Eliminate Threat

Kia couldn't believe what he saw: the body of a woman lying lifeless on the floor, surrounded by five people, except they weren't people. They looked just like Mr. Robert who had attacked him. They were covered in blood and were devouring her flesh like it was some kind of feast.

Wanting to be sure he wasn't seeing things, he opened the door a little and took a peek. He was too afraid to move, but he still couldn't tear his eyes away from the horrific sight.

His stomach twisted into a knot, and he wanted to throw up. Then, without warning, one of the infected creatures lifted its blood-soaked face and locked eyes with Kia. It let out a loud growl and lurched towards Kia.

In panic, Kia stumbled back and fumbled for the door handle behind him. His hand was trembling so bad, but he managed to slam the door shut behind him.

Thud!

The infected body slammed against the door, pushing with all its might. It became hard for Kia to keep the door locked as the strength became more increasingly forceful. Worse, it wasn't just one of the infected that was banging its body against the door, but all five of them hammering the door.

What the hell was he going to do? He couldn't hold it, and it was only a matter of time before they broke through the door. He could only imagine what would happen next if one of the infected managed to break in.

He managed to reach the key, and with a shaky hand, he turned the key, hoping that it would hold them, but to his dismay, as he reached for the locks, he realized that they were broken.

His heart stopped, and the color drained from his face.

What to do! What to do! He kept thinking. His back still pressed against the wall, the only thing keeping those monsters from getting in, but it was clear he couldn't hold on any longer.

Out of the corner of his eye, he saw a chair. Stretching one hand, he reached out for the chair. It was too far, and he couldn't let go of the other hand that was still holding the door.

"Ahh..." he groaned, sliding his feet forward, and then inch by inch, he was close enough and quickly grabbed it with his free hand and positioned it on the side where the door hinge was. He bent his knees and positioned himself in front of the door. The moment he was ready, the door began to give way, and in one swift motion, he swung the chair at the hinges.

The force was enough to make the door fall off and fall outside. Now, only the chair was keeping the monsters from getting in.

Instantly, his legs became numb, and he fell to his knees. He pressed his back against the wall harder. His whole body was shaking uncontrollably, and he couldn't get the image of the woman's dismantled body out of his mind. He closed his eyes tight and tried to breathe in and out, trying to stay calm, but the loud growls behind the door made it difficult for him.

Kia brought his hands up in front of him and gulped down nothing. "Uhm... you were saying?" he stammered, his voice trembling as he struggled to maintain composure. "Those things outside...they aren't human, are they?"

[No, They aren't humans], the system said, making Kia's face grow paler.

He gulped down nothing again and slowly parted his lips. "A-are... are they zombies?" He asked and prayed silently for there to be a logical explanation for all this, but deep down, he knew what the response would be.

[Yes], the response came like a bullet, and he fell completely to the ground, panting like he was going to die, but he held onto his chest tightly.

"Are you...telling me that I am in some kind of zombie apocalypse?" He asked in disbelief, and when he heard another thud on the door, his heart did a somersault.

[You are once again correct. Good job; you are doing great], the system replied.

Kia's face scrunched in disgust for a quick second before being replaced by his fear. "But...how the heck did that happen?" There wasn't any new report whatsoever. And just yesterday everything was normal.

Normal...now that Kia thought of it, everything was indeed strange yesterday. From the store owner, to his neighbor, to the empty street. It all made sense now. How had he not realized something was wrong?

Before the system could give an answer, there was a louder bang against the door. The door broke and fell on Kia, and two of the zombies entered. One of them looked like the old woman Kia had seen earlier. The other was a tall, burly man. They looked rabid, with their eyes bloodshot and their mouths foaming. And both of them moved towards Kia with horrifying speed.

Without thinking, Kia crawled backwards and felt around for something he could use to defend himself. His hands grasped a chair leg, and he held it up like a sword. But the infected beings were moving faster than he could react.

"No...no! Stay back!" He yelled, trying to sound brave. But his voice shook, and his hands were trembling.

What do I do! What do I do! I am going to die! He screamed in his head.

[You must repeat your previous actions], the system prompted.

"What?" Kia mouthed, as he moved further back. His fingers brushed the gun lying on the floor. One of the zombies reached out to grab Kia, and the remaining three rushed in afterwards.

[Eliminate the threat].

Without hesitation, Kia grabbed the gun and pointed it at the first zombie.

"Die, you mother fucker!!"

Bang!
