Rise of the Champion 16 - Nico Coleman and Elias Caballero

As the trainers are checking Darren on the trainer's table, Mr. Syvone begins to clean up the blood on the floor. Martin and Adrain looked at each other then Adrian began to laugh suddenly out of nowhere.

"I tell you something," Adrian said as he paused for a brief moment collecting his thoughts as he was trying to stop his laughing for a bit. "I think that Darren when he gets back up from his every aggressive ass whopping will probably bring a gun to shoot up Demetrius. He definitely gives me that vibe that he would do that."

Martin looked at Adrian after hearing what he just heard from him. "You probably said one of the more tamed lines you could have possibly said in comparison to what I thought you would have done.

"You have definitely said worse," Adrian said looking down at his friend. "Anyways we should probably talk to Jeremy about this tournament."

"That is probably one of the smart things you said," Martin said, trying to mess with his friend. "Yeah let's go talk to Jeremy."

As both of the friends walked around to look for Jeremy, they noticed Demetrius walking into the locker room faster than they expected.

"Demetrius is definitely trying to escape the wrath of Darren's gun," Adrian said snickering as he looks around the crowd looking for their mentor. "Found his glass eye self."

Martin moved forward as he tried to catch up to Jeremy looking for a place to sit down near a wall. "Yo Jeremy let us get a spot next to you," Martin asked as he placed himself down. Adrian then looked at Jeremy and he gave the big man a nod as he slapped the empty space near him. Adrian placed himself down as the three friends looked at the crowd talking amongst themselves waiting for Mr. Syvone to get down with the blood of the ring.

"Jeremy, can I ask you a question?" Adrian asked as he looked at Jeremy.

Jeremy's right glass looked dead as he quickly turned his head to look at the man who was talking to him. "Yeah what's up, man?" Jeremy asked.

"Do you happen to know what is up with the tournament that Mr. Syvone was talking about at the beginning of the tournament?" Adrian asked as he began to think about what Jeremy could say.

"Well, when I was in the locker, I was talking to the trainers," Jeremy said, looking like he was trying to remember what he was told. "I was talking to Tony and he was talking about how he got an email from some guy that was hosting the event. Mr. Syvone was and still is interested in having us compete in it because apparently UFC scouts would be there."

"UFC scouts are there?" Martin said with hope in his eyes. "Adrian, this is our chance for us to make it big."

"Man I don't trust no fucking email unless I actually see the scout or scouts there," Adrian said with some questioning style of tone. "Besides why the hell are we doing a tournament anyways?"

"That is because and I would have explained if I wasn't you know," Jeremy said with some passive aggression towards Martin. "The reason why we are doing it is because since we are classified as a "team," we are limited to one per weight class."

"Question, Jeremy," Martin said, trying to figure out how to get his point across. "I bet this is a very simple answer for you but still why do you, of all people, seem to know everything about this place?"

Jeremy points to his glass eye while staring directly into Martin's eyes. "Mr. Syvone was the only man who gave me a chance after I had to get my glass eye. I have been at this gym literally a year since he got the ownership. He has given me plenty of opportunities but the scouts do not believe in me so that is why I am still here, it just shows you two children how long I have been here."

"It makes sense Jeremy," Martin said in response with some sincerity. "I have respect for your work ethic, I was just wanting to ask a question without trying to sound disrespectful to you."

"It is fine, Martin," Jeremy said, trying to reassure the young man. "Other than that let's just chill here for a bit till it looks like Mr. Syvone is done."

The three friends sit at their spot for a while. They watch as the trainers clean up the blood and tend to Darren. The whole view was surprisingly peaceful. Friends talking to each other about a variety of topics, while some seem to be goofing around having some fun, torah looked more serious. It was a surprising mix. After some time, Tyson walked up and sat down next to them.

"We are still waiting for them to start the next fight," Tyson said, annoyed. "I could have already finished eating some good as fuck food if you know what I mean."

"You didn't," Adrian said surprised as Tyson nodded. The other two friends are all shocked and give a slight cheer to tyson.

"Congratulations Tyson for cheating on your girlfriend for the like what the tenth time now?" Jeremy said with sarcasm in his voice.

"I think it is probably higher but I honestly do not remember," Tyson said, making a joke of it.

"Probably got hit in the head WAY too many times," Martin reprelied having memories flashed in his mind.

"Martin, do you remember the one match in our junior year where this man got like five bloody noses in a row," Adrian said laughing. "And your ass said that he looked like a ketchup bottle with much of it dripping out of him.

Martin sat there for a second then when he remembered he too began to laugh. "It was true though I thought you were going to get disqualified," Martin said looking at Tyson.

"Bro that was some bullshit, man cheap shotted me in the nose during it and it just wouldn't stop," tyson said annoyed of that event. "You remember how mad our coach was?"

"Coach Johnson?" Martin asked before continuing to

laugh. "I remember that man was just mad because he thought it was a cheap move."

"That kid should be removed from the match this instant!" Adrian said, trying to mimic the coach. The voice was more lower in pitch and fast like a southerner would be. "I remember that."

