Hey there! my name is Zane. I have no elemental affinity or aptitude. My body cannot generate and or retain mana. The god of the human universe hates me..oh yeah and I am blind. Watch me as I take over the multiverse.

Chapter 13 -- Unwavering determination

After picking up his jaw from the floor, Owen went over to every item Zane had pointed out and began to sniff them. He thought that maybe Zane had sniffed them out like he usually does.

However, none of those things had any smell or scent whatsoever.

"Explain" Olivia said towards her son. Who was currently stuffing his face with a loaf of bread.

After swallowing the bread in his mouth Zane began talking.

"As i said before, I can see mana and when I moved my my wrist i was spreading mana specks all around the room. Those specks then created an outline which I could see." Zane explained.

Olivia was confused "mana specks ?"

"Very small pieces of mana" Zane said

"Ok even though we don't understand we will believe you, but what about killing the rabbit ?" Owen asked.

"As you most likely don't know, people only generate mana when they reach 10 years old. However one day i accidentally killed one of mother's flowers and discovered that i can absorb the mana of everything I kill, as long as that thing has mana" Zane half lied.

He didn't think it was a good idea to tell them about the fact that he met the human god, and that he annoyed then manipulated her into giving him skills.

"So that's why you decided to massacre all my flowers" Olivia realized.

"Son have you told anyone about this yet ?" Owen suddenly turned serious.

"No, you guys are the first I've told, no one else knows." Zane answered.

"Good, Keep it like that, don't tell anyone am I clear?" Owen ordered. This was the first time Zane heard his father sound this serious.

"Of course father. I will not tell anyone, but can I ask why ?" Zane was genuinely quite curious. He wasn't going to tell anyone anyway but the way his father put it, it was like someone's life was at stake.

"You said you gain mana by killing. What do you think will happen when the noble family finds out?" Owen quizzed.

"They will try to recruit me into their ranks, after all I am a 7 year old kid who can control pure mana. My potential is has no limit. Then when i refuse, they will kill me" Zane nonchalantly realized as he continued to eat his bread.

Once again Zane's parents where shocked. Those where the words of a full grown man. However they came from their 7 year old son.

"Th...That's correct I'm glad you understand" Owen stammered. Olivia just stood there not really knowing what to say. She was just happy that Zane likes her bread.

"So the problem now is how I can kill more beasts to get enough mana for me to see all the time" Zane said.

"Let's say you get enough mana and you can now see as any other person. Then what ?" Owen asked. He told himself that he was talking to an adult man as Zane seemed to think like one.

"Then i become a hunter and make enough money for you and mom to never work again. I will make you live like nobles" Zane said with determination.

"Okay fine you manage all that, we get a big house and live lavishly, then what ?"

Zane took a deep breath "Then i become the most powerful person existence"

"Then what ??" Owen continued with his questions, and Zane was not at all intimidated by them.

"Then i leave this world" Zane announced and his parents opened their mouths in surprise. Owen however was not as surprised as his wife.

'Leave the world ?, is that even possible. What else was there ather than the world ?. Isn't leaving the world the same just dying ?' Olivia thought in panic but was surprised to see her husband smiling.

'Like father like son' Owen thought.

"I want to ascend to the heavens and see what there is outside of this world. I want to touch the stars and maybe even make them mine." Zane's eyes shone when he talked, his parents could feel the ambition in his voice.

This ambition even made them overlook the fact that Zane talked about stars yet he has obviously never seen them before.

'And I want to repay a certain celestial' Zane said that part to himself.

Owen sighed "Don't you want to get yourself a wife one day and live your life peacefully on a farm with your family, like your old man?"

"Don't get me wrong father i love the way you and mother are living. However if i follow in your footsteps i will live my life with regret. There is more to life than this world, i can feel it and one day I want to experience it" Zane said with absolute conviction.

Owen looked at Zane and internally smiled. 'That un wavering determination.... is the same as the one i had.' he thought.

"Is there any chance of changing your mind ?" Owen asked and Zane just shook his head.

"Then let me tell you a story of why i won't try to stop you, it's something i wanted to tell you when you grow up but i guess there is no time like the present."

"A story father ?" Zane curiosity grew.

"Can you do that thing you did again ?. I want you to see my face as i tell you this" Owen said.

Zane rubbed the back of his neck "Actually father this method only allows me to see for a split second."

"That's fine as long as you memorize how my face looks " Owen smiled and Zane nodded.

Owen then sat on the table directly opposite Zane. The table was only 1 meter long. Olivia also sat beside her husband.

"Whenever you are ready, i am right in front of you" Owen beckoned.

Zane condensed a mana ball in his hand then divided it into mana specks. He also noticed that the more he did it the easier it became. The control over his mana was increasing at a very fast pace.

Due to his increased control Zane could divide the mana even more. The more mana specks the better he could see after all. This time instead of the mana just dividing into specks and stopping, they continued breaking down.

The mana particles had become so small that when they are all in Zane's hand they had the had the appearance of fine powder. Zane couldn't even see the individual balls anymore, it was like he was looking at dust, and of course he now called it mana dust.

However he had a feeling he wouldn't be able to divide the dust further than that.

Zane flicked his wrist in the direction of his father's voice.
