale hadn't retracted his aura.

The black snake didn't stop the flow of his Ghost Energy. His eyes moved around, giving the impression that he was searching for something. "Oh and where are the tombs?" he demanded."This doesn't look like a graveyard to me" he continued. His tail started to swing in the air, behind him, like a whip ready to strike.

"This is a natural cemetery... creatures of a certain kind come here to die." revealed Daressa, without giving up many details.

'Of a certain kind?' The black serpent's tail stopped for a moment. Darkscale found the information that he was given by the violet serpent very interesting. It completely validated what he felt.

He could sense that there was a bond of some kind between the energies inside those giant bones. Now he knew that this was a cemetery of creatures of a determined "kind". Maybe Daressa meant the same species? Could be that energy was something related to their species?

'No that makes no sense' thought the youth. If that strange energy was some kind of power reserved for a particular species, why was it resonating with his body? Plus, even if he didn't know for sure from which kind of beast they came from, he was pretty sure that those colossal remains weren't black collar snakes.

"I'm going to start to cultivate, Winter will take control of the ship from now on." said Daressa, bringing Darkscale back to reality. She put herself on the side of the vehicle, letting her place to her human companion.

Winter Leaf was ready, and instructed her Blood Energy inside the blue ship, controlling and starting moving it. The boat was now moving slower and it was way less fluid than before. It trembled as it went forward, but it kept moving. Winter Leaf, contrary to Devassa, seemed to need to concentrate all her effort on controlling the boat, completely disregarding what was happening around her.

"In a few hours we will arrive at the tomb and I will need your help... as for the core, it is inside the tomb." said Devassa after giving a pleased nod to the black haired girl.

Then she closed her eyes and started to cultivate. Contrary to his expectation, the violet serpent cultivation didn't cause the formation of any great manifestation. He couldn't even see the energy that she was cultivating.

She simply stood there, her eyes closed and her head bowed. Even her grey armor almost disappeared from the surface of her skin. If she had not told him that she was cultivating, he would have thought that she was just taking a nap.

Several hours after, both Star Leaf and Darkscale were examining the yellow waters around the boat with their energy probes, when they sensed something north. It was something large, that seemed to be genuinely made of rocks and not another piece of giant black bones.

They couldn't feel any form of life around it, meaning that there weren't any worms there.

The violet serpent opened her eyes, exiting from her short cultivation session. She also pointed her eyes towards the north.

She gave a glance at the woman with a large Green Bow behind her back and the latter immediately stopped operating the boat and moved sideways.

The violet serpent moved on her old place and started to pour grey energy back into the ship, making it move at insane speed towards the rocky structure that they all felt in the distance.

Soon, they could see it: it was a large cave-like entrance emerging from the yellow mist and waters. It seemed like a grotto of some sort. A red light was covering the entrance. It was like a screen that blocked everything from entering the cavern.

Looking at it more closely, Darkscale could tell that it wasn't a simple red mirror-like surface. The red screen was in fact made of countless runes. It was the most complex work that the serpent had ever seen.

"This is the tomb, it's your turn!" said Daressa looking towards Darkscale. She had brought him there and now it was time for him to deliver!
