25: Blue Moon (VIII)

A.N: Guys I have a problem, I need to finish that arc before the end of the volume which ends a bit after MC goes back to Greece.

"What is it, Hades?" asked Luna, her blue eyes gazing at Hades' purple eyes.

Hades looked around, the ground was painted with blood and made squelching sounds, while the floor was marked with clawing marks of struggle and pain.

"I just wanted to talk to you, but this is so interesting," he said with a playful smile on his face. Hades waved his hand and a table with two chairs appeared.

Luna looked at the table silently before following Hades' example and sat on one of the chairs.

"So, how did it feel? Was it relieving? Freeing? Or maybe disgusting?" asked Hades, he placed his elbow on the table and held his head with his hand.

"I guess a bit freeing, but not as much as I had hoped. Maybe when they are all dead, I will feel better." She answered thinking about it, her eyes were riveted on the old roof.

Hades nodded before taking a serious expression, "Don't wait for something like that, you will only be disappointed. Revenge is Revenge at the end of the day, it will never bring back what it has taken.

Luna gazed at the beyond, her thoughts running around, "Is this the only thing you wanted to ask me?" she said regaining her posture after some time.

"No, I have a gift for you" responded Hades with his ever-present smile, the entire room became covered in a mix of darkness and majestic whitish-golden light. Luna looked at him with doubtful eyes before repeating "a gift?..."

Hades looked at the table and then as if reality distorting itself, a perfect cube wrapped with blue paper and a silver line appeared.

Luna stretched her arm and took the gift package into her arms, after a second she began tearing it. From the torn pieces of paper was a book revealed.

The book was made of a blue leathered cover and jet-black pages, a clockwork was linked to a silver chain attached to the book.

Luna gazed at it, her eyes looking at the book trying to find something special to it.

"Open it," said Hades with expectation, he looked even more interested than the one who received the gift.

Luna slowly opened it to one of the pages. The pages shone with the light of the starry night sky, the borders were glowing red.

The book floated and a beautiful marking appeared on the cover, the ink was light devouring and gave this book a mysterious aura.

" The Book Of Vanitas"

"Woa" unknowingly Luna let out her surprise and amazed expression. A smile grew on Hades' face, he looked at Luna who was deeply immersed in the grandeur of the book.

After a second, Luna regained her focus and asked "Thanks… So what does it do?"

"This book was made by Hecate, Thanatos, and me, so it is quite the divine item. Its power is storing the souls of those you kill permitting you to become a necromancer and able you to summon those soul, read most or all of their memories, and command them." Responded Hades, he rubbed his hand while questioning "So what do you think"

*Mhhh* she looked thoughtfully her hands inspecting every corner of the book. "Is my father in this book?" she asked with a tear in her eye.

*Sigh* "Luna,… I already told you that I don't have his soul." He responded with a serious and downcasted voice.

"But why? You are the god of the dead." She asked puzzled while her hands were trembling.

"There are many gods in this world, each with their own domain. All of the Greek dead belong to me if no other god or higher being interfere." He said while posing both of his hands on the table and looking straight at her.

"But my father is Greek!" she screamed. Hades looked at her waiting for her to calm herself before answering.

"Yes, but there are ways that others claim them. Like those killing him."

"So you just let them claim those souls?" She asked with anger.

"No, but that being must have made a pact with death herself, hence me not detecting that someone was missing."

"Death... Thanatos?"

"No, Thanatos is also death, but I am talking about death of the endless. I know personally two of her brothers, they are beings even stronger than most primordials."

"But why would she do that?"

"I don't really know, but the dead do not always belong to the gods of the dead. One example is Valhalla, a place where those who die in a worthy battle go. Or if I did not break the strings then Ares would have all the Greeks that die in a war."

A few years fell from her eyes, Hades went in front of her and cleaned them away before saying "Don't worry, I can claim him back. You just have to kill a vampire strong enough that his god has interest in him and then I will find which god it is that has you father."

A cruel smile painted itself on Luna's face as she said with a determined expression "So, I just need to exterminate them, till I find one strong enough?"