As the three teammates laugh along, Jeremy nudges Tyson. "I think Mr. Syvone is about to start the next round," Jeremy said as the four of them moved back closer to the ring.

"I am so sorry for the long delay for the next match," Mr. Syvone began. He glances back towards Darren, "Darren is fine, all he has is a concussion that is it. But anyways now for the Welterweight fight. We got Nico Coleman against Elias Caballero!"

The crowd cheered as both of the fight stepped into the ring. Excited that they get to see another fight again.

"Let's just get this over with," Elias said to Nico.

"Yeah but it is not going to end like what you think it would," Nico said trying to size up his opponent. "It is probably going to end with you crying like a bitch on the floor."

Mr. Syvone walked up to the two men. "I like this energy. I know you guys are ready, am I right?" Both men nodded their heads staring at each other. "SET, GO!"

Both of the men start off by circling each other. Nico was in a more lowered position similar to a wrestler in comparison to Elias who is more upright. Light on his feet and bouncing. Elias tried to make the first move by stepping in with a strong right jab but Nico dodged it and landed a couple jabs in. Nico looked to be the more athletic fighter in this fight and it seemed like he intended on using that to his advantage. Nico moving around Elias making him constantly trying to adjust himself to be in a better position. Nico threw in a couple of jabs to annoy his opponent. Elias got irritated and grabbed Nico's wrist. Nico tried to break free from the grip but he couldn't. Elias then moved Nico wrist down to lower his body as he grabbed at Nico's ankle. The wider man then went down on the shin hard like a bowling ball trying to knock the pins. Nico lands on his back getting pinned down by Elias. Nico moved himself up onto his butt so he could try to wiggle himself out, but Elias was being physical with him, not trying to let his opponent get out. Elias kept putting more pressure on top of Nico. Nico eventually got stuck down and Elias tried to get up to start punching at him. When Elias got his head up, Nico punched his opponent in the nose. The hit caused Elias to loosen his grip and Nico took it to get himself up to his feet. It worked, as Elias was just starting to get himself up, Nico was fully on his feet and looked ready to start punching. Nico punched Elias right in the face and Elias was not prepared for it. Elias hit straight to the ground on the side. Nico descended upon his opponent wanting to end the fight. Elias was getting beat down by Nico with a flurry of fists. As it was happening Mr. Syvone stepped in to stop and check on Elias. Elias was laying flat on the ground, slowly he began to get up. Mr. Syvone was looking at his fighter trying to get himself and after some time he got up.

"Are you still able to continue this fight?" Mr. Syvone asked as he was observing Elias' movement. It looked like he was going to be fine, he just needed some time to breathe.

Elias after some time looked at Mr. Syvone. "Yes, I can go."

"Then move your ass, Nico was practically taking a nap as you were down," Mr. Syvone said, trying to anger Elias for his own enjoyment. Nico was fine just walking around thinking that he won the match before he turned around to find out that the matc0o0

h may continue. Elias looked mad after hearing what Mr. Syvone just said to him. "Oh I am ready to beat this bastard."

Elias walked forward as Mr. Syvone moved away to let the two men continue fighting. Nico looked like he used the mini break worthy as he looked more rested. Elias was more tired and bruised looking. Despite that the man kept moving forward wanting to win the match. Both men were circling around each other to try to jab. It kept going for a while until Mr. Syvone stepped in to stop the round. Both men walked back over to their own corners, Nico looking more able to continue, Elias trying to look like he could continue but it was a hard process for him. The trainers both looked at their own fighters and began to clean them up from the round. After some time Mr. Syvone stepped up to begin the second round. As both fighters get up to walk over to the middle, Elias is showing more of that fatigue which made Nico give a smile. Not a friendly smile by any means.

Mr. Syvone looks at both of the men, "are you guys ready to continue into the next round?" He asked. Elias gave a slow nod as if he was thinking about if he wanted to continue. Nico gave a pretty fast nod after seeing his opponent have doubts in his mind. Mr. Syvone takes a deep breath in. "SET, GO!"

Both men started up their match right where they left off but something was different. Nico had more energy and got into a low stance similar to that of a wrestler. Elias in comparison was a lot more up straight as if he was catching his breath and trying to stall out the match. Nico was speeding up his foot movement until Elias tried to copy it. After some time, Nico immediately dove himself into his opponent's legs as he wanted to end the fight right now. As Elias was brought down to the floor. Nico got Elias pinned to the ground as the clear winner began to punch furiously towards the head. Elias was trying to block the punches as much as he could but was quickly overloaded by this task. Nico was doing this all with a smile that slowly faded as he began to realize that Elias stopped trying to block the punches after some time and just accepted defeat. Nico kept going until Mr. Syvone stepped into it to stop the fight in order to protect Elias.

"The winner of the Welterweight class is Nico Coleman," Mr. Syvone said as the crowd looked excited by the results. "The next round will be between Pablo Garcia and Martin Cambio!"
